James Stanley Geddes

      A funeral service was held 25 March 2006 at Cottrill Funeral Home in Mayville, Dodge County, Wisconsin, USA, for James Stanley Geddes who died at the age of 76 years on 21 March 2006 at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Dane County. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon, Dodge County. James was born 11 July 1929 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of H. Stanley and Anna (Hertz) Geddes. He married Donna Manicke on 20 September 1952 in Hartland, Waukesha County. James graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1947. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1948-52 in San Angelo, Texas. He then attended Carroll College in Waukesha. Along with his wife, he owned and operated Geddesburg Restaurant at Wood’s Bridge from 1970-79. After retiring from Karak Manufacturing in Cedarburg, he became a resident of Mayville in 2001. Jim had many endeavors. He owned Wisconsin Pallet Co. in Colgate, Washington County and a charter boat. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and scuba diving. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 122 in Hartland, Hartland-Oconomowoc Masonic Lodge 42, Milwaukee Shriners and Ducks Unlimited. He was survived by his wife Donna of Mayville; son James (Cindy) of Fox Lake; daughters Susan of Horicon and Sally of Madison; grandchildren Trisha, Jennifer, James H. and Samuel Geddes, and Andrew and Darren Muenchow; great-granddaughter Adrianna Geddes; and nephews Kevan (Deborah) Mayer and Kent Mayer. James was preceded in death by his parents; son Eric; and sister Ginia Mayer.

Frederick C. Srinkmann

      Frederick C. Sprinkmann of Green Lake, Green Lake County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 77 years on Wednesday, 06 April 2006 at the Markesan Resident Home in Markesan. Frederick was born on 01 July 1928 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of Earnest and Florence (Hoffmann) Sprinkmann. Fred attended Beck Academy in Minnesota before serving in the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting and skiing. Frederick was a member of the Cedar Lake Yacht Club, the Green Lake Yacht Club and the Rotary Club. He was survived by his daughter, Kristina of Minocqua; and his brother, William Sprinkmann Sr. of big Cedar Lake. Preceding him in death was his brother, Earnest Jr., also known as Buddy. Funeral services were held on Monday, 10 April at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, followed by burial in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation was on Monday at the funeral home.

Richard Glenn Eierman

      Richard Glenn Eierman, also known as Zuk, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 57 years on 08 April 2006. Richard was born on 07 March 1949 in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee County. He lived on Big Cedar Lake, Washington County and spent parts of the winter in his home in Venice, Florida. Richard was owner and operator of NiPhos Coatings Inc. of Slinger, Washington County. He was graduated from Wauwatosa East High School in 1967, and earned engineering and accounting degrees from The University of Wisconsin-Madison Campus. He served in the United States Air Force and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Richard also served on the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association Scholarship Committee. He hosted the annual August BCL Summer Follies at his lake home. Richard was a proud sponsor of Slinger Little League, Slinger Advancement Association and Boy Scout Pack 3731, among other organizations and groups. While in Florida, he was a member of the Venice Beach Committee. He was survived by his most beloved wife, Sonia; their pets, Grunia and Keesa; his sister, Nancy J. (Richard) Bartelt of Venice, Florida; his brothers, Dr. Robert (Lisa) Eierman of Eau Claire, and Donald Eierman of Slinger. He was also survived by nieces, Lynette (Joel) Meissner and Natalie, Lauren and Rachel Eierman. Cremation was in Venice, Florida. A memorial celebration was held on 14 May at the Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend.

Donald E. Alexander

      A funeral service was held on Saturday, 15 April 2006 at Advent Lutheran Church, W63 N642 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Donald E. Alexander, also known as Don, of Cedarburg, who died at the age of 64 years on Monday, 10 April 2006 at Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center. Visitation was held on Sarurday. Burial took place at Everton Cemetery in Indiana. Don served in the United States Air Force as an enlisted man, and following completion of college and Offivers Candidate School, as a captain. Don was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, the Cedarburg Peter Wollner Legion Post 288 and the Cedarburg/Grafton Rotary. He was an entrepreneur and volunteered for a variety of organizations including the Cedarburg Volunteer Fire Deptment. Don loved books, mathematics, theology, history and traveling. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Carol Campbell, whom he married on 06 March 1965; his sisters, Lola Embry, Sandra (Richard) Zimmer, Karen (Tom) Luckett and Linda (Larry) Fisher; and his brother, Richard (Ruth) Alexander. Don was preceded in death by his parents.

