Fred M. Powers

M, b. 10 December 1915, d. 08 November 2005
      Fred M. Powers of Random Lake, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, entered eternal peace at the age of 89 years on Tuesday, 08 November 2005 surrounded by his loving family at Gables on the Pond. Fred was born on 10 December 1915, son of Harry and Mary (Bernard) Powers in Toronto, Canada. He married May Zimmerman in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin where the couple raised a family of their own. Fred honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II from 1944-1946 in Okinawa. He was a retiree of Allis Chalmers of West Allis and Chrysler Outboard Motor Company of Harford, and was a volunteer at the Washington County Mental Health Center. Fred was a member of the Hartford Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post 19, Badgerland Striders and Our Savior Lutheran Church of West Bend. He will always be remembered and loved by his cherished wife, May; his four children, and two grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and three brothers. A funeral service was held on Friday, 11 November at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend. Pastor Oscar Kraft officiated. Interment followed on Friday at Highland Memorial Park, 14875 West Greenfield Avenue, New Berlin, Waukesha County. Visitation with family and friends was held on Friday.

Jerald W. Bell

M, b. 01 December 1933, d. 06 November 2005
      Funeral services were held on 11 November 2005 at Advent Lutheran Church ELCA in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Jerald W. Bell, also known as Jerry, who was born to eternal life at the age of 71 years on Sunday, 06 November 2005. The Reverend Dr. Janis Kinens officiated the service and the burial took place at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. Jerald was born in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, and grew up in the area of Richfield and Jackson, Washington County. Throughout his life he loved spending time and having fun with his brothers and sisters and extended family. He served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War. Jerald and his wife Laurie were married for 45 years. He was an active member at Advent Lutheran Church, serving in many capacities. He retired from the Wisconsin Gas Company in the mid 1990s as a systems analyst. He and Laurie traveled throughout the United States and to many countries. Jerald loved watching the Packers and played a mean game of sheepshead. His gentle nature and wonderful sense of humor were remembered by all. Jerry was the beloved husband of Laurie Hoffmann; father of two children, and grandfather of two.

Richard G. Hoffman

      Richard G. Hoffman of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 81 years on Saturday, 12 November 2005, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the town of West Bend. Richard was born on 22 September1924 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of Max and Ida (Jordan) Hoffman. At an early age he and his family moved to Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Just after his high school graduation, World War II began. At that time Richard served his country by enlisting in the United States Army Air Corps. After the war he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Marion J. Phillips, on 15 July 1948 in Minneapolis. Richard began working at Motors Insurance Corporation, a division of General Motors, as a regional claims manager. During his career he had the opportunity to work in Minneapolis, Duluth, Minnesota and Chicago, Illinois. He was employed with the company for 30 years before retiring in 1981. After his retirement, Richard worked for another GM appraiser and eventually began his own appraisal business. Richard and Marion moved to West Bend in 1993. He was survived by his loving wife, Marion, three children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Mabel Montgomery, and a sister-in-law, Betty Walters. In accordance with Richard’s request, private cremation services were held.

Robert A. Renner

M, b. 07 December 1932, d. 14 November 2005
      Robert A. Renner of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, was welcomed home by his Lord at the age of 72 years on Monday, 14 November 2005 at Synergy Health St. Joseph Hospital, town of Polk. Robert was born on 07 December 1932, son of Casper F. and Stella M. (Garvens) Renner in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, where he was raised. His family moved to the Kewaskum area where Robert received the remainder of his education. He worked on his family’s farm, and then he was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Rita M. Rohlinger on 15 October 1955 at Holy Trinity Church in Kewaskum, Washington County. Robert continued to devote his dedication and labors to farming, until he became a dedicated employee of Johnson Bus Co. in Menomonee Falls, Waukeshaw County. He later devoted his time and skills to West Bend Sand and Stone until his retirement. Robert was a member of Operating Engineer’s Local 139. He will be remembered and deeply missed by his beloved wife, Rita, five children, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Casper and Stella, and his son, Edward Renner. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, 17 November at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church, 415 Roosevelt Drive, West Bend, where Father Bales officiated. Visitation with family and friends was held at the church. Interment took place on Friday in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Donald L. Doherty

