Maynard Does

      Maynard Does died peacefully at the age of 91 years surrounded by family on Wednesday, 25 April 2012. Maynard was born on 19 February 1921. He was preceded in death by his devoted wives Byrne "Bunnie" (Gerlach) and Patricia (Fitzsimmons). Loving father of Carol Ann (Frank) Blank, Greg (Ginny) Does, Mark (Lynette) Gerlach, Jill (Mike Elliott) Gerlach, Jeff (Nancy) Gerlach, Michael (Sue) Fitzsimmons, Terry Fitzsimmons, Maureen (Thomas Vanden Heuvel) Fitzsimmons-Vanden Heuvel, Daniel Fitzsimmons, Erin (Greg) Mueller, John Fitzsimmons, Patricia (Richard) Knabe and the late Timothy Fitzsimmons. Fond brother of Betty Kroening and the late Florence Boehringer. Dear grandfather of 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (2 on the way). Special friend of Jerry and Mary Jane, Doug, John and Ed. Visitation Sunday, 29 April at the funeral home. Interment was on Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery, Menomonee Falls. Maynard was retired from Dohrn Trucking, was a United States Navy WWII veteran and a member of the Beer City Chapter Truck Club and the Model A Club. Harold G. Pick

M, b. 20 July 1921, d. 06 March 2012
      Harold G. Pick of Carmichael, California, formerly of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, found peace with the Lord at the age of 90 years on Tuesday, 06 March 2012 at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael. Harold was born on 20 July 1921 in Shawano, Shawano County, Wisconsin USA. He married Sophie Powalisz on 15 January 1949. Sophie passed away on 17 February 2000. Harold was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army for three years. He worked for 37 years as a serviceman for the Wisconsin Gas Company, retiring in 1983. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Sophie, to California, Florida and Texas. He also enjoyed meeting for breakfast on Wednesday mornings with his former coworkers. His hobbies included bowling, golfing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children, Sandra (Kevin) Stenberg of Sacramento, Calif., Cynthia (Gregory) Paplacyzk of Allen, Texas, Raymond (Meladee) Pick of Jackson, a daughter-in-law Cynthia Pick of Gahanna, Ohio, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his two sons, Gregory Pick and Robert Pick, his two brothers, and six sisters. Memorial services were held in California and Wisconsin at later dates.

William F. Meyer

      William F. Meyer, also known as Bill, of Kewaskum, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 75 years on Friday, 16 March 2012 at Froedtert Health St. Joseph’s Hospital. William was born on 04 November 1936 in Kewaskum to the late Fredrick and Ella (nee Block) Meyer. He married Janet V. Butzlaff on 13 February 1957 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Bill served his country in the United States Navy for two years. Following his discharge he managed the F.S. Feed Mill for 25 years before he started farming full time.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Janet, two children: Debra (Michael) Lettow of Kewaskum and Jeff of Kewaskum, four grandchildren: Christina (Paul) Kress, David (Heather) Lettow, Daniel (Nicole) Lettow and April (fiancÈ Adam Jung) Lettow and two great-grandchildren: Tyler and Hadlee. He is further survived by his sister Elvira (Vince) Nigh of Kewaskum, his brother Carl (Bonnie) Meyer of Random Lake and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ella Meyer and two sisters: Dolores Kurth and a sister in infancy.

Visitation was on Tuesday, 20 March at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend. Private funeral services were held.

Gordon H. Whyte

M, b. 22 March 1921, d. 11 March 2012
      Gordon H. Whyte passed away at the Cedar Community at 90 years of age on Sunday, 11 March 2012. Gordon was born on 22 March 1921 in Butler, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA to Samuel and Agnes (nee Anderson) Whyte. He married Ruth Jacoby on 31 August 1941. Gordon enlisted in the United States Navy in January of 1943, He was a plank owner on the USS Crouter DE11 in the South Pacific until October of 1945. Gordon worked for 39 years for Wisconsin Drill Head and lived most of his life on a small farm north of Waukesha. Family times were special to him. Gordon enjoyed woodworking and spending time at the Cedar Ridge Woodshop.

Gordon is survived by his wife Ruth, children G. Kenneth (Diana), Carolyn (James), and Sherrie (Scott). He is further survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother Charles (Ester), sister-in-law Dolores Jacoby and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Gordon is preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Agnes Whyte.

