Steven Anthony Hesprich

      Steven Anthony Hesprich of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away unextectedly at the age of 61 years on Thursday, 02 June 2011 at his residence. Steven was born 25 January 1950 in Hartford, son of Vincent and Harriet (Gornjak) Hesprich. He was united in marriage to Georgia Berg on 01 June 1974 at St Peter Church in Beaver Dam. Steven was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was stationed in Thailand as an MP in the United States Army. He worked at Broan Manufacturing for over 40 years. Steven was an avid sports enthusiast and he entertained many with his accomplishments on the high-dive as a young man. His sharp witted humor will be missed. He was survived by his wife Georgia of Hartford; two daughters Stephanie (Ben) of Hartford and Ashley Hesprich of Richmond, Virginia; his cherished granddaughter Norah; his brothers and sister Michael (Carol) Hesprich, Lyanne (James) Collins and John Hesprich all of Hartford; brother in-law Tim Berg of Beaver Dam and his sister in-law Donna Berg of Hartford; his mother in-law Myrtle Berg of Hartford. Steven was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, 08 June 2011 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. The family greeted relatives and friends on Tuesday, 07 June at St. Kilian Church. Additional visitation was on Wednesday. Interment took place St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery on Wednesday 08 June 2011.

Herman Baumann Jr.

M, b. 13 October 1923, d. 02 June 2011
      Herman Baumann Jr. of Big Cedar Lake, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at ther age of 87 years on Thursday, 02 June 2011. Herman was born on 13 October 1923, in Trucksville, Pennsylvania. son of Herman Baumann Sr. and Anna (Wendel). His family moved to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania when he was in the eighth grade. Herman was graduated from the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) High School in 1941. After high school graduation, Herman was an electrician apprentice at the Vulcan Iron Works War Plant working on electric turrets. In 1943, Herman enlisted in the United States Navy Air Force. During World War II, he proudly served as an Aviation Electrician's Mate Second Class USNR and was honorably discharged in 1946. After his return from the Navy, Herman began school at Bucknell Junior College studying electrical engineering. He did further study at Penn State in Industrial Electrical Engineering. Herman moved to New Jersey where he finished his college work and earned a bachelor of science degree from Rutger’s University. He worked for Curtis Wright in its propeller division for many years. Herman was a people person and decided he wanted to try sales. He then went to work for the Elastic Stop Nut Corp. of America (ESNA). He was an internal sales engineer before becoming a regional salesman. He loved every minute of it: traveling, solving technical problems, and meeting new and interesting people. He worked for ESNA until his retirement. Herman was a "Renaissance Man." His interests were varied and many. He and his wife, Miriam, traveled to 45 countries, visiting every continent except Antarctica. He collected tiny rocks from every place he visited. Over the years he supported many charities, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He loved his Green Bay Packers and attended at least one Badger game every year. Most of all, he adored great music, music ranging from Sousa marches to symphonies and he loved to sing. His rich, deep bass voice was heard in St. James Episcopal Church Choir for 44 years! He also sang with the Hartford Community Chorus." Herman was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Whenever he saw a need, he rushed in to help. He was an avid collector of his granddaughters' art work, many are still hanging on his walls. Herman was a demonstrative man. He told Miriam he loved her every night, and that he always appreciated everything she did for him. Herman had a generous heart and a loving soul. He also was quite the jokester and loved a good Scotch. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Miriam (Golightly) Baumann, his son, Herman III (Kay Schwichtenberg-Baumann) Baumann of Inverness, Illinois., his daughter, Heidi (Robert Schuppel) Baumann-Schuppel of Slinger, and two grandchildren, Susan (Brian Paul) Schuppel-Paul, of Wauwatosa and Sandra Schuppel (close friend, Audie Ritschke) of Waukesha. Herman was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Anne Bossert, Elise Smith, Helen Fisher and his brother Frederick Baumann. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, 18 June in St. James Episcopal Church, 148 South 8th Avenue, West Bend. Father Kenny Miller presided. Visitation was at the church. Burial with military honors followed at St. James columbarium.