Roger A. Oelerich

M, b. 26 May 1925, d. 12 April 2006
      Roger A. Oelerich of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, was welcomed into the gates of heaven at the age of 80 years on Wednesday, 12 April 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph Hospital. Roger was born on 26 May 1925, son of John P. and Anna (Utchig) Oelerich in New Holstein, Calumet County and was raised in the Pipe area. He attended and was graduated from Fond du Lac High School, Fond du Lac County. After graduation, Roger honorably served his country with the United States Army during World War II. After returning home, he was introduced to Dorothy Hartman at Eagles Ballroom in Oshkosh on a blind date. On 16 October 1948, the couple devoted their love and their lives to one another in Oshkosh and began a beautiful family of their own. Their family found residence in several areas, including Fond du Lac, Omaha, Nebraska and Iowa, until eventually settling in Menomonee Falls, where they remained for 40 years. Roger was a dedicated salesman at Omar Bakery in Fond du Lac, and later at Victor Comptometer in the Milwaukee area. In 2000, they moved to West Bend. Throughout Roger’s life, his family was held at the center of his heart. He loved spending every opportunity he was given to be a part of their lives, whether he was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events or going to musicals. He loved to be a father and a grandfather. He also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and was known for giving the grandest of hugs. Roger has forever touched the lives and hearts of his cherished wife and best friend, Dorothy; his treasured children, Linda of Greenfield, Ind., Tim (Lynn) Oelerich of West Bend, Barry (Jackie) Oelerich of Germantown and Paul (Ann) Oelerich of Menomonee Falls; his 13 adored grandchildren; 10 loving great-grandchildren; and his dear brother, John (Betty) Oelerich of Grafton. Roger was united in heaven with his parents; his dear son, Randall, who passed away in 2001; and his brother, Gerald Oelerich. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, 17 April at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, where Father Gerald Brittain officiated. Cremation took place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend, followed by inurment of ashes in St. Mary Cemetery in Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County. Visitation with family and friends was on Monday at the church.

Richard J. DuFour

      Richard J. DuFour, also known as Dick, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 42 years on Thursday, 13 April 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph Hospital. Rick was born on 08 August 1963, son of Spencer Joseph and Virginia Ann (Naparalla) DuFour in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County. The family later moved to the Port Washington area where Rick was raised. He attended Port Washington High School graduating with the class of 1981. After graduation he went on to further his education at Ellsworth College for several years. Rick honorably served his country with the United States Air Force and was able to experience parts of the country he may not have otherwise. After returning from the service, he devoted his love and companionship to Tammy L. Waala on 31 December 1997 in West Bend. The couple resided in the West Bend area where they began a loving family of their own that Rick was so very fond of. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed fishing in Alma, Wisconsin, watching the Packers, and various sports, including basketball, baseball and golf. He also loved music and often inspired others to open their doors to the blues and rock ‘n’ roll. Above all, Rick shed his purest love onto his wife and children; helping his children in any way he could. He will be forever loved and missed by his companion and best friend, Tammy L. DuFour; his adored children, Ezra and Emma; his loving mother and father, Spencer and Virginia Dufour of Belgium; dear brother, Randy (Deb) DuFour of Belgium; cherished grandmother, Lee DuFour of Waukesha; treasured goddaughter, Miranda; mother-in-law, Pat Jossart of West Bend; and siblings-in-law, Jean (Dennis) Waraksa of West Bend, Lisa (Ron) Hays of West Bend, Kathy Waala of West Bend, Jeff (Cealie) Waala of Kewaskum, Dale (Diane) Waala of Kewaskum, and Dan (Barb) Waala of Hartland. He was reunited in Heaven with his maternal grandfather, and paternal grandparents. A Memorial Service to honor Richard was held on Tuesday, 18 April at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend), where Reverend Lee Bailey officiated. Cremation took place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend. Visitation with family and friends was held on Tuesday, 18 April at the funeral home.

Ernest Sader

      A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church North, 1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Ernest Sader, also known as Ernie, formerly of Port Washington, Mequon and Crivitz, Marinette County, who died at the age of 92 years on Monday, 17 April 2006 at Samaritan Health Center in West Bend, Washington County where he had been a resident since November. Burial was in St. James Rose Hill Cemetery Sussex, Waukesha County. Visitation was at the church on Thursday. Ernie was born on 02 January 1914 in Ramona, Marian County, Kansas, son of Peter and Katrina Sader. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, serving in North Africa and England. On 10 December 1943, he married Fern Pentony at St. Rose Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. He worked as a mechanic at American Can Company in Milwaukee, retiring in 1975 after 26 years. Mr. Sader was a former member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Milwaukee and was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg, the Mequon Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post 457 and a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus. Ernest was survived by his wife Fern of Cedarburg; children Donna Baumgartner of Leesburg, Florida, Linda (Daniel) Ramthun of Grafton, Judith (James) Ramthun of Cedarburg and David (Joyce) Sader of York, South Carolina; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Merton M. Habeck