A Memorial Service for Gordon was held on Sunday, 25 March at Peace United Church of Christ (343 1st Street in Kewaskum) where the Reverend Eric Kirkegaard presided. Gathering was at the church only on Sunday, 15 March. A private interment was held at Washington County Memor-ial Park in West Bend on Wednesday, 14 March. Memorials to Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum or Cedar Community.

Wayne W. Skebba

M, b. 15 May 1932, d. 16 March 2012
      Wayne W. Skebba of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at age 79 years on 16 March 2012. Wayne was born on 15 May 1932 to Charles and Rosemary Skebba. He married Betty (nee Karrells) on 17 December 1955 and was happily married for 56 years. Wayne served with the United States Coast Guard for four years. He then joined Simplicity’s R & D division in Port Washington. After retiring in 1992, he bartended part time at the Alpine Village in Mequon. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, growing roses, driving his Simplicity mower and snowblower and bartending. He loved playing cards, especially gin rummy with his grandchildren. Wayne and Betty enjoyed visiting their daughter, Laurie, and her family in Las Vegas. He also accompanied Terry and Alex on their annual Lake Erie walleye fishing trips, always returning with whoppers (fish and stories). Although "Pops" will be deeply missed, we will always remember his warm smile and sparkling blue eyes.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Terrence (Victoria) Skebba of Cedarburg; daughter Laurie (James) Shields of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Kristin and Michael Shields of Las Vegas, Tara Skebba of St. Louis, Missouri and Alex Skebba of Greencastle, Indiana; two brothers, Clayton (Dianne) Skebba of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Dennis (Eileen) Skebba of Nekoosa; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Russell. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Parish, 1619 Washington Street, Grafton, on Saturday, 24 March. His family greeted friends and neighbors during the visitation at the church. Private inurnment and burial were at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Ralph G. Bruckert

M, b. 15 May 1933, d. 21 March 2012
      Ralph G. Bruckert of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 78 years on Wednesday, 21 March 2012 at Froedtert Health St. Jospeh Hospital. Ralph was born on 15 May 1933 in Nenno, son of Frank and Emma (nee Breuer) Bruckert. Ralph worked the family farm until entering the United States Army. Following his discharge, he became employed at the West Bend Company, retiring in 1977. On 04 May 1957, he was united in marriage to Rita E. Reinders at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Nabob. The couple then settled in West Bend. Ralph was an avid sports fan and especially a baseball fan playing baseball in Allenton for a number of years and co-managing the VFW Little League team in West Bend for many years. He also cheered on the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago White Sox and the hometown favorite Milwaukee Brewers. As a lifetime member of the West Bend Fred A. Schaefer Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1393, he was a member of the drill team and honor guard. Ralph also managed the VFW’s hospital equipment rental program, providing affordable equipment to many people in need. His memberships also included the Lt. Adrian Frankow Chapter No. 58 Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife Rita; six children, Donald (Cindy Sperling) of Sussex, Maureen (Michael) Liddy of Topeka, Kansas, Eileen (Jon Cech) Bruckert of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Ray (fiancée Elizabeth Wilkinson) of Menomonee Falls, Jean (Greg) Heberer of Cedarburg and Gregory (Amy Redig) of West Bend; six grandchildren, Kelly Liddy, Robert (Cortney) Liddy, Mitchell (Jill) Bruckert, Emily Bruckert (fiancée Brandon Kos), Stephen Heberer and Jamie Heberer; one great-grandson, Robbie Liddy, Jr; one brother and five sisters: Peter (Eugenia) of Nenno, Marion Krieser of Kewaskum, Virginia Feucht of Nenno, Rosemary Henning of Theresa and Helen Giese of Mayville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Theresa Bruckert of West Bend, Paul (Shirley) Reinders of West Bend, Joseph (Marlene) Reinders of West Bend, Alfred, Jr. (Shari) Reinders of Beaver Dam, Ceil (Ed) Kroll of West Bend, Teresa (Mathias) Stoffel of West Bend, Mary Ann Mayer of Port Washington, Alice (Peter) Schulteis of Milwaukee, Judith (Bernard) Beck of West Bend, Rosemary (Raymond) Zingsheim of Colgate and Lorraine Boden of Hartford; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gilbert, two brothers in infancy, his parents-in-law Alfred and Olive Reinders, brothers-and-sisters-in-law Kenneth Krieser, George Feucht, Eli Henning, Harvey Giese, Clara and Leroy Boden, Alex and Marilyn Reinders and Lester Mayer, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, 26 March at Holy Angels Catholic Church where the Reverend Gerald Brittain presided. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Visitation was at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend on Sunday and also Monday at the church.