M, b. 18 November 1932, d. 29 August 2005
      Donald L. Doherty, also known as Don, our beloved dad, brother, grandpa and friend, entered into the presence of the Lord at the age of 81 years in Pass Christian, Harrison County, Mississippi, as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Friends and relatives may gather to celebrate Don’s life on 19 November at Brown Deer United Methodist Church. A memorial service was held at the church and a reception followed in the church hall. Don was a native of Rhinelander. He joined the military, completed his training on the Gulf Coast and served overseas during World War ll. In 1948, he was united in marriage to Shirley J. Johnson. Don and Shirley moved from Cedarburg, Ozaukee County to Pass Christian, Mississippi in 1993. He was survived by his two daughters and seven grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his wife Shirley J. Doherty, a brother Ralph, and his parents Arlie and Belle Doherty. "For those who loved and lost you, your memory will always be with us."

Lawrence J. Puestow

      Lawrence J. Puestow died at the age of 67 years on Wednesday, 12 October 2005 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, Fond du Lace County, Wisconsin, USA. Lawrence was born on 08 August 1938, son of Lawrence H. and Cecil (Boecher) Puestow. On 11 February 1993, he married Patricia Robison in Fond du Lac. He was a dairy farmer in the Jackson, Washington County area and was formerly employed at Taylor Made Floors. Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 06 December 1961 until 03 December 1965. He was survived by his wife, Patricia, four children, a grandson. A memorial service was held on Monday, 17 October at the Twohig Funeral Home, Fond du Lac, where the Reverend Jim Cieszynski officiated. Visitation, at the funeral home, was on Monday.

Thomas F. Brisgal

      Thomas F. Brisgal of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 80 years on Saturday, 19 November 2005 at Angel Grace Hospice of Oconomowoc. He was born to Isadore G. and Frances (Eckhardt) Brisgal on 01 March 1925 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, and was raised in the Milwaukee area. After high school, Thomas entered the Unitred States Coast Guard during World War II. After the service, Tom married Shirley M. Schmidt on 08 November 1946 in Crown Point, Indiana. He graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) with a degree in engineering. Tom and Shirley raised their family in the Milwaukee and Racine areas, then moved to Florida for seven years, returning to the West Bend area in 1995. Tom loved spending time with his wife and family and enjoyed golfing and boating. He was a member of Hon-E-Kor Golf Club in Kewaskum. He was survived by his loving wife, Shirley, four children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother-in-law, Melvin Schmidt. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, 23 November at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel on West Bend. Cremation took place at Paradise Cremation Service, West Bend. Visitation was at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Robert John Bertram

      A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on 19 November 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Robert John Bertram, also known as Bob, of Grafton. He died at the age of 84 years on Monday, 14 November 2005 at home surrounded by his family. The Reverend Steven Lampe celebrated the Mass. Visitation was held at the church and interment took place at St. Mary Cemetery in Port Washington. Robert was born on 09 August 1921 near Barton, Washington, son of Al and Margaret Bertram. He was baptized and received First Holy Communion at St. Mary Catholic Church in Barton. Bob spent his childhood years in many different places (including Barton and Milwaukee) because his father built highways and the family moved often. When Bob was 16, the family settled on a farm near Grafton. Later his parents purchased a farm on 17th Avenue and Falls Road in Grafton, which Bob later bought. After farming, Bob’s first job was at the Cedarburg Egg Plant. On 18 May 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy and spent six weeks at Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Illinois. On 29 June 1944, he married Betty Lauters in Port Washington at St. Mary Catholic Church. Bob then shipped out to the Pacific and became a crew member aboard the tug boat USS Osceola (YTB-129) stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. While deployed, he made Seaman 2nd Class and was then promoted to Fireman 1st Class. He kept in touch daily with his new wife by writing letters until he returned home in February of 1946. Bob began working at Hanzinger Construction in Milwaukee and was a molder at Gilson Foundry in Fredonia. Then Bob decided to buy his own silo equipment and began building silos and grain bins in Illinois, Iowa, Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Minnesota. In 1972, he took his family to Pueblo West, Colorado, where he worked as an excavator and was lastly employed by Sutherland Lumber Company. In 1990, Bob and Betty retired to Sunbird, Arizona. By the year 2000, the family was back in Grafton. Bob enjoyed hunting, some golf, playing cards and a lot of sightseeing. As he grew older, his greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and relatives. Bob was survived by his wife Betty of Grafton, eight children, 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary and brother Al.