      Merton M. Habeck of the Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the town of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 87 years on Saturday, 15 April 2006. Merton was born on 07 June 1918 in Wausau, Marathon County, son of Otto and Adela (Koehler) Habeck. He was united in marriage to Esther Weinke on 09 April 1938 in Crystal Falls, Michigan. Esther preceded him in death in October, 1996. During World War II, Merton served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Following the war, in 1948, Merton and his family moved to West Bend where he became a supervisor of newspaper production for the West Bend News. He worked for the paper for over 30 years before retiring in 1970. During his retirement, he and Esther moved to Riverview, Florida where they enjoyed many years together. Merton was survived by two children, Sally of Campbellsport and Judy of West Bend; three grandchildren, Scott (Jayne) Topel of West Bend, Shelly Rowe of Petal, Mississippi and Skip (Christine) Topel of Germantown; seven great-grandchildren, Todd and Kayla Topel, Corey, Alyssa and Deven Rowe, and Amanda and Kimberly Topel; a sister-in-law, and Irene Habeck of Manitowoc. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and two brothers, Lawrence and Melvin Habeck. Cremation took place at Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service of West Bend.

Robert W. Schalk

      Robert W. Schalk, also known as Bob, of Allenton, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior at the age of 63 years on Tuesday, 18 April 2006 at Kathy Hospice, town of West Bend. Bob was born on 22 September 1942 to William J. and June A. (Hefko) Schalk in Marshfield, Wood County where he also grew up. He attended and was graduated from Stratford High School in 1960. Bob dedicated his time and hard workmanship to farming and other various jobs that he could help others out with. He then honorably enlisted in the United States Army during the Cold War. After serving his country, he returned home and continued farming. Through mutual friends, he was introduced to Mary Jane Polzin, and on 14 April 1973, Bob devoted his love and his life to Mary in Abbotsford, Clark County. The couple moved to the West Bend area and began a beautiful family of their own. Bob then became employed by Slinger Manufacturing. In his free time, he loved camping, working on his hobby farm and especially loved spending quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Bob will forever be remembered and loved by his beloved wife and best friend, Mary; his cherished children, Andy (Kristin) Schalk of Milwaukee and Alexandria "Alex" (Bryan Watson) Schalk of Newport Richie, Florida; his treasured grandsons, Conrad, Tyler, Jamie and Logan Schalk; adored granddaughters, Angel Schalk and Cheyenne Watson; and his dear brothers, Ted (Shirley) Schalk of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jack (Carol) Schalk of Marshfield and Conrad Schalk of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Lewis J. Dolezal

      A memorial service was held on Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, 1193 Lakefield Road, Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Lewis J. Dolezal of Cedar Grove, who was called home at the age of 89 years early on Wednesday, 19 April 2006 with his family at his side. The Reverend Daryl Knox, pastor of the church, officiated. Inurnment was at Lakefield Cemetery in Grafton. Friends called at the church on Saturday. A memorial fund was established in Lewis’ name. Military rites were conducted by the Plymouth Veterans of Foreign Wars World Cheese Center Post 5612 at the cemetery. Lewis was born on 31 August 1916 in Ashland, son of Anthony and Cora Belle (Chalfant) Dolezal. Lewis was involved with the Civilian Conservation Services until he joined the United States Army in November 1941. There he served in the "A" 504th Military Police Battalion. During his service he was stationed in Iceland, England and France. It was during his tour of duty in England that Lewis met his wife Doreen Heath. Lewis and Doreen were married on 09 June 1945. They were married for 60 years before Doreen preceded him in death on 27 March 2006. Lewis was employed at Pfister & Vogel Tanning Company in Milwaukee from 1947 until his retirement in 1979. Over his years at Pfister & Vogel, Lewis worked as an oiler in the power department, repair, S & S and beam house departments, serving in supervisory positions for 14 years. Lewis also sold Mason Shoes for many years. Lewis loved to hunt and fish. He truly enjoyed many camping trips to Ashland and throughout the United States with his family. Lewis was an avid vegetable gardener. He was very active with St. John Lutheran Church in Grafton where he helped out with many activities including the fall festival and the chili supper. He volunteered at the Mequon and Cedarburg senior centers for food and friendship, square-danced with the Country Prominaders, loved bowling and was active with the Ozaukee Senior Games. Survivors include sons Kenneth of Elkhart Lake, Richard (Linda) of Saukville and Timothy (Denise) of Cedar Grove; daughter Mary (Tom) of Ashland; brothers Robert of Holly, Colorado, Art (Marge) of Denver, Colorado and Larry (Ruth) of Ohio City, Colorado; sisters Beatrice Olson of St. Petersburg, Florida., and Marion Wilhelm of Ashland; brother-in-law Francis Moran of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sisters-in-law Helen Dolezal of Woodland, Washington, Pauline Dolezal of Ashland and Zora Dolezal of Beaumont, California. Lewis was also well loved by his 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Jeffrey; daughter Susan Larsh; brothers Bill, Harold, Herbert and George; sisters Mildred, Cora, Charlene and Evelyn; and three grandsons.

