Herbert G. Koss passed over to eternal life on 16 November 2010, at the age of 91years. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, 20 November 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church, 1193 Lakefield Road, Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. Visitation was at the church on Saturday. Herbert was born on 29 September 1919, the son of Gustav and Charlotte Koss. He was a veteran of World War II and served the Grafton area as an electrical contractor. Herbert was survived by his wife, Joyce, five sons and three stepdaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hans and Frank; sister, Gerda; and daughter, Marilyn.

John W. Abst

Mr. John W. Abts of Saukville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Grafton and Milwaukee, passed away at his home at the age of 69 years on Saturday morning, 13 November 2010. He was born on 16 October 1941 in Milwaukee, son of Arthur Abts and Ruth Winkenwerder Landt. John proudly served his country in the National Guard and the United States Army. On 12 October 1963, he was united in marriage with LeAnn Ehlert in Thiensville. John worked for over 37 years as a purchasing manager at Telsmith and Paper Machinery Corporation, both located in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County. He retired from PMC in 2000. John was a member of Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grafton, and the Certified Purchasing Managers Association. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. John was survived by his wife, LeAnn of Saukville, and their three children. Funeral services were held on Friday, 19 November at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1332 Arrowhead Road, Grafton. Pastor Mark Wagner officiated. John will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grafton. The family received family and friends at the church on Friday afternoon.

James P. Dengel

James P. Dengel, also known as Jim, 82, found peace at the Cedar Community "Sunrise Cove" on Monday, 15 November 2010. He was 82 yeaers old. James was born on 17 April 1928 in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, the son of George and Theresa (Jansen) Dengel. He was united in marriage to Mary Stempe on 24 October 1964 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. James graduated from West Bend High School in 1946, where he lettered in football, baseball, basketball, track and tennis. After high school, he worked at Amity Leather. James joined the United States Air Force and served from 1950 to 1954, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. In 1959, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in physical education. He was a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa, physical education fraternity. After graduation, he taught for a short time at Edgewood High School in Madison. He then moved back to West Bend to work for Karl Kircher and Jim Niebauer at the West Bend Pharmacy. James then joined the M&I Bank as an installment loan officer and later served as vice president and manager at the M&I Bank-South office. He retired in 1991. James loved sports! In his early years, he enjoyed playing softball for Feet’s. Later in life, he played golf in the senior league at Hon-E-Cor. James was also a member of the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop Post 36. He was a past president of the Washington County Draft Board No. 75 Selective Service System. James was survived by his wife, Mary, and two children. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Howard, Robert, Vernon Dengel and Margaret Potter. A memorial Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, 20 November, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 South 7th Avenue, West Bend, where the Reverend Jeff Haines presided. Inurnment followed at Washington County Memorial Park with full military honors.
Jim was a kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He will be dearly missed.

Richard E. Blair

Richard E. Blair, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, 18 November 2010 at his home with his family by his side. He was 76 years. Richard was born on 08 February 1934 in Oshkosh, Winnebago County, the son of James and Bessie (Lind) Blair. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in the class of 1952. Richard served his country honorably from 1952-1956 in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Germany. On 20 March 1959, he was united in marriage to Barbara Suelflow at Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Richard attended Wisconsin State Teacher’s College in Oshkosh where he earned a bachelor of science degree in liberal arts and a bachelor of science degree in education. He started his career as a high school English teacher in Portage, Columbia County. From 1964 to 2000 he worked as a sales representative for various educational publishers. Richard was a member and past president of the Wisconsin Educational Representatives Association. During their 51 plus years of marriage, the Blairs lived in Oshkosh, Portage, Hartford, Beaver Dam, and Elgin, Illinois, and for the past 34 years in West Bend. Richard was known for his dry sense of humor and his fondness for the art of the pun. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sports activities, having coached his own sons. He also enjoyed his post retirement job, the fall of the year, his family dogs, fishing, reading and going to Costco, along with his passion for buying and selling cars. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and two sons. In accordance with Richard’s wishes, a private family memorial service was held.