Clarence B. Grasse

M, b. 18 November 1929, d. 23 May 2011
      Clarence B. Grasse, also known as Shorty, peacefully entered into eternal life at the age of 81 years on Monday, 23 May 2011 in Mesa, Arizona, USA. Clarence was born on 18 November 1929 in Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, son of Clarence E. Grasse and Loretta Esselmann. He married Margaret Schwartz on 17 February 1951 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Clarence served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Cedarburg Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288. He worked for the Ozaukee County Highway Department for more than 40 years. Clarence also served as a 4-H leader in gardening and older youth for more than 25 years. He loved his vegetable garden and planting numerous types of flowers, and he also loved auto racing and football. Although he and Marge became full-time residents of Mesa, Arizona for the past nine years, he never lost his love for the Green Bay Packers. A funeral service was held on 07 June 7 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, W61 N498 Washington Avenuew in Cedarburg. Interment took place at Immanuel Cemetery. The family received friends on 07 June 2011 at the church. The Reverend Kristine Ertl officiated the funeral service. Clarence was survived by his beloved wife, Marge Grasse; sons, Ken (Rachel) Grasse and Kurt (Linda) Grasse; granddaughters, Katherine Grasse and Abby Gibowski; and sister, Evelyn (Arlin) Walsh. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Arthur and Viola Schwartz; daughter, Kaye Gibowski; and son-in-law, Thomas Gibowski.

Emmett J. Burg

      Emmett J. Burg, 84, of Hartford, passed away at the age of 84 years on Friday, 20 May 2011 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond Du Lac, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, USA. Emmett was born on 17 October 1926 in the township of Erin, Washington County, son of Phillip and Anna Burg. He graduated from Hartford Union High School class of 1944. Emmett served his country as midshipman in the Merchant Marines and Navy (Seabees) as a cook and electrician’s mate from 1945 to 1946 receiving a Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. He married Rosemary Boos on 22 August 1953 in Erin. Emmett was a self-employed egg farmer and also worked for Husco Manufacturing, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church in Monches, Waukesha County. His hobbies included raising cattle, donkeys, tinkering with cars, and most of all spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for baseball and softball, attending hundreds of his kids’ and grandkids’ games through the years, especially as a Rubicon Red Sox fan. He loved all things Irish, especially St. Patrick’s Day and Irish music. He was survived by his wife, Rosemary of Hartford; seven sons, Tim (Dianne) of Erin, Ron (LiAnn) of Hartford, Jerry (Kathy) of Menomonee Falls, Dennis of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bruce (Luanne) of Colgate, Shawn (Kris) of Slinger, David (Tanya) of Rubicon; daughters, Diane (Patrick) of Fond du Lac, Linda (Mike) of Slinger, Roseanne (Bruce) of Crivitz; grandchildren, Joe and Haley Sylvester, Marcus, Michael, Mitchel, and Mason Mergener, Jessica, Amy, & Jimmy Burg, Erica, Clayton, and Chantel Burg, Tyler and Calvin Burg, Abigail, Joshua, and Hannah Burg, Ryan, Allison, and Austin Burg, Amanda and Ashley Burg, Brock, Briel, Brenna Rose, and Braycen Burg. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Loreen and Carol Anne, and an infant son, Gerard. Services were held and Emmett was buried at St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Robert R. Marx

      Robert R. Marx of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at his home at the age of 74 years on Monday, 06 June 2011. Robert was born on 16 July 1936 in Milwaukee, son of Raymond and Verene (Fellenz) Marx. The family was raised in the Bayview area of Milwaukee. He attended St. Augustine Grade School and went on to graduate from Marquette High School. He then went to St. Norbert College and earned his bachelor's degree. Bob enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, was called to active service and stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington; served with the 32nd Infantry Division. Following his discharge, he settled in Washington State. Robert became employed as an engineer with Boeing, and also worked in the banking industry. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing the game with a group of friends that he met at college. He also would get together with family and watch football and baseball. In addition to his kind and humble spirit, Bob was a generous man. He contributed to children's causes throughout the world. He was survived by two children Daryl and Dayne, both of Washington State; two grandchildren Brittney and Michael; two brothers Michael M. (Gail) of West Bend and Richard E. (Katherine) of San Diego; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Sybil Orlander. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, 11 June at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, West Bend with burial following in Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation was at the church on Saturday.