LaVern Hoffman

      LaVern Hoffman, also know as Vern, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 81 years on Saturday, 22 April 2006 at his residence. He was born on 18 July 1924 in Muskegon, Michigan, son of Louis and Emma (DePow) Hoffman. Vern served in the United States Navy as a medical photographer and corpsman during the Korean War. He was a self-employed microscope salesman, operating his business, Micro Sale, for many years. Vern was united in marriage to Leonida Nicdao on 09 February 1992 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 46 years. Vern was the chairman of the Knights of Columbus Sunshine Committee for many years, until he was unable to continue due to his health. He enjoyed photography as a hobby and also enjoyed model trains and railroads. He was survived by his wife, Leonida; a sister, Therese Ruff; other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, 27 April at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, where Reverend Gerald Brittain presided. Burial was in Holy Angels Cemetery, West Bend, on Friday. Visitation was at the church on Thursday.

Joseph J. Wagner Sr.

      Joseph J. Wagner Sr., also known as Joe, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at his residence at the age of 84 years on Wednesday, 19 April 2006. Joseph was born on 01 January 1922 in Lannon, Waukessha County, son of Anton and Magdalena (Bater) Wagner. He married Gertrude Hetzel on 10 July 1945 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. Joseph owned and operated Wagner’s Tap from 1956 to 1970. He also worked for International Stamping for many years until his retirement in 1984. Joseph was a retired member of the Hartford Fire Department and served as an assistant fire chief and then became fire chief in the early 1970s. He belonged to the Veterans of Foreigh Wars, he enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time at their lake cottage with family. Joseph was survived by his wife, Gertrude; three sons, Richard (Charleen) of Hartford, Joseph Jr. (Heidi) of Hartford, and Gregory (Susan) of Colgate; one daughter, Carol (Jon) of Hartford; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Martin (Lorraine) Hetzel of Hartford; and two sister-in-laws, Georgia Hetzel of Hartford, and Virginia (James) Menzel of Hartford. Joseph was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Sunday, 23 April 2006 at St. Kilian Catholic Church, where Father Michael Petrie officiated. The family greeted relatives and friends at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment was at St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.

John J. O'Meara

      John J. O’Meara DDS, also know as Jack, 96, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Durand, Pepin County died at the Health Care Center of Cedar Community at the age of 96 years on Saturday, 01 April 2006. John was born on 15 July 1909 in West Bend, son of Joseph and Caroline (Thoma) O’Meara. After graduating from Marquette University Dental School, he established a dental practice in West Bend. On 25 September 1937, he was united in marriage to Frances Quinnell in Neillsville, Clark County. Frances passed away 20 February 1994. In 1942, Jack entered the United States Army, serving as a dental officer. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to West Bend where he continued his dental practice until 1955 when the family moved to Durand. He and his wife returned to the West Bend area in 1993. John was ssurvived by two children, Don (Carolyn) of Hartford and Judy of Washington, D.C; four grandchildren, John, Mary Noel (David) Cvetan, Michael and Christa (Charles) Hart; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Mark O’Meara of LaCrosse; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, 29 April at Holy Angels Catholic Church, West Bend, where Father Gerald Brittain presided. Burial followed in Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation was at the church.

Daniel D. Prag

      Daniel D. Prag, also known as Danny, of Slinger, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, entered into eternal peace at the age of 50 years at Aurora Medical Center of Hartford on Wednesday, 26 April 2006. Danny was born on 09 June 1955 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County where he was also raised. He attended John Marshall High School and graduated with the class of 1972. He later dedicated his honorable service to the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. After returning from the service, he settled again in the Milwaukee area where he was a devoted employee at Super Steel. After several years back in Milwaukee, he met his soul mate, Anne Gaustad, and they moved to the Slinger area. Danny was known for being a dedicated worker, patriotic and artistic in many ways. He was very insightful and was born with the beautiful talent of being a writer. His thoughts and words written on paper created a masterpiece. Those whose lives Danny has forever touched include his loving soul mate, Anne Gaustad of Slinger; his cherished children, Mariah Prag and Keith Gaustad; his dear siblings, Shari (Tom) Prag of Neosho, Charles (Chom Ok) Prag of Milwaukee, and Jeffrey Prag (special friend, Sonya) of Georgia; and two treasured nieces, Chomi and Yung-E Prag. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service to honor Danny was celebrated on Monday, 01 May 2006 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend), where Chaplain Cheryl Matusiak officiated. Interment took place on Tuesday, 02 May 2006 at Cedar Creek Cemetery in the town of Polk. Visitation with family and friends was held on Monday, 01 May 2006 at the funeral home.