Jack F. Pischke

Jack F. Pischke of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA was called Home at the age of 92 years on Sunday, 21 November 2010, joining his wife Betty who preceded him in death. Jack was born on 03 December 1918 in Pardeeville, Columbia County, the son of Fred and Eva (Dasenbrock) Pischke. He was graduated from Slinger High School and attended the University of Wisconsin before enlisting in the United States Army. Jack served his country honorably while in the Army during World War II as a second lieutenant. Prior to enlisting, Jack met the love of his life, Betty Jane Moon. They married 11 April 1941. Following his discharge, he was employed at the Enger Cress Company before owning the Bye Low Food Store for 10 years. He joined at B.C. Ziegler Company where he was employed for 25 years, retiring in 1984. Jack was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend, serving as the church treasurer and as a Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the West Bend Country Club and the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36. Jack led a very active life. He was an avid golfer and spent many hours golfing at the West Bend Country Club. He and his wife Betty traveled after his retirement visiting family in Arizona and Colorado. They also traveled throughout the Wisconsin area. Jack and Betty enjoyed playing cards – beginning early in their first years in West Bend and continuing throughout their time here. They both had quite a few friends and enjoyed spending good times with them. Jack had a very close relationship with his Lord and Savior. His love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were first and foremost in his life. Jack was a kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be in our hearts and our memories and will be dearly missed. He was survived by his two children. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents, Fred and Eva Pischke; two sisters, Shirley Eggert and Muriel Pischke in infancy; and a grandson, Christopher Jacobs in infancy. Private family services were held with entombment in Washington County Memorial Park.

Nicholas F.A. Levenhagen of King, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Mequon, Ozaukee County, passed away at the age of 81 years on 26 November 2010 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Nicholas was born on 02 June 1929 in Neenah, Winnebago County, the son of Nicklaus and Euphemia (Roder) Levenhagen. He married Alice J. Mathey on 25 July 1953 in Medford, Taylor County.
Nicholas was survived by his wife, Alice, a son and two daughters. He had been employed as a depot agent/telegrapher for the Great Northern Railroad and the Milwaukee Road Railroad for about ten years. He next worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in the Thiensville/Mequon area, then for the Singer Sewing Machine Co. in their school sales department for about ten years. He buying the sales and service department and operated that business independently for another ten years. Nicholas had been active in 4-H working with IFYE (International 4-H Youth Exchange). He was active in his former United Methodist Church in Mequon. Nicholas enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, serving in Germany in a Signal Corps. A Memorial Service was held at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King in their Main Chapel on Monday, 29 November 2010 where Chaplain Rich Engle officiated. A visitation was held in the Main Chapel.

Glenn Thomas Greene of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 86 years on Wednesday, 24 November 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in West Bend from a battle with lung disease. Glenn was born on 04 November 1924, the son of John and Lucy (Richard) Greene in Brackett, Eau Claire County. On 26 October 1952, he married Arlean Fischer in North Dakota. Glenn graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1942 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1943, serving in World War II until 1946. He retired from A.O. Smith in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County in 1982. Glenn enjoyed his lawn and gardening and also cars. He was a member of West Bend Veterans of Foreigns Post 1393. Glenn was survived by his wife, Arlean, and one son. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Greene. A funeral service was on Tuesday, 30 November at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend where the Reverend David Stone presided. Interment took place at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Visitation was at the funeral home on Tuesday, 30 November.