Raymond A. Qualmann

      Raymond A. Qualmann of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 85 years on Saturday, 19 November 2005 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph Hospital in West Bend. Raymond was born on 29 February 1920 in Iron Ridge, Dodge County, son of Reinhold and Lydia (Sell) Qualmann. He married Margaret Arbinger on 04 December 1948 in the town of Scott, Sheboygan County. Raymond served in the United States Army Air Force in Japan at the end of WWII. Following his discharge, he farmed for many years, during which time he worked at John Deere in Horicon, Dodge County. Later he worked as a mechanic at John Deere Implement Co. in Hartford, Washington County. He was a member of the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36. He was survived by his wife, Margaret, eight children, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Baszynski and Hertha Gentz; a brother, Norman, a half-brother, Herman Kintopp, Jr, and a half-sister, Ella Bittner. Funeral services were on Tuesday, 22 November 2005 at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend. Burial followed on Wednesday in Washington County Memorial Park in that same city. Visitation was on Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

John C. Russell

      John C. Russell, aslso known as Jack, of the town of Erin, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 88 years on Thursday, 17 November 2005 at Angel Grace in Oconomowoc. John was born on 27 November 1916 in Hartford, son of John C. and Pearl (Chambers) Russell. He married Geraldine Taubert on 07 July 1966 at St. Jude in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County. Jack graduated from Hartford High School class of 1934 and from Marquette University in 1940. He received his master’s degree in 1955, after serving in the United States Army during WWII with the 45th Division in Europe. He received three Purple Hearts and the Bronze star. Jack was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Hartford Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post 19 and the Hartford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8834. Jack worked as an administrator in the Elementary schools in Milwaukee. He loved refinishing old furniture and playing sheepshead. Jack was survived by his loving wife, Gerry, three children, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Pearl Russell, and his brother, Robert J. Russell. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, 22 November 2005 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in the town of Erin where Father Fred Alexander officiated. Family greeted relatives and friends on Monday at the funeral home and there was a prayer vigil. Entombment was at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, Waukesha County.

Howard S. Schuster

      Howard S. Schuster, 85, of Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Theresa, Dodge County and Slinger, Washington County, died at the age of 85 years on Sunday, 20 November 2005 at his residence. Howard was born on 19 January 1920 in Theresa to the late Willard and Mathilda (Koenig) Schuster. He married Emily J. Krueger on 03 May 1947 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Theresa. Howard was employed with General Telephone Company (GTE) as a field supervisor, retiring after 28 years. He was a member of Eastside Lutheran Church in Madison and a former member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Theresa. Howard served his country in the United States Army during World War II from 26 February 1942 - 13 January 1946 as a sergeant in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Theresa Miller-Justman-Guelig American Legion Post 270 for 61 years. He served as commander for three terms. He was also a member of the Slinger Rotary Club and a loyal Badger football team fan. He was suvived by his wife, Emily, three daughters, and four grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three brothers, Rueben, Carl and Kenneth Schuster. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, 23 November at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Theresa where Reverend Kenneth Gast officiated. Interment followed in Union Cemetery, Theresa. Graveside military rites were conducted by the Theresa Miller-Justman-Guelig American Legion Post 270. Visitation was at the church on Wednesday.