      Leo J. Daniels, also know as Smiley, a longtime resident of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died peacefully at the age of 82 years on 27 April 2006. He was the beloved husband of Jean K. Kennelly; loving father of Mary (Peter) of Elm Grove and Michael Daniels of Hartford; treasured grandfather of Katie and Jay Reilly; dear brother of the late Joseph (Betty) Daniels of Hartford; and fond step-father of Rodney and Diane. He is also lovingly survived by five step-grandchildren. Leo served with the 82nd Airborne in WWII. He was a member of the Hartford Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post 19 and the Hartford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8834. Leo was a member of the Code 3 Rescue Specialists West Bend, the Washington County Local Emergency Planning Committee, a 50-year member of the Hartford Fire Department and a Hartford city alderman. Visitation under the direction of the Becker Ritter Funeral Home will be held at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home of Hartford (226 South Main Street), on Sunday April 30. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Kilian Church (264 West State Street, Hartford). A reception will follow at the church gathering space. A private graveside service was held.

      Jerome A. Giese, also known as Jerry, of Key West, FLorida and South Milwaukee died at the age of 62 on 30 May 2011. He is survived by his daughter Carrie (Shawn); grandchildren Ben, Hanna and Adam Pau; brothers Bob (Phyllis), Ron (Chris) and Rick Giese; and sister Carla (Steve) Stoever. Jerry was a United States Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War. Visitation took place at the Funeral Home on Thursday, 09 June. Funeral Service with reception to follow at Ron Giese's residence. Interment was on Friday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Wahington County, Wisconsin, USA. (Hwy 60).

Edwin D. Myre

      Edwin D. Myre of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, entered into eternal peace at his home at the age of 77 years on Wednesday, 03 May 2006. Edwin was born on 23 December 1928, son of Claude H. and Rosa A. (Martin) Myre in Chippewa Falls, Chippewa County where he also spent his childhood. Edwin attended and was graduated from Notre Dame High School, and soon after honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. When he returned home from the service, he became employed at Woolworths and Hopfensperger Meats. On 13 August 1955, Edwin devoted his love and his life to Dorothy Kathryn Krabbe at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple began a loving family of their own. Edwin later became a dedicated employee at Frito Lay, where he remained for 27 years, and at Pick’n Save, where he was employed for 10 years. Because he especially enjoyed talking with and meeting new people, he enjoyed the times he worked at Frito Lay. Edwin was a member of the Knights of Columbus in West Bend. He has forever touched the lives and hearts of all of those close to him, including his cherished children, James (Pat) Myre of Naperville, Ill., Kathryn (Robert) of Wadsworth, Ohio, Richard (Roberta) Myre of West Bend, and Maggie (Mark) of Watertown; his treasured grandchildren, Sara (Kyle) Kritz, Jason, Kimberly, Emily and Rebecca; his dear step-grandchildren, Alan, Jeffrey, Robert, and Matthew; his loving sister, Marguerite Stensrud of Mesa, Ariz; and his sister-in-law, Lucille Hopfensperger. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Dorothy; two brothers, Carl and Francis; and two sisters, Rose Marie and Dolores. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at noon on Saturday, 06 May 2006 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, where Father Jeffrey Haines officiated. Entombment followed the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. Visitation with family and friends was held on Saturday, at the church.

Corine E. (Wald) Harris

      Corine E. (Wald) Harris of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior at the age of 71 years on Thursday, 04 May 2006 at Maple Dale Manor surrounded by her loving family. Corine was born on the Fourth of July in 1934, daughter of Martin J. and Janet M. (Wollenzien) Wald in Milwaukee, where she spent her childhood. She attended Divine Savior High School. After her graduation, she honorably joined the United States Air Force Reserves. During the time in which she spent serving her country, she met her soul mate, Edwin L. Harris. On April 18, 1958, in Fort Atkinson, Corine and Edwin dedicated their love and their lives to one another through their exchange of wedding vows. After marriage, the couple began a beautiful family of their own, whom Corine devoted her love and energy to raising and nurturing. They spent several years traveling with Edwin’s career in the Air Force, and in 1976, they moved to the Jackson area. Corine began working as a seamstress for Amity Leather from 1977 until 1994. After proudly retiring, Edwin and Corine purchased a motor home and spent their free time traveling. In addition to traveling, Corine also enjoyed every moment that she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren. Corine will be forever remembered and missed by her treasured children, Mark (Betty) Harris of Michigan, Martin (Julie) Harris of West Bend, Susan (Ron) of West Bend, and William (Patty) Harris of West Bend; her cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Patrick, Rebecca, Martin Jr. (Fiance Jamie), Rachel, Elizabeth, Crystal, Keith, Melissa, Samuel, Tina, Erin, and Krista; and her adored great-grandchildren, Derrick and Isabella. She will also be missed by her loving sister, Carol Swan of Jackson; her brother-in-law, Richard (Sue) Harris of Fort Atkinson; and her sister-in-law, Bernice (Don) Ferenbach of Michigan. Corine was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her parents, her loving husband and best friend, Edwin L. Harris; her dear son, Lawrence Micheal; and her loving sister, Dolores Jordan. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in her honor on Tuesday, 09 May 2006 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, Kewaskum, where Father Ed Kornath officiated. Interment followed on Tuesday, 09 May 2006 at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Visitation with family and friends was held on Monday6. A Prayer Service followed conducted by Chaplain Vince Marolla at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend.