Howard L. Cralley

Howard L. Cralley: a funeral service was held on Sunday, 28 November 2010, at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA for Howard L. Cralley of Cedarburg, who died at the age of 87 years on 24 November 2010. Visitation was at the church. Interment followed at Zur Ruhe Cemetery with full military honors. Howard was born in Coles Station, Maultrie County, Illinois on 19 September 1923, the son of George and Lellie (Calhoun) Cralley. He graduated from Mattoon High School in Mattoon, Coles County. Howard entered military service in March of 1943 serving his country during World War II as a platoon sergeant in the United States Army. His tour of duty took him though North Africa and Italy. Howard received a Purple Heart after being wounded in Italy in June 1944. He was honorably discharged in December 1945. After the war, Howard was united in marriage on 26 April 1947 to Virginia Polenz at Bay View Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. He was a past American Legion commander for both Cedarburg and Ozaukee County and served as an Ozaukee County Board supervisor. Howard worked at ACDelco Electronics in quality control and later at the Mee-Kwon Golf Course as a ranger. He was a very avid golfer. Howard was also a good father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Virginia, and their three children. Howard was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Erin Smith; two brothers and two sisters.

William T. Provo of Germantown, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Thiensville, Ozaukee County and Chicago, Cook County, ILlinois was born to Eternal Life at the age of 82 years on 31 December 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Rita. Dear father of Bill (Gail), Mary (Mike) S..., Thomas, James and the late Bob (Sandy) Provo. Loving grandfather of Steve, Brian and Brendan; Whitney and Mattie, both of Utah. Fond brother-in-law of Carol Ann, Sue, Helen and Robert Moore. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was a Korean War veteran. He spent his entire career with Beneficial Finance Corp. He relocated his family to Thiensville in 1969 where he became an active member of the social and business community. In the 1970s he helped start the Thiensville-Mequon Ice Hockey Association. In 1982 he was the owner of Billy Boy's ice cream and sandwich shop. As a member of the Thiensville Business Association and Village Trustee he was instrumental in getting Christmas lights on Main Street and fireworks on 4th of July. He also received a key to the Village. Bill was a long standing member of the T-M Lions Club and was named a Melvin Jones Fellow for community service and commitment. He was also a member of the Cedarburg Peter Wollner Veterans of foreigh Wars Post 288. He enjoyed meeting and helping people and was proud of his service to the community. Visitation was on Thursday, 05 January, at the Funeral Home with a Prayer Service. Procession to Resurrection Cemetery was on Friday, 06 January. Meet at the Funeral Home at 10 AM.

John J. Moerchen, also known as John the Barber, of Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA passed away on 04 November 2010 at the age of 77 years. He was the husband of Alice and the father of three children. A Memorial Mass was celebrated Friday, 12 November at St. Mary Catholic Church, N89 W16297 Cleveland Avenue, Menomonee Falls. Visitation was on Friday. A luncheon followed at St. Mary's Activity Center. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Menomonie, Michigan on Saturday. Following high school graduation (Menomonie, MI), John turned down an opportunity to play for the Detroit Tigers and accepted a football scholarship at the University of Wyoming. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953-55. John was a member of the Menomonee Falls Henrizi-Schneider sAmerican Legion Post 382 and the Menomonee Falls Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9496. John signed a football contract with the Green Bay Packers in 1958 as a fullback and kicker. He attended culinary school at the Dunwoody Institute. After settling in Menomonee Falls, he owned and operated Sportsmen's Barbershop for 50 years building great friendships and loyal clients. John enjoyed the outdoors by hunting with his sons and fishing with his family at their camp in Northern Ontario. He especially loved to cook for family and friends and the great conversations that always occurred will be missed.