Thomas F. Hupfer

      Thomas F. Hupfer of the town of Trenton, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 75 years on Monday, 21 November 2005 at St. Luke Medical Center, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County. Thomas was born on 27 May 1930 in Milwaukee, son of John W. and Theresa A. (Von Rueden) Hupfer. In 1939, the family moved to the Newburg, Washington County area. Upon graduating from Holy Trinity Catholic School, Tom attended West Bend High School. Following his graduation in 1948, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, returning to the Newburg area after his discharge in 1954. On 29 September 1956, Tom was united in marriage to Diane L. Schloemer at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg. For many years, he worked as a semi-truck driver for the former American Can Company in Milwaukee, retiring in 1985. He then worked at Mayfield Nursery in the town of West Bend for a number of years. In addition to his work, he enjoyed hunting, camping and being an outdoorsman. Throughout his life, family was extremely important to Tom. Whether it was being a loving husband, a caring dad, a fun-loving grandpa and great-grandpa, his family was always very special to him. He was survived by his wife, Diane, seven children, eight grandchildren, and a great-grandson. Preceding him in death were an infant daughter, Monica; a sister, Pat Wagner and a brother-in-law, Chuck Palacek. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, 25 November at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg. Father Guy Gurath was the presider. Inurnment was in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation was at the church on Friday.

Fred C. Ashley

      Fred C. Ashley of Jackson, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, entered eternal peace at the age of 81 years on Tuesday, 22 November 2005 at Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend. Fred was born on 26 October 1924, son of Fredrick C. and Cleo R. (Walls) Ashley in Park Ridge, Cook County, Illinois. The family remained in Park Ridge for some time, and later moved to Chicago. Fred honorably served his country during World War II with the United States Coast Guard. While carrying out his duty, he was stationed on three ships that were struck and sunk by torpedo raids, and he courageously survived all three of the attacks. Fred married Leona B. Simon on 13 October 1967 in Chicago, where the couple lived until moving to Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin and later residing in Jackson. He was employed in the maintenance department at Power Products of Grafton, formerly known as Tecumseh Products. He was a dedicated truck driver for Omega in Waukesha, where he and Leona would frequently drive truck together. Fred was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Fred will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his beloved wife and devoted friend, Leona, and his treasured son. Preceding him in death were his parents, Fredrick and Cleo Ashley. A pPrivate funeral service was held at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend. Cremation took place at Paradise Cremation Services in West Bend.

Anthony J. Plavec II

      Anthony J. Plavec II of Iron Ridge, Dodge County, Wisconsin, USA, entered eternal life at the age of 18 years on Tuesday, 22 November 2005 in the town of West Bend, Washington County. Cause of death was an automobile accident. Anthony was born on 07 March 1987, son of Anthony J. and Jamelee L. (Jackson) Plavec in West Bend, where he spent his childhood years, and graduated in 2004 from West Bend West High School. He later moved to the Iron Ridge area. Anthony enjoyed spending time weightlifting, rollerblading and paintballing. He was a hunter/jumper equestrian, and especially loved creative writing and the Fourth of July. Anthony was a member of Emmaus Bible Church, and was a former sound technician at church. He was also a member of the Awana Clubs. A precious son and cherished brother, Anthony will forever be remembered and deeply missed by his loving parents, Anthony and Jamelee Plavec, his treasured siblings, and his special loving friend, Amber Kelling. Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, James Jackson and Joseph Plavec. On 15 November, Anthony was accepted into the delayed entry program of the United States Marine Corps, and was scheduled to leave for basic training on 03 April 2006. Equally important to him was his personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, 29 November at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend where Reverend James L. Taylor officiated. Iterment took place on Wednesday in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation with family and friends was at the funeral home on Tuesday.