Victor F. Roeglin

      Victor F. Roeglin of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at the Samaritan Health Center at the age of 86 years on Sunday, 07 May 2006. Victor was born on 21 November 1919, son of William and Helen (Colberg) Roeglin in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County where he spent his childhood. After his graduation from Cedarburg High School, he became employed as a welder. Victor continued working until 11 December 1942, when he honorably entered into the United States military during the Second World War. After serving his country, he returned to the West Bend area, where he was a dedicated employee at several places. Victor will be remembered as being highly patriotic, and was an active member of the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36. Placing of the American flags at cemeteries for Memorial Day was a great and proud honor of his. Victor also loved to fish, hunt and ride his Harley Davidson in his younger years. He was survived by his nieces, Judy (Michael) Novshek of the town of Erin and Joanne (Paul) Soper of Arizona; his great-nephew, Bruce (Traci) Scholze of West Bend; and his great-great-nephews, Tyler and Joshua Scholze of West Bend. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen; and his sister, Anita Wick. A funeral service to honor Victor was held on Friday, 12 May at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend. Cremation took place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend, followed by interment of ashes in Newark Cemetery in the town of Barton. Visitation with family and friends was held at the funeral home on Friday.

Erwin Quandt

      Edwin Quandt, also known as Ed, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 60 years on Thursday, 18 May 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital in the town of Polk. Edwin was born on 31 August 1945 in Los Angeles, California, son of Delmar and Lucille (Wild) Quandt. He moved with his family to West Bend at a young age and graduated from West Bend High School in 1963. Ed proudly served his country during Vietnam by enlisting in the United States Air Force. On 10 August 1968, the same day he was discharged from the service, he was united in marriage to Judy Race at Christ Lutheran Church in Jackson. Edwin worked in shipping and receiving for Unilever of Milwaukee for many years. He was a life-long Lutheran and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in West Bend. He was a member of the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36. He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin up north and especially loved fishing there. On beautiful days he loved going for rides on his Harley. Most of all, he loved his family and will be deeply missed by them. He was survived by his wife, Judy of West Bend; his three children, Jeffrey Quandt of West Bend, Jodi Quandt and her fiancŽe Chuck Guysick of Jackson, and Joshua Quandt of West Bend. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Joan (Charles) Polglaze of Whitewater; a niece, Jill Polglaze of Cudahy, and a nephew, Dan (Pam) Polglaze of Plymouth, Minnesota. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Helen Race; and his father-in-law, Marvin Race. A funeral service in celebration of Ed’s life was held on Tuesday, 23 May 2006 at Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. Reverend Oscar Kraft officiated. Cremation followed. Visitation with the family was at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Clarence F. Tordeur

      A memorial service was held on 27 May 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette, Marinette County, Wisconsin, USA, for Clarence F. Tordeur of Marinette, who passed away Saturday afternoon, on 20 May 2006 at Rennes Health Center-East in Peshtigo. The Reverend Keith A. Kolstad officiated at the funeral service. Inurnment took place at the Forest Home Mausoleum. Clarence was born on 01 September 1920, son of Fred and Anna (Carlson) Tordeur in Menominee, Michigan, where he spent his early years and was one of the first Sea Scouts. He graduated from Menominee schools and later from the Community College of Denver, Colorado. On 15 November 1941, he married the former June E. Monson. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Seabeas, serving in the South Pacific for the remainder of World War II. Upon returning to Menominee, he worked for his father until 1947, when he left to work on the construction of the Escanaba water plant. In 1953, Clarence moved to Cedarburg, where he was employed by Bergin Plumbing & Heating. Clarence was a licensed master plumber in the states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Colorado. He moved to Colorado in 1972, where he was employed as plumbing inspector for the city of Arvada, Colorado. Retiring in 1981, Clarence and June moved to Florida until 1991 when they returned to the Menominee-Marinette area. Clarence was a member of the Mequon Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post 457 and was a former member of the Oddfellows Lodge and Elks Lodges in Colorado and Menominee. He was survived by his wife June; daughters Lynda (Ronald) of Sheboygan and Rita (William) of Rhinelander; grandchildren Brian Ponfil of Phoenix, Arizona, Tania Switon of Belgium and Tracy England of Rhinelander; five great-grandchildren; brother Robert (Roberta) Tordeur of Menominee; and sisters Rosemary Luedke and Annabelle (Wesley) Prince, both of Menominee. Clarence was preceded in death by his brothers Louis, Fred Jr. and Ralph Tordeur; and sisters Violet Gillaume, Elizabeth Dedo and Carol Jean Tordeur.