Kenneth K. Krieps, also known as Ken, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 85 years on Tuesday, 12 October 2010 at Kathy Hospice in West Bend. A visitation, memorial service, and dinner were held at Cedar Ridge Community (Grand Hall), 119 Cedar Ridge Drive in West Bend on Sunday, 17 October 2010 where Father Joseph Dominic presided. The United States Air Force presented military honors after the memorial service.
Kenneth was survived by Mary, his wife of 60 years, and three daughters. He was born 11 April 1925 in Superior, Douglas County, the son of Martin and Elizabeth (Miller) Krieps. Kenneth served in the United States Naval during World War II and in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He studied engineering at Milwaukee School of Engineering and Marquette University and worked as a draftsman and engineer for Milwaukee area companies including Oster Corporation, Caterpillar Corporation, and Badger Meter. He retired from his role as Plant Engineer at Wagner Products of Hustisford.
Ken was especially fond of the woods and lakes of northern Wisconsin, as well as the cabin he designed and he and Mary built in the Minocqua area. Ken and Mary enjoyed extensive international travel during their retirement, including a tour of South America to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2000. A high point in the last year of his life was the World War II Vets’ Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in April.

Lawrence Entress

Lawrence Entress, also known as "Red", passed away at the age of 83 years at home on Friday, 01 October 2010. Lawrence was born in Whitewater, Walworth County, Wisconsin, USA on 21 March 1927, the son of Emil and Lucile (Lutz) Entress. He married Carol Haseley on 12 June 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Port Washington, Ozaukee County. Lawrence was graduated from Janesville High School in 1945, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1954 and went to the University of Iowa in Iowa City where he received his masters degree. He served in the United States Navy in WW II from 1945 to 1946 and was honorably discharged. Lawrence was stationed in the Pacific Theater on a survey ship at Bikini Island. For four years on Friday nights, he played semi-professional football for the Delavan Red Devils and on Saturdays he played football for UW-Whitewater. In 1972, Lawrence was inducted into the UW-Whitewater Football Hall of Fame. He started his teaching career in Thiensville, Ozaukee County becoming principal and teacher at Pleasant Valley School and ended his career after many years as principal of Westlawn Elementary School in Cedarburg. Lawrence was a member of the Cedarburg Lions Club, the Cedarburg Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288, was a docent at the Cedarburg General Store, and was a Stephen Minister at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. He was survived by his wife, Carol, of Cedarburg and two children. Visitation and funeral service were held on Friday, 08 October 2010 at the First Immanuel Lutheran Church, W67 N622 Evergreen Boulevard, Cedarburg. Interment followed at Immanuel Cemetery.

Karl Scott

Kark Scott, also known as "Scotty", passed through this life to join our God on Monday, 29 November 2010. He was the first of three children born to Karl P. and Dorothy Scott. Karl grew up in Manitowoc, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, USA. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1945, Karl joined the United States Navy and was sent to North Africa. While in the service he met his wife, Evelyn McNeill in Washington, D.C.and they were married in 1947. Returning to Wisconsin, they had three children. Karl chose teaching as a profession and began his career at a one-room schoolhouse in Richfield, Washington County. He retired from Mequon High School after 36 years of service. After retiring, he and Evelyn moved to Indio, Riverside County, California, where he spent 22 years. Karl enjoyed the desert mountains and volunteering, but not having to shovel snow was also high on his list. His final resting place is be Arlington National Cemetery. He was survuved by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn McNeill, and their three children. A memorial service was held on 01 December in Indio.

Milton R. Sundbrink

Milton R. Sudbrink of Sussex, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Hartland was born on 30 May 1922 to Theo and Marie (Lubahn) Sudbrink in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County Milton was called home to the Lord at the age of 88 years on Sunday, 05 December 2010. He was the husband of Myrtle Tretow for 62 years. Milton was the fathe rof five children. Hr was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 4 brothers -in-law and 1 sister-in-law. The family received relatives and friends on Wednesday, 08 December at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, N59 W22476 Silver Spring Drive in Sussex. Milton was retired from Precision Gears in Pewaukee and was a WWII Army veteran.