Gary Kurszewski

      Gary Kurszewski of Merrill, entered Eternal Life at the age 0f 53 years on 11 June 2011. Loving father of Jennifer, Melissa and Steven. Cherished son of Ernest and Loretta. Beloved brother of Tom (Li-Kuan) and Linda (Douglas) Hoelz. Dear significant other of Karen. Preceded in death by sister, Brenda. Loving and jokester uncle to Tanya, Anna, Alison, Jessica, Amanda and Rob. Further survived by eight great-nieces and nephews. Gary was a Marine Corps veteran. He was also an employee of the US Post Office, working at the Milwaukee branch before transferring to Wausau. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing and we can't forget about his Polka dancing. He loved dancing with his partner, Karen, competed in contests and subsequently won many awards. One of Gary's most endearing qualities was his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. He will be truly missed. Visitation was held Wednesday, 15 June at the Schramka Funeral Home, Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St Anthony Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls on Thursday, 16 June. "Gary, remember to save a dance for Karen."

Roger F. Schroeder

      Roger F. Schroeder was born in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, on 03 December 1919 in the village of Barton. Roger died 91 years later on Thursday, 09 June 2011 at Samaritan Health Care Center.
He was the son of George and Theckla (Reuter) Schroeder. Roger married Florence Conliff in 1941, at St. Mary Catholic Church in the village of Barton. Roger lived in Barton (West Bend) all his life until the time of his death except from 1942 to 1945 when served in the United States Army during WW II in the European Theater. He was a life member of the West Bend Fred A. Schaefer Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 1393. After the war, Roger worked in Milwaukee for a few years, then he worked for Line Material (Bermeco) until the time of his retirement. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoes, and when he was 69-years-old, he took up golf, which he enjoyed for many years. He is survived by his son, Irv (Theresa “Terri”) Schroeder; granddaughter, Brenda (Shaun), great-grandchildren, Christopher and Mystic; and one sister-in-law, Gwyn (Bill) Barber. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Florence in 1982, and a sister, Genevieve “Gen” May. A memorial Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, 14 June at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Barton, 406 Jefferson Street where the Reverend Jerome Repenshek presided. Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 14. Interment took place at the new St. Mary Cemetery.

La Vern Severson

      LaVern “Lee” Severson, also known as Lee, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 years on Wednesday, 20 April 2011 with his family by his side after a courageous 32-year battle with heart disease. Lee was born on 08 October 1935 in Seymour, son of Clifford and Esther (Reis) Severson. When Lee was very young, the family moved to Mayfield where he attended grade school. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1954. Lee proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He spent most of his duty in Okinawa, Japan. Lee felt great honor to have marched with his fellow Marines in the inaugural parade for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. In 1959, Lee met the love of his life, Judy Lutz. They were married on 06 February 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend. Together they raised three wonderful children. On 02 December 1979, Lee’s life would change forever when he suffered his first heart attack at the age of 44. A second heart attack would follow along with three open-heart surgeries and many other related procedures over the years. He always maintained a positive attitude. His deep faith and loving family would see him through the many struggles with his disease. Lee loved to golf and garden. Many of his friends and family will miss the beautiful vegetables he would share with them. He also enjoyed walking daily with his friends. Lee was a talented carpenter and loved to build furniture for his family. He also enjoyed watching his beloved Green Bay Packers. His favorite pastime, however, was attending the many different activities of his grandchildren, including baseball and basketball games, golf, violin, guitar, and dance. Lee retired from the West Bend School District, which employed him for over thirty years. He loved his job and he made many lifelong friends. He also worked for Johnson Bus for many years. Lee was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend, and the Jackson S/Sgt. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 486. Lee was survived by his loving wife, Judy, his son, Jeffrey of West Bend, daughters Kelly (Steve) of Green Bay, and Shelly (Andrew) of Kewaskum. He was also survived by four very special grandchildren, Justin (Sarah) Gustafson of Fitchburg, Jesse Gustafson of Madison, Paul Hoenecke of Kewaskum, and Kathryn Gustafson of Green Bay. He was also loved by many relatives and friends, including a brother-in-law, Fred Lutz, of Highland, and sister-in law, Nadine (Raymond) Schilter of West Bend, and a brother-in-law, Al Hartwig of Jackson. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mable Hartwig and Shirley Waechter, and a brother, Willard Severson. A Funeral Service for Lee was held on Monday, 25 April 2011 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive in West Bend where Reverend David Schoob presided. Visitation was at the funeral home on Monday, April 25, 2011 with a military walk-thru. Entombment took place on Tuesday, 26 April 26 at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. “Lee was a loving, loyal, and dedicated husband to Judy, his wife of 51 years. Together they loved, nurtured, and educated their three children, who loved him beyond measure. He inspired faith, love, hope, and determination to succeed. Through good times and bad, his heart and his home were always open to his family and friends. His good nature and humor brightened even the darkest of times. He was forgiving, knew right from wrong, and always acted on them. Lee was a compassionate and caring man, who gave of himself and never asked for anything in return. His wife, children, and grandchildren will always love and miss him dearly. We love you, Dad. Goodbye.”.