Gregor A. Nigh

      Gregor A. Nigh of Kewaskum, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 82 years on Friday, 26 May 2006 at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk. Gregor was born on 10 August 1923 in the town of Auburn, Chippewa County, son of Elmer and Evaline (Schmidt) Nigh. On 26 February 1946, he was united in marriage to Anna Schoofs at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Gregor proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was very involved in his community. He was the owner and operator of Kewaskum Frozen Foods from 1946-1979. He was a 20-year member of the Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors serving on the board and six years as president. He served as a Kewaskum village trustee for eight years and was a member of the Kewaskum Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 and the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. In 2002, he was recognized as Washington County’s most admired senior citizen for his contributions to his community. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him. Survivors included his loving wife of 60 years, Anna; two children, Gregor E. (Leslie) Nigh of Sun Prairie and Patricia (Gerald) of the town of Auburn; five brothers, David (Barbara) Nigh of St. Cloud, Florida, Vincent "Babe" (Elvira) Nigh of Kewaskum, Alban "Mousie" (Dorothy) Nigh and Jerome (Beverly) Nigh both of the town of Auburn and Leo (Esther) Nigh of Plymouth; four sisters, Margaret Blanke of Plymouth, Marion (Jerry) Darmody of Allenton, Agnes (Virgil) Bird and Barbara (Dale) Timmler both of West Bend; eight grandchildren, Robert (Kim) Beisbier, Rene (Bill) Brooks, Robin Ader, Douglas (Katie) Geidel, Christopher (Christina) Geidel, Jeremy (Joanne) Geidel, David Nigh and Rebecca Nigh; 11 great-grandchildren, Jason and Lauren Ader, William, Timothy and Matthew Brooks, Zachary, Madeline, Eli and Ella Geidel, Allison and Joseph Beisbier; and a sister-in-law, Laura Nigh of West Bend. Gregor was preceded in death by two daughters, Susann Beisbier and Mary Ellen Behring; two infant grandchildren, James and Tricia Behring; a great-grandson, Justin Beisbier; a brother, Lawrence Nigh; a brother-in-law, Willard Blanke; and an infant sister. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath and Father Mark Jones concelebrated and military rites were performed following Mass. Cremation took place with burial of the cremains in Holy Trinity Catholic Church Cemetery. Relatives and friends called on Tuesday at the church.

Robert P. Ellis Sr.

M, b. 10 February 1921, d. 28 May 2011
      Robert P. Ellis Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years on 28 May 2011. Robert was born on 10 February 1921 being raised in Michigan, USA. After attending both high school and college in Kalamazoo, Bob served as a 1st lieutenant in the 88th Army Division, 351st Infantry, and was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star while serving his country in Italy during World War II. In 1952, Bob married his sweetheart, Evelyn Stamm, and with her raised four children, Joy (Robert), Robert (Laura) Ellis, Bruce (Shelli) Ellis, and Tom (Carrie) Ellis. Through his career in sales, Bob was promoted and transferred from Michigan to Illinois, then to Missouri, and finally to Wisconsin in 1971, and resided in Mequon for the last 34 years. After retirement, Bob and Evelyn loved to travel to see old friends and always met many new ones along the way. They were able to travel to 13 different countries, taking cruises, train and bus trips. Although they liked to travel, nothing pleased them more than to have family and friends stop at the house to chat over coffee, or to spend time with them out for dinner or at a ball game. When they weren’t traveling, Bob enjoyed working in his yard and was often found sitting in the shade admiring what he had just accomplished. Every birthday and holiday at the Ellis house was celebrated together as a family and always filled with laughter. Bob was an active member at Mequon United Methodist Church serving on many committees in different capacities, singing in the choir and giving freely of his time. For those who had the opportunity to know Bob personally, they knew he was a caring and committed person who was always there to help. They knew that he loved his family, and was there to support and guide them all, from the very moment of all their births until the time of his death. Even now beyond his death, he still will continue to guide the family, including the 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren in many ways. We miss you, Dad, but you’ll always be in our hearts. Visitation was held on Monday, 06 June 2011 at Mequon United Methodist Church, 11011 North Oriole Lane, Mequon, Ozaukee County followed by a short memorial service.