Albert Raymond Albrecht

Albert Raymond Albrecht, also known as Al, resident of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA for 52 years, was born to Eternal Life at the age of 86 years on 14 December 2010 after a battle with pancreatic cancer at the Milwaukee Veterans Hospital. Albert was born on 11 May 1924. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Doris Grenier, who he met and married in their hometown of Two Rivers, Manitowoc County. They were very much in love and inseparable for 62 years. Albert was a loving father of five childrennda) and Judy Walker, who was considered an adopted daughter. He was preceded in death by his brother Reverend Lyle (Judy) Albrecht, father Albert Albrecht Sr., mother Ruby (Meverden), and stepmother Christine (Althen). He served bravely in World War II in a secret unit referred to as the "Ghost Army," whose task was to deceive the Germans throughout Europe purely through appearance and sound, without any attack and risking their own lives while saving the lives of many others. Albert was honored for his service and for his tireless efforts to tell the story of these brave men through documentaries, reunions, and numerous presentations. He, a devout Lutheran, was very active in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church where he held many leadership positions including elder and deacon. Albert was very active in the community, including organizing the neighborhood watch. He worked enthusiastically as a salesman selling motor homes and industrial roofing until he was 84 years old. Albert was a true hero and leader by example to this country and his family, community and church. Visitation was at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6840 North 107th Street, Milwaukee on Saturday, 18 December. Burial services with Military Honors followed at West Granville Cemetery.

Colonel Thomas H. Burkhalter (retired)

Colonel Thomas H. Burkhalter, United States Army (Retired), passed away unexpectedly at the age of 80 years on Thursday morning, 23 December 2010 at Columbia St. Mary Hospital in Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. Colonel Burkhalter was born in Iron Mountain, Dickinson County, Michigan on 13 January 1930, the son of Herbert and Mildred (Thomas) Burkhalter. He grew up in Madison, Dane County,Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison graduating with a BS in Psychology. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army on 22 June 1952. Colonel Burkhalter served his country for over 20 years. His postings included many domestic posts and also overseas in Korea, Vietnam, and Germany. He completed a Masters Degree in Industrial Psychology (Laboratory of Aviation Psychology) at Ohio State. His military decorations include Combat Infantry Badge, Legion of Merit (3 OLC), Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC) Joint Services Commendation Medal, and Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC). After retiring from the United States Army, Tomas worked as Operations Manager for Curley-Bates Company, a wholesale sporting goods company in Burlingame, San Mateo County, California. He then went on to work as Director of Supply Operations for Hawthorne Aviation Company of Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina at their Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah. Tomas returned to Wisconsin to work as the Veterans Service Officer of Richland County, and then Ozaukee County where he remained until his retirement in 1997. After his retirement, he volunteered his time for the Milwaukee County Veterans Service Office for several years. Colonel Burkhalter’s organizational affiliations include the Port Washington Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82, Port Washington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5373, Disabled American Veterans, Korean War Veterans of America, Vietnam Veterans of America, Military Order of the Purple Heart, the 40 et 8, 5th RCT Association, Outpost “Harry” Survivors Association, County Veterans Service Officers Association of Wisconsin, the Manitowoc Kiwanis Club, the American Psychological Society, the Masons, and The Scottish Rite. Tomas was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Lakefield in Grafton. His hobbies included photography, reading, traveling and he loved to spend time with his family. He was survived by his wife Diane (born Waedekin) of Port Washington and six children. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law Betty Burkhalter. Funeral service were held on Wednesday, 29 December at St. John Lutheran Church in Grafton where Pastor James O’Reilly-Christenson officiated. He was buried with full military honors at Southern Wisconsin Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Racine County, Wisconsin. Visitation was held on Wednesday, 29 December at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 West Grand Avenue in Port Washington. A combined veteran organization walk-through to honor Col. Burkhalter took place at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Beloved husband of Dolores Klatt, and father of nine children. He loved spending time with his family. A 45 year member of the Germantown formerly Milwaukee American Legion Post 1, and retired member of MPS. Visitation was on Monday, 22 November 2010, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY OF NORTHEAST WISCONSIN, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, Wisconsin (866)365-7926. Funeral services were at the funeral home.