Owen J. Clark

      Owen J. Clark of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away surrounded by his famiy at the age of 88 years on Tuesday, 21 June 2011 at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center. Owen was born on 01 April 1923 in Manitowoc, Manitowoc County, son of William and Evangeline (Kazilek) Clark. He attended St. Boniface Catholic Elementary School in Manitowoc. Owen graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in the class of 1940. He went on to attend Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri, and the University of Wisconsin - Madison Campus. He served his country honorably, training as a pilot in the United States Navy during World War II. On 21 October 1949, Owen was united in marriage to Ruth Jane Babcock in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Over the years, Owen and Ruth made their home in Manitowoc, Whitewater, Fort Atkinson, Ephrata, Pennsylvania, and finally in West Bend. Owen worked in Insurance Sales, for the Mallard Coach Corporation, was the owner of Changing Seasons Sporting Goods Store and a realtor with Shorewest Realtors. He was a member of Holy Angels Parish, the Veterans of Foreigh Wars and American Legion. Owen enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, golfing, camping, the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers, the outdoors, traveling and spending time with his family. At Cedar Campus, he enjoyed playing the drums and chimes, bingo, walks in the courtyard and Dandelion Patch Park and being in the sunroom. Owen was a wonderful husband and father whose love has always been unconditional. He taught his children by example: character, honesty, respect, service, positive attitude and love. His greatest treasures were his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Owen was a man who always had a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye and a joke to tell. He touched the lives of the many people he met. Owen was a regular blood donor. He and his wife volunteered for 11 years for the Milwaukee Achiever Program, teaching English as a second language. He was loved dearly and will be missed always by his family.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Clark of West Bend; his four children, Patti (Bob) of Cape Coral, Florida, Linda (Roger) of West Bend, Jon (Laura Rank) Clark of Campbellsport, and Lisa (Roy) of Kewaskum; six grandchildren, Celina (Mike), Laura (Mike), Mike (Stacey) Liebetrau, Kate Peters, Kevin (Lisa) Hankerson and Keith (Peggy) Hankerson; soon-to-be 12 great-grandchildren, Brady, Brooke and Brenna Hayes, Aviana Peters, Megan (Chuck) Meyer, Lauren Hankerson, Jessica (Mike) Jante, Ryan Hankerson, Janelle (Eric) Hillman, Annette (Brion) Kendzora, Kasey Hankerson and a new addition due in December; four great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Addicus Jante and Isabella and Lucca; sister, Barbara Claffey of West Bend; sister in-law, Dorothy Clark of Florida and Carol Scott of Florence; three brothers-in-law, Rowl (Mary) Babcock of Michigan, Richard (Pat) Babcock of Washington and Earl (Lolita) Lynch of Arizona; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Genevieve (Jack) Berschens and Monica (Robert) Beyer; brother, William Clark; brothers-in-law, Robert Babcock, Ralph Babcock and Carl Lynch; and nephews, Robin Beyer and Jack Berschens. Funeral services in remembrance of Owen were held on Friday, 24 June at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 West Washington Street, West Bend. The Reverend Jerry Brittain of Holy Angels Catholic Church presidied. Visitation was on Friday at the funeral home. Entombment followed on Saturday in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