CMSgt. Robert P. Melby

      CMSgt. Robert P. Melby, United States Air Force retired, of Sedalia, Missouri, USA, passed away at his home at the age of 80 years on Wednesday, 01 June 2011. Robert was born 12 March 1931, in Westby, Vernon County, Wisconsin, son of Olaf Sylvester and Ida (Solberg) Melby. On 17 February 1973, in Gurnee, Ilinois, he married Naida B. Oliver, who survives him. Robert was retired from the United States Air Force after 33 years of honorable service, earning the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a flight engineer on the C-141 Starlifter during Vietnam. Robert was later superintendent of reserve recruiting in Northern California. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Sedalia Lodge 236 AF & AM. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. Robert was an avid musician, singing and playing keyboard and bass guitar. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast but his greatest joy came from being surrounded by his many grandchildren. In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Kristine (John) of Snellville, Georgia, Patricia Whitlock of Baton Rouge, Lousiana., Cynthia Marx of Loganville, Georgia, and Ruth Melby, of Baton Rouge, Lousiana; a son, Pete (Sherry) Melby of Sedalia; two stepchildren, Patrick (Sheryl) Murphy of Lake Lucerne, Calif., and Colleen (Tom) Murphy of Hercules, Calif; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Rosenthal (Ralph) of Fond du Lac; two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Marie Melby; a son-in-law, Charles Marx; and his parents. Masonic services were held on Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. Military rites were conducted by the United Sates Air Force. Burial was in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Jackson, Washingtin County, Wisconsin. The family received friends on Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home.

William Sharpee

M, b. 14 April 1919, d. 03 June 2011
      William Sharpee, also known as Bill, passed away at the age of 92 years on Friday, 03 June 2011. Bill was born on 14 April 1919 in the Town of Hampden, Columbia County, Wisconsin, USA, son of Endre and Clara (Mickelson) Sharpee. He proudly served his country during WWII from 1942-45 in the United States Army Air Corps. He was stationed in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy where his B-24 bomber group focused mainly on the Nazi oil fields in Turkey. Because of their efforts, his unit earned nine battle stars. He married Arlene Hess on 24 November 1943 in Newport News, Virginia while on military leave. After the war, Bill left the University of Wisconsin-Madison after one year and with family obligations, he opened a NAPA parts store with a partner in Madison. In 1964, he sold his interest in the business, moved his family to West Bend and began West Bend Automotive Supply Company where he acquired his nickname “Bill on the Hill.” During his successful career as a businessman, he and his sons opened four additional locations in Washington and Ozaukee counties. In 1982, Bill retired and sold the business to his sons, Jerry and Daryl. He bought a motor home and, with wife Arlene, traveled extensively. He spent winters in the Valley of the Sun and spent summers on Lake DuBay “exploring” the art of walleye fishing and telling Norwegian jokes. When Arlene passed away on 02 August 1992, he devoted himself to spending more time with his family including a heritage tour of Norway. He was a devoted family man and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Bill was a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club and the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36. He was also past president of the Wisconsin Automotive Wholesalers Association. Bill is survived by his children Gerald (Bonita) Sharpee of Wake Forest, N.C., Daryl Sharpee of West Bend, Linda Punzenberger of West Bend, Donna (Richard) of Corvallis, Oregon, and Janet (Dean) of West Bend; grandchildren Brian (Tatyana) Sharpee, Jason (Katherine) Sharpee, Lisa (Charlie) Hottinger, Richard Punzenberger; Michael (fiancée Vicki) Punzenberger, Ryan (Jill) Punzenberger, Jackie (Adam) Lemmer, Daniel Hatland, Jennifer (Luke) Reseburg, and Nina Schmitz. He is further survived by his great-grandchildren Robert and Celine Sharpee, Anna Sharpee, and Eva Lemmer; sister Gladys Vine; sisters-in-law Ruth Sharpee and Mary Sharpee; and brother-in-law Phillip Muntz. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Arlene; grandson Paul Sharpee; parents Endre and Clara; older brothers Palmer and Olin Sharpee; younger brother Louis Sharpee; sister Clarice Muntz; and two sisters, both named Amelia Sharpee. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, 08 June 2011 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend, where the Reverend Jerry Presuhn presided. Gathering was held at the funeral home on Wednesday, 08 June 2011. Interment followed at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