Richard Henry Lenhardt, loving father and grandfather, peacefully passed away at the age of 84 years on 03 January 2011 in Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. Richard, born in Sheboygan, Sheboygan County, the son of Henry and Amalia Lenhardt. He is survived by three children and six grandchildren. Richard was a WWII veteran and served with the United States Army. Following his service to our country, he graduated from University of Wisconsin, Stout Campus and joined General Motors Corporation. After General Motors, Richard had a long career as a teacher at Hartford Union High School. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday 08 January at New Castle Place, 12600 North Port Washington Road, Mequon. In lieu of flowers, donations were requested for the Washington County Humane Society.

Ralph H. Meyer

Ralph H. Meyer of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 88 years on 23 November 2010. Ralph was the beloved husband of 57 years to Marion Neff and loving father of two children. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie and Ida. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Ralph served in the United States Army; he was a chauffeur for a lieutenant colonel in Italy for two years. After his service, he was employed for 34 years in commercial construction for Hunzinger Construction. Ralph served with the Cedarburg Emergency Government for many years. He loved to travel and garden. Funeral services were held on 26 November 2010 at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg. Interment was in Immanuel Cemetery.

Gerald H. Knuth, also known as Jerry, of the town of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA died at the age of 85 years on Sunday, 28 November 2010. Gerald was born in Milford, Steward County, Nebraska on 04 February 1925. He was the son of Harry and Lydia (Barth) Knuth. Gerald served in the United States Navy during World War II and was very proud of his service. He married Esther Sheets in 1944 and was a dairy farmer in the state of Washington. In 1964 he moved back to Nebraska and worked for E&K Drywall and in the late 1960s he became the owner of Knuth Drywall Service in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin. Gerald was very active in the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36, local tractor clubs and the Dodge County EAA Flyers Club Chapter 897. He was survived by his three children. Gerald was further survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lydia Knuth; and his brothers, Lawrence and Wilber Knuth. Visitation was held on Tuesday, 07 December 2010 at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend. Additional visitation and funeral services were held in Goehner, Steward County with inurnment in Salem Cemetery. Memorials to the Dodge County EAA Flyers Club Chapter 897 are appreciated.

Joseph Nicholas Weninger

Joseph Nicholas Weninger peacefully passed away at the age of 84 years at his residence on Monday, 06 December 2010. Joseph was born in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA on 10 October 1926, the son of Andrew and Mary (Schmidt) Weninger. He worked on the family farm in Nabob, Dodge
County and graduated from West Bend High School in June of 1944. Joseph was proud to serve his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. Shortly after his honorable discharge in 1946, he was introduced to the love of his life, Ethel Spaeth. They were united in marriage on 24 July 1948 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend and made their home in the town of Polk, where they raised their six sons and six daughters, whom he often referred to as his "angels."
Joseph would frequently quip, "Life isn’t easy in southeastern Wisconsin," but he was a hard working man and lovingly supported his wife and family over the years by various means. Primarily, he was a self employed carpenter and was recognized for his high quality craftsmanship. In his free time, when he wasn’t simply gazing into the eyes of his beautiful bride, Joe enjoyed fishing, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing a good hand of cribbage, hitting baseballs for the boys when they were young and playing horseshoes. In his retirement years he enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center and winning at Rummikub against his "Tweety." Joe was also a member of the West Bend Moose Lodge No. 1398. Most of all, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He looked forward to Saturday mornings when family and friends often stopped by for visits and good cheer. Joe was survived by his wife, Ethel and their 12 children. He is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his longtime friend and muskie fishing partner, James E. McGlenn. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Margaret Spaeth; son, Alan; granddaughter, Erin O'Neal; brothers-in-law, Denis Vogt, Oscar Beder, Louis Theisen and David Spaeth. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, 15 December 2010 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 200 East Washington Street, Slinger where the Reverend Richard Stoffel presided. Visitation was at the church on Wednesday. Private interment took place in Old St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