George Shiras

      George Shiras, retired public-relations executive and longtime resident of Shorewood, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away quietly at the age of 86 years on 17 June 2011 at the Lighthouse in Mequon, Ozaukee County. Husband of Ruth Dennis Shiras and father of Robin (Ed) Shiras-Cody, St. Louis, Missouri, Tracy (Scott Justice) Shiras, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Leif (Maria) Shiras, Laguna Hills, California. Grandfather to Kevin Dowlen, Austin, Texas, Emmett and Austin Shiras, Laguna Hills, California. He was also step-grandfather to Joe, Katie and Caroline Cody. Father-in-law to Ed Cody, Maria McDonough Shiras and Scott Justus. Son of George Bartram and Grace Moore Shiras of Pelham Manor, New York, and brother to Elizabeth (Betty) Macomber. George was born on 16 December 1924 in New Rochelle, New York. He was an accomplished athlete at Pelham Memorial High School in track, swimming and football. He attended Princeton University, Class of 1946, and was member of Phi Beta Kappa, captain of the 150 pound football team and a member of the Cottage Club. Military service in World War II interrupted Princeton. In 1942, after basic training, George was assigned to France as a medical technician. He worked in medical tents near the front and drove an ambulance. He later boarded a troopship in Nice for transfer to the Pacific Theater. At sea, news came that hostilities had ended so he was returned to Fort Hill in New Jersey. He later returned to Princeton to complete his education and graduated in 1948. His senior thesis at Princeton, "Women in Crisis", earned him an A+ and helped secure his first position in market research and public relations in New York. He later took employment with Life magazine in the Chicago bureau where he met coworker, Ruth Dennis. They married on 21 March 1952 in Pelham Manor and settled in Rowayton, Connecticut. George took a position with Barkin Herman and Associates, a public relations firm in Milwaukee in 1963. His work included the original Milwaukee Circus Parade and the Lakefront Festival of the Arts. A longtime squash and tennis player, George won the squash singles championship at the University Club in consecutive years. He played tennis during summers at the Lakeshore Club. He passed along this love of sport and competition, plus a deep respect for scholarship, and a warm sense of family to his children and his extended family. Family greeted friends on Thursday, 30 June at the Feerick Funeral Home followed by a memorial service with military honors. Interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery was private for the family.

Edward was born on 29 September 1930 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of Anthony Schneider Sr. and Catherine (Przybylinski) Sailer. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Edward was a member of the West Bend Fred A. Schaefer Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 1393. He worked as a mill rite for Continental Can in Milwaukee and for Sundance Photo. Edward was survived by two sisters, Delores (Paul) Ferri of Milwaukee and Darlene Sailer of Milwaukee; one brother, Michael Sailer of Milwaukee; dear friends, Gary Moore, Tom and Raquel Sinnen, Brian Schmitz, Kym and Mark Harmelink, Millie Fitz and Brian Couwels, and many, many dear friends from Pick n Save, Silver Lake Country Inn and Round the Clock Restaurant. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Anthony Schneider Jr. A gathering to celebrate Edward's life and to share stories and memories was held on Sunday, 26 June at Silver Lake Country Inn. Inurnment followed at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.

Marvin L. Fenner

      Funeral services will be held today, 28 June 2011 at Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory, W63 N527 Hanover Avenue, Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Marvin L. Fenner of Mercer, formerly of Cedarburg who joined his wife, Ruth, on Thursday June 23, 2011. He was 83 years old. Visitation was at the funeral home. Interment was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery. Marvin was born in Milwaukee on 27 November 1927, son of William and Louise (Hunger) Fenner. He was a 1946 graduate from Rufus King High School and he enlisted into the United States Army Air Corps right after high school. Marvin married Ruth Marie Starwick on 23 August 1952 and they were blessed with three children. He enjoyed all outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and camping. He also was a Boy Scout leader in Cedarburg for many years and part of the Rotary. Marvin’s family was the most important part of his life, along with his dog, Molly. Marvin was survived by his children, Pat (Dave) and Cathy; daughter-in-law, Becky; grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Adam Fenner, Evan (Kristen) Fenner, Ethan (Jade) Fenner, Ben Langton and Tim Langton; great-grandchildren, Kiley and Achlynn Fenner; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; and his son, Tom Fenner.