John Joseph Marcouiller

      A memorial service was held on Wednesday at the Schramka-Densow Funeral Home in Thiensville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for John Joseph Marcouiller, who passed away at the age of 78 years on Tuesday, 22 November 2005 surrounded by family at his home in Mequon. Visitation was held on Wednesday at the funeral home. John was born on 04 March 1927 in Tomahawk, Lincoln County, son of John Joseph and Pearl Catherine (Schulz) Marcouiller. He graduated from St. Mary Catholic School in Tomahawk in 1941. In 1945, he graduated from Merrill Senior High School. He attended Syracuse University in New York, where he graduated in 1949 with a bachelor of science degree in forrestry. John served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan from September 1950 to September 1952. After the military, he was employed by Consolidated from June 1949 to September 1950; by US Plywood from January 1953 to August 1971; and then worked for Sterling Custom Homes from November 1971 to May 1982. He semi-retired in 1982. John was a great outdoorsman. He loved deer hunting and was an avid fisherman. He was also very talented in sports. He earned a golden glove in boxing and, during high school, lettered in boxing, football and basketball. John was survived by his wife Patricia (Diggins-Michalski) Marcouiller (married Nov. 6, 1999); two sons, a stepdaughter, two stepsons, a granddaughter, eight stepgrandchildren. John was preceded in death by his first wife Maureen O’Riordan, who died in December 1997, and grandson Maxwell Charles, who died July 2004,and sister Audrey Beilke, who died in 1998.

William H. Ott Jr.

      A private funeral service was held for William H. Ott Jr, also known as Bill, who died a very peaceful death at the age of 82 years on Sunday, 20 November 2005 at Columbia St. Mary Hospital in Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. Williaim was born on 12 June 1923, son of William and Lydia (Ramthum) Ott Sr. of Cedarburg. After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp in May 1942. He held the rank of sergeant, serving as a radio operator for three years during World War II. After his military service, Bill was employed by the Square D Company as a machinist. He worked there for 33 years. Not long after his return from the service, Bill met Dorothy Albers. They were engaged one month after meeting and married six months later. Next June they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bill and Dorothy lived their lives as best friends. They were blessed with two children and two grandchildren. Bill loved and embraced every moment he had with his family. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Bill is survived by his wife Dorothy, two children, two grandchildren.

Reynold B. Tucker Jr.

      Reynold B. Tucker Jr., also known as Tuck, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of West Bend, died at the age of 81 years on Wednesday, 30 November 2005 at the Hartford Care Center. Reynold was born on 30 October 1924 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, son of Reynold and Edna (Jay) Tucker. He married Alice M. McCabe on 14 February 1953 at St. Sebastian Church in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Reynold was graduated from Virginia Episcopal School in 1942 where he won the T.F. Carouthers Award for best scholar and athlete. While serving in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII, he graduated from Advanced Navigator School in 1944. He served in the Burma-India-China Theatre and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1945 for his leadership and heroism during a bombing mission. Following his discharge from military service, he attended Hamilton College, graduating in 1950. After their marriage, Reynold and Alice settled in Milwaukee where Reynold became a very successful salesman. In 1972, they moved to West Bend. He was a member of the West Bend Lt. He was preceded in death by his son Cameron in 1989. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend where Mr. Donald Sass officiated. Burial followed on Monday in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, Waukesha County. Visitation was on Saturday at the funeral home.

