Obituary:   "John Krohta, 84, Litchfield, Illinois, formerly of Benld, Illinois died at 6:23 p.m., Thursday, Feb 10, 2005.

Born July 21, 1920, in Staunton, he was a son of Prokop and Margaret (Drobney) Krohta. He first married Virginia. After her death, he married Pauline of Follansbee, West Virginia, and she died Feb 21, 1998. He later married Juanita, and she survives.

Mr. Krohta was retired from the United States Navy. He enlisted in the Navy in 1938 and was a Pearl Harbor survivor while stationed on the U.S.S. Medusa. He achieved the rank of Master Chief Hull Technician and Master Deep Sea Diver, having dove on the recovery of the U.S.S. Oklahoma and made dives on the U.S.S. Arizona and the U.S.S. Utah. He also was a Master Mason of Theodore Roosevelt Lodge 44 of Washington, D,C., a lifetime member of the Potomac Lodge in Washington D.C., a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Arlington Heights and the American Legion Post 100 of Rogers, Arkansas. Upon retirement from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Krohta worked at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, as Supervisor of Hyperbaric Medicine, then St. Luke'Hospital in Milwaukee. Wisconsin, as Hyperbaric Medicine Supervisor. He retired in 1985 to Rogers, Arkansas.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Krohta is survived by a son, Daniel Krohta of Grayslake; a step-son, Larry Cranford and wife, Shiryl, of Hamel; two daughters, Barbara Krohta of Franktown, Colo. and Judi Cimuchowski and husband, John, of Germantown, Wisc; and two grandchildren, Michael Cimuchowski and Matthew Cimuchowski.

Preceding Mr. Krohta in death were his parents and two spouses.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 14, at Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, with Rev. Johnson officiating. Organist was Linda Maulding, and music selection was 'How Great Thou Art'; and 'In The Garden.' Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.

Memorials are suggested to Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, or VFW Post 3912 in Litchfield."