Edward Klinger

      Edward Klinger, also known as Ed, of Manitowish Waters, Vilas County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away on Thursday, 23 June 2011, one day prior to his 61st wedding anniversary to Carol. Edward was born in Mosinee on 17 July 1927, son of John and Anna (Franz) Klinger. At 17 he joined the United States Navy. After returning from service, he earned a bachelor degree from Central State Teachers College (now University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Campus). He taught math in Unity, Edgar and for 34 years in West Bend. Edward was a lifetime member of the NEA and WEA and received a master degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison Campus. He retired in 1988 and moved to Manitowish Waters where he was a volunteer at the library, food pantry and an election official. He was also a member of the American Legion and active in the church. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank, Lawrence and Sigmund and sister, Josephine. He was survived by his wife, Carol, sons: William (Sheila), Dean (Mary), Brian (Sylvia) and John (Kelly) and nine grandchildren. He was further survived by sisters Elizabeth and Bernice and brother Bernard, sister-in-laws, Joan Vande Zande and Jean Teska, nieces, nephews and friends. Edward loved watching his children and grandchildren in their sports. He enjoyed fishing, bridge, and traveling. Funeral services were held on Saturday, 02 July at the Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Minocqua with visitation prior ot service.

Duane G. Manthei

      Duane G. Manthei unexpectedly passed away at the age of 58 years on Saturday, 09 July 2011. Best friend and life partner of Sandy Jabes for 34 years. Dear brother of Diane Manthei and Dean (Nila) Manthei. Loving uncle of Angela and Ashley Manthei. Dear son of the late Donald Manthei and the late Donna (Jack) Vervloet. Dear brother-in-law of Carol Taylor. Duane was survived by and will be greatly missed by his dear friends, Tom and Sarah Ramlow, grandchildren; Anne, Douglas and Charles. Duane grew up in Milwaukee. He graduated from Custer High School, earned an Associate Degree from MATC and a Bachelor of Science Degree from UW-Stout. Duane was a United States Air Force veteran. Resident of Thiensville for the past 30 years. He married Sandy in 1977 and began his career in photography in 1978. Duane was a photography instructor at MATC for more than 18 years and a professional photographer for Boston Store and freelance photographer for many years. Visitation was at the funeral home on Saturday, 16 July 16 followed by a celebration of Duane's life.

Rexford Sackett Wegener

      Rexford Wegener entered into rest at the age of 87 years on Tuesday, 24 May 2011. Mr. Rexford Sackett Wegener was the husband of Beverly Joyce Wegener. Mr. Wegener was born and raised in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. He joined the United States Army as an amphibious engineer during World War II. He started at Evinrude Motors as a machinist then became a liason engineer. Mr. Wegener retired after 33 years at Evinrude Motors. He opened Mr. W'S Lowrey Piano and Organ Store in Columbia, SC and Augusta. Mr. Wegener then joined Risdon and O'Sullivan as operations manager. He retired in Augusta and became the president of the Hidden Lake Town Home Owners Association for 8 years. He was a member of the Germantown, Wisconsin American Legion Post 1 for 65 years. Mr. Wegener loved to spend time with his family. Family members in addition to his wife include, daughters: Diana and Judy, son Rex M. Wegener (Patience), grandchildren: Regan, Penny, Michael, Angela, Emily, Jacob, great-grandchildren: Amanda, Hannah, Ansley, Emma, Alexandria, niece: Christine Franken, and many friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, 28 May 2011 at 5:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son were Reverend Roger Stone officiated.       Ronald A. Crawford of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA died at the age of 81 years on Wednesday, 18 May 2011. Ronald was born on 09 January 1930. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Jane G. Loving father of Ronnie Bunda, Jacky Crawford, and Carolyn J. (John V.) Kitzke. Proud grandpa of Nick (Cherie) Wolfgram, Sandy (Shawn) Wolfgram, Jim (Amber) Bunda, and Melanie (Mirco) Bunda. Adored great-grandpa of Gwendolyn and Jonathon Wolfgram. Further survived by one sister, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service Saturday, were held on Saturday, 21 May 2011, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg. Memorial Service were celebrated on Thursday, 12 May 2011 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church (10729 West Freistadt Road), Mequon. Charles Kenneth Blank

      Charles Kenneth Blank, also known as Chuck, formerly of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 years at his home on July 2, 2011, in Fountain Hills, Arizona where he moved in 1999. Charles was born on 13 July 1931. He is survived by his wife Betty (nee Guerin), son David (Donna) Blank of West Des Moines, Iowa, and their children Tommy and Alex. He is further survived by his stepchildren, Sherry (Mark) D... of Ft. Worth and their children Sarah and Jay; Jim (Lynne) O’Reilly of Minneapolis and their children, Elizabeth, Ali and Teddy; and Tom O'Reilly of Mequon.