Marvin H. Groth

      A committal service was held on 10 December 2005 at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center, South Chapel in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Marvin H. Groth of Sun City West, Arizona, who passed away at the age of 90 years on Tuesday, 22 November 2005 at his home. A memorial service was held on 29 November at Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West. Marvin was born in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin on 31 January 1915, son of Otto and Amanda Groth. During World War II, Marvin served for 3 1/2 years in the United States Army Air Corps. He worked for the federal government for 36 years and retired in 1977 as postmaster of Cedarburg. In 1985, Marvin and his wife Gertrude moved from Cedarburg to Arizona. They were charter members of Crown of Life Lutheran Church of Sun City West and volunteers for Sun Health Foundation at Boswell Hospital in Sun City. Marvin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gertrude (nee Krueger), two children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Albert G. Gillard

      Albert G. Gillard of Campbellsport, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, USA, went home to be with his Heavenly Father at the age of 68 years on Monday, 05 December 2005 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. Albert was born on 02 February 1937 in Owen, Clark County, son of Chester G. and Mary L. (Culp) Gillard. On 14 February 1959, Albert married his beloved wife of 46 years, Shirley Copland, at St. Mark Church in Peterborough, England. He served in the United States Air Force as an air policeman from 1954 until 1962. Albert worked as a machinist at Weasler Engineering in West Bend for 39 years until his retirement. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Campbellsport where he and members of his family sang in the choir for many years. Albert enjoyed computers, video photography, camping, traveling in the U.S. and England and other activities with his family. His family and spending time with them were very important to Albert. He was a much loved husband, son and father. Albert was survived by his wife, Shirley, five children, and 14 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his father and three brothers, Lawrence, Larry and James. Funeral services were held on Saturday, 10 December at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Campbellsport where
Reverend Paul A. Cerny officiateed. Burial followed in Union Cemetery in Campbellsport. Visitation was at the church.

Robert J. Stoffel Sr.

      Funeral services were held on Friday, 09 December 2005 at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Robert J. Stoffel Sr., also known as Bob, of Cedarburg, who died peacefully at the age of 79 years at home on Monday, 05 December 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Thursday, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg and also at the church on Friday morning. A private burial followed at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County. Robert was born on 08 June 1926 in Sturgeon Bay, Door County, son of Arnold and Mamie (Moore) Stoffel. He was the eldest of six children. After graduating in 1944 from Sevastopol High School in Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy and became an electronics technician’s mate. He was honorably discharged in 1946. On June 12, 1948 Bob married Beverly Bscherer in Milwaukee. He attended Marquette University and graduated in 1950 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. In 1951, he graduated from Northwestern University where he earned a master degree in business administration. Robert worked in materials handling for more than 50 years. He was first employed by Rapistan, working in many locations to include Chicago, Illinois, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Cleveland, Ohio. Next, he was employed by the Raymond Corporation, located in Greene, New York. In 1957, he moved his family to Cedarburg. At that time he became a Raymond dealer and founded the Stoffel Equipment Company in Milwaukee. The company is now run by his son, Robert Jr. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Jaycees. He served as an instructor for religious education classes at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and volunteered his services to Junior Achievement. Actively involved in SCORE, the Business Clinic and Oracle, he used his expertise to help others start and manage their own businesses. Golf was Bob’s favorite recreational activity. He was an active member and officeholder in many senior golf associations. Retirement centered around daily activities such as Mass at Gesu Church in Milwaukee, swimming, breakfast with friends, weekly card games and, of course, golf. Robert was always the No. 1 supporter at his grandchildren’s sporting, music and dance events. He was survived by his wife Beverly, six children, and 10 grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill and John.

Edward J. Redig

      Edward J. Redig, also known as Ed, formerly of the town of Farmington, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 86 years on Monday, 12 December 2005 at the health care center of Cedar Community in the town of West Bend. Edward was born on 22 June 1919 in Slinger, son of Philip and Elizabeth (Speeter) Redig. He grew up in Slinger, attending local schools and graduated from Slinger High School. After high school, Edward worked at the West Bend Company. On 24 May 1941, he was united in marriage to June M. Nehm at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Nabob. June passed away on 01 May 2004. In 1944, Edward entered the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following his discharge, Edward returned to Washington County. In 1948, Ed and his wife purchased a farm in the town of Farmington, which he operated until retiring in 1984. In 1963, he was awarded the Washington County Outstanding Conservationist Award from the Kewaskum Kiwanis Club. Ed was a member of St. Michael Parish, where he sang in the choir for many years. He was survived by four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Ritger of Allenton; a sister-in-law, Audrey (Roman) Wagner of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Robert (Kathleen) Nehm of Princeton. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Barbara Ann Redig and a brother, Father Andrew Redig. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, 14 December at St. Michael Catholic Church, 8877 Forestview Road in St. Michaels (Kewaskum). Father Robert Artmann was the presider. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Visitation was at the church on Wednesday.

