In 1881 it was reported in In 1892 we find Duerrwaechter Lumber to be located where Neu's Supply Line is today [2003]. We also find at this time the Schwalbach Lumber Company located directly south of the railroad station. This would be east of Duerrwaechter Lumber What happened between 1900 and 1950 needs to be uncovered but in the late 1940s, the Duerrwaechter Lumber facility may not have been in business while the Schwalbach Lumber Company was. In 1951 Roman Neu purchased the land which had been the Duerrwaechter lumber facility and now begins there Neu's Supply Line which exists today. The Schwalbach Lumber Company sometime later is closed and the building raised. It would seem that after Phillip died in 1923, his operation might have been divided amoung family members. We know that Benn operated the agriculture establishment located across the street from the bank building. We know that Emma was Bank President. In 1945, Neu's Supply Line was incorporated by sole owner, Roman Neu, in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. The first building was situated there on a 3/4 acre lot. The business expanded in 1951 purchashing 8 acres of land in Germantown which had been Deurrwaechter Lumber. Roman could have his own rail siding and room for the rail cars to be unloaded as was the case in earlier years. Roman Neu passed away in 1959 leaving the business to be continued by his family. In the year 2002, Neu's Supply of Germantown and Memonomonere Falls remain thriving businesses. (the companies current web site) |