Chuck was a graduate of Cedarburg High School and received an accounting degree from the University of Wisconsin. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he returned to Cedarburg to begin his career at Cedarburg, Mutual Insurance. Chuck retired from CMI in 1998 as chief operating officer, COO. Chuck was an active supporter of the Cedarburg community. He was Charter Secretary of the Cedarburg/Grafton Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the board of the Cedarburg State Bank, and was also an active supporter of the Cultural Center and Cedarburg Landmark Preservation Society. Chuck was an avid Lake Michigan sailor. He began racing boats in the Lightning class at the Milwaukee Yacht Club and was one of the founding members of the Soling Fleet. He was Past Commodore of the MYC (‘75-‘76) and was named the Merritt Hayes Yachtsman of the Year in 1990, which honors the “true Corinthian who exemplifies dignity, humility, integrity and sportsmanship.” Chuck also enjoyed skiing and was a member of Heiliger Huegel Ski Club, and a director in 1975 . He was one of the first to have “buckle boots” and Head metal skis.

Chuck found great peace in the Lord in his battle with cancer, and entered into His arms with the knowledge that he will be with all of us again in Paradise. Visitation, service, and a light luncheon immediately following was on Thursday, 07 July at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fountain Hills. A gathering to remember and celebrate Chuck’s life was held in Cedarburg later that yearl.

Eugene Kester

      Eugene Kester, also known as Gene, of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 83 years at his residence on 04 July 2011. Eugene was born on 12 April 1928, in Antigo, Langlade County, son of Kenneth and Elizabeth (Schroepfer) Kester. Eugene served in the United States Navy during World War II. In 1957, he began his career at EST Company in Grafton, rising to president and general manager in 1982, and retiring in 1996. On 08 June 1983, he married Sandra Drzewiecki.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; children Linda Kester of Fond du Lac and James (Renee) Kester of Rockford, Michigan; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (Rita) Kester of Watertown and Donald (Barbara) Kester of Sussex; his sister, Elizabeth Fausek of West Allis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Dolores; son, Richard; daughter, Eugenie; and two brothers, Ralph and Richard. Visitation was held on Friday, 08 July at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg, with a service at 6 p.m. Private entombment took place at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, Waukesha County.

Thomas Patrick Ruetten

      Thomas Patrick Ruetten, also known as Tom, passed away at the age of 88 years on Thursday, 07 July 2011 surrounded by family. Tom was born on 18 May 1923, in Ithaca, Richland County, Wisconsin, USA, the son of Hubert and Mary (Connor) Ruetten. He served in the United States Army in WWII for three years. He married Marion Riesmeyer of Slinger on 15 February 1947 and started a family. He retired in 1986 after 23 years as the superintendent of buildings and grounds for the Slinger School District. After his retirement, he and his beloved wife wintered for many years in Arizona while spending the summer months at their home away from home in Horicon, Dodge County. A beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is survived by his son Thomas (Cyndi), daughter Sharon (Mark) N... and son Charles (Janice), two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one brother, three sisters, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion, son Richard, grandson Eric Ruetten, five brothers, two sisters, other relatives and friends.

A military walk-through took place during the visitation on Monday, 11 July at the funeral home. Tom was a charter paid for life 66-year member of the Jackson S/Sgt. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 486, and 42-year member of the Slingerr Veterans of Foreign Wars Zunker-Held Post 3358. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, 12 July 2011 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 200 East Washington Street in Slinger where Father Rick Stoffel presided. Visitation was on Monday, 11 July 2011 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive in West Bend, with a Prayer Vigil in the evening. Additional visitation was on Tuesday, 12 July at St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment followed at Old St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.