Paul M. Hustad

      Private funeral services were held on 12 December 2005 at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Paul M. Hustad of Grafton, who died at the age of 83 years Wednesday, 07 December 2005 at the Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg. The Reverend Kenton Wendorf, from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton, officiated the funeral service. Interment took place at Woodlawn Cemetery, where military honors were provided by the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355. Paul was born on 25 December 1921 in Cumberland, Barron County, son of Milo and Laura (Nelson) Hustad. During World War II, from 1943 to 1946, Paul served with the 306th Pilot Squadron of the Army Air Corps in Santa Ana, California. Paul married LaVerne Bauer and they remained best friends for over 53 years. Their marriage was blessed with two children. He is survived by his wife LaVerne and their two children, and three grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his brother Harold and his sister Estelle Kauffman.

John M. Leaman

      Funeral services were held on 13 December2005 at St. John Lutheran Church in Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for John M. Leaman, who passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years on 11 December 2005 at Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg. The Reverend Daryl Knox officiated the funeral service. John Leaman was born on 05 July 1919 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of John M. and Florence (Feldmeier) Leaman. Education was a very important part of John’s life. He finished number one is his class at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He then attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a master degree in engineering. John was very active throughout his life and enjoyed many outdoor sports. He truly excelled at bicycling. He was an active member of the American Wheelman Association, and won a national championship in 1938. During World War II, John served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Italy where he worked on the B-24 bombers during the war. John was a longtime resident of Grafton and also lived in the Cedarburg and Mequon area. He enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. John was also an avid golfer and member of the Ozaukee County men’s golf league. He is survived by his wife Patricia Martens of Mequon, two children, four stepchildren, four grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and brother Richard (Ruth) Leaman of Elm Grove. John was preceded in death by his first wife Jean (Semrow) Leaman.

Sylvester L. Otten

      Sylvester L. Otten, also known as Sod, of Slinger, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 76 years on Saturday, 17 December 2005 at the Bradley Health and Rehab Center in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County. Sylvester was born on 12 December 1929 in Barton, Washington County, son of Anthony and Cecelia (Goldammer) Otten. He was raised all his life in Barton, served in the United States Air Force from 1950-’54 and married his sweetheart on 02 May 1953 at St. Agnes Church in Milwaukee. Sylvester was the manager of Screw Machine Products Co. until his retirement, was part of Otten Brothers. Auction Service with his brother Eugene. He loved fishing and outdoor things, hunting and spending time with his friend Whitey Rick. Sylvester was a member of the West Bend Knights of Columbus, the St. Joseph Society and St. Mary Church in Barton since he was born. He was survived by his wife Janet, six children, 15 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary and Lucille; brother Leo "White;" two grandsons, Joseph Paul and Luke Fredrich; brother-in-law Jim Hill; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, 21 December 2005 at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church in Barton where Father Michael Moran officiated. Burial took place at St. Peter Cemetery in Farmington. In state at the church on Wednesday.

Gerald F. Klug

      Gerald F. Klug, also known as Moe and Gerry, of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 80 years on 10 February 2011. Beloved husband of Marie Sievert, father of two children, grandfather of four. Dear brother of the late Kenneth (Shirley). Further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service were on Wednesday, 16 February 2011, at the Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory, Cedarburg. Inurnment was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in that same city. Visitation at the Funeral Home was on Wednesday prior to the service. Gerald served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the the Cedarburg Peter Wollner Americal Legion Post 288. He was very active in the community.