Merle G. Knox

      Merle G. Knox, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the ae of 89 years on Sunday, 03 July 2011, at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in the town of West Bend, joining his beloved wife Ruth. Merle was born on 17 November 1921, in South Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of Glenn and Myrtl (Megow) Knox. In school, Merle was a track and cross country star. He set records at South Milwaukee High School, University of Wisconsin-Madison and San Jose State University. Merle served his country honorably during in World War II in the United States Marine Corps from 1944 to 1946. In 1948, he obtained his teaching degree at San Jose State University. Merle again served his country honorably as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. On 01 July 1957, he was united in marriage to Ruth Rosnow in Milwaukee. Later that year, Merle became a teacher and coach in the Oak Creek School System. In 1963, he earned a master in education from Marquette University. Merle retired from the Naval Reserve in 1968. He was an active competitor in the Masters Track and Field Club, competing in the senior division for many years. He was a dedicated Boy Scout leader of Troop 106 for 31 years and was awarded the "Silver Beaver Award" by the Boy Scout Council for his dedication and many years of leadership. Merle was a member of the Cudworth American Legion Post 0406 in Milwaukee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, where he served on the lodge council chapter consistory, and Tripoli Shrine. He was a former member of the Kenwood United Methodist Church in Milwaukee, Zion United Methodist Church in Colgate and Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend. As a musician, Merle played the flute and piccolo. He was a member of the Tripoli Shrine band, Cudworth Post American Legion Band and West Bend River City Irregulars.

Merle and Ruth traveled throughout the world where they served working missions for the United Methodist Church. They also served several working missions at home as well as volunteered for the Children of the Rock after school program and helped in summer programs at Pine Lake Lutheran Summer Camp. Merle enjoyed playing cribbage, camping, canoeing, fishing, gardening and being involved in the music programs at Cedar Communities. He will be missed by his loved ones.

He is survived by his son, Walter (Harriet) Knox of Hawaii; daughter, Chere (Rodney) I... of Nevada; stepsons, John (Margery) Wahlen of Mayville and James (Sharon) Wahlen of Hubertus; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. Howard Knox of West Bend; many nieces and nephews; and best friends, Charles and Janis Hayden of Fredonia. Merle was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; sisters, Eleanor Knox and Marion (Casey) Marifke; a brother, Clyde (Ilene) Knox; and a sister-inlaw, Pearl Knox. A memorial service in remembrance of Merle was held on Thursday, 28 July at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 323 South 5th Avenue, West Bend. The Reverend Jeremy Deaner officiated. Burial was in Zion Church Cemetery in Colgate. Visitation was at the church.

Donald E. Sabin

      Donald E. Sabin of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 71 years on Tuesday, 12 July 12 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on 07 July 1940, in Blue Rapids, Marshall County, Kansas, son of John and Cecelia (Dugan) Sabin. He attended high school in Fairbury, Nebraska and graduated there in 1958. Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. In the summer of 1959, Don met the love of his life, Penny Kjergaard, while life guarding at the pool in Lincoln Air Force Base in Nebraska. Three years later, on 18 June 1962, they were united in marriage in Clay Center, Kansas. After serving in the Air Force, he studied marketing at the University of Nebraska and later began a long career working for AC Nielson doing market research. Over the years, his career led his family to live in various places including Houston, Texas and Milwaukee, before moving to West Bend after enjoying years of camping in the Kettle Moraine. In his free time, Donald enjoyed golfing, traveling, camping, gardening, coin collecting, reading and researching his family genealogy with his wife. He was a family man and he loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially loved to take his grandchildren fishing and always enjoyed attending all of their school programs and sporting events.

Donald was survived by his wife, Penny; his three children, Janice and her husband Juan M... of Menomonee Falls, Scott and his wife Peggy Sabin of Slinger, and Lisa Sabin-Wilson and her husband Chris Wilson of Colgate. He was further survived by his seven grandchildren, Nico, Eric, Dan, Kiley, Derek, Ben, and Melissa; as well as many other dear relatives and close friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret "Peggy" LaNell Sabin. A funeral service in remembrance of Donald was held on Sunday, 17 July at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend where Father Richard Stoffel officiated. Visitation was on Sunday at the funeral home.