For the past 35 years, Ralph has lived with multiple sclerosis.

Russell W. Peck

M, b. 09 July 1948, d. 24 April 2012
      Russell W. Peck passed away at the age of 63 years on Tuesday, 24 April 2012 at Froedtert Hospital. Russell was born on 09 July 1948 to Russell and Elizabeth (nee Roth). He married Sherry (nee Knudsen) on 03 June 1989. Russ was a proud Marine veteran who served in Vietnam. He served as past Department Adjutant, Commander of the Wisconsin American Legion, and American Legion Post 1 of Germantown, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. He was also a member of the Germantown VFW Post 9202, the Marine Corps League, and 40 et 8. Russ worked tirelessly in support of our veterans, most recently as the Director of the Bureau of Claims at the WI Dept. of VA at the Milwaukee Regional Office. He was an active member of the Board of Directors for Exodus House in Kewaskum.

Russell is survived by his wife, Sherry; cherished daughter, Bonni; mother, Elizabeth Peck; sister, Kathryn Peck; mother-in-law, Phillis Knudsen; sisters-in-law, Denise (Randy) Schwager, Valerie (Mitchell) Rhodes, Lisa Knudsen-Smith, and Aimee (Ken) Rogers; grandaunt, Anna Picard; uncle, Kenneth (Rita) Roth; aunt, Bonnie Raffels; cousins, Ervin M. (Marianne) Kanieski, Kenneth Roth Jr., Merry Beth (Randy) Preisler, and Andrew (Martha) Roth. He is further survived by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, 05 May at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend (1420 West Paradise Drive). The visitation was held at the funeral home on Saturday, 05 May with an American Legion walk-through taking place promptly at 2:30 P.M. Inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin VA Cemetery in Union Grove at a later date.

Hilary C. Martin

M, b. 23 January 1921, d. 20 March 2012
      Hilary C. Martin of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 years at his home on Tuesday, 20 March 2012. Hilary was born on 23 January 1941 in Hales Corners, Wisconsin to Hilary and Catherine (nee Hanger) Martin. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1959 and then attended Marquette University. Hilary served his country in the National Guard. He was a businessman in Washington County for most of his career until his health disabled him and prompted his early retirement. Hilary was an avid and talented sportsman, enjoying golf, skiing, baseball, hunting and motorcycle riding. His most memorable moments revolved around relaxing at the farm, and spending time with his pets, Coco, Mabel and Mr. Peabody.

He is survived by his beloved soul mate, Nancy, his son Nicholas (Aubree), two grandchildren: Taetem and Lincoln. Three sisters: Nancy Gremminger, Mary Wohlwend and Judy (Lee) Barwick. Two sisters-in-law Florence Martin and Harriet Martin. He is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilary and Catherine Martin and two brothers: John and James and a sister in infancy: three brothers-in-law Jack Gremminger, Larry Wohlwend and James Rintelman.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, 22 March with Father David LaPlante officiating. The burial was at St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.

Charles Himes

      Charles Himes, also known as Chuck. of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 85 years on Sunday, 25 March 2012 at his residence. Charles was born on 05 May 1926 in Leaf River, Illinois to Charles and Margaret (nee Beck) Himes. Chuck served in the United States Navy as a signalman during WWII. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Gelhar on 28 July 1953 in Waukegan, Illinois. Chuck and Mary Lou owned and operated Chuckalou Supper Club in Jackson, Wisconsin for many years. Chuck also worked at the Washington County Department of Social Services until retiring in 2000. He and Mary Lou volunteered at the Albrecht Free Clinic and Aurora Visiting Nurse Association for many years. Chuck also enjoyed volunteering at the Barton School Reading Program. Chuck and Mary Lou received numerous volunteer awards for their dedication. Chuck was a member of the 5th Avenue United Methodist Church and he was a lifetime member of the West Bend Fred A. Schaefer VFW Post 1393 and the Jackson S. Sgt. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 486.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; a daughter, Linda (Robert) Neuy of West Bend; two granddaughters, Lisa (Jeff) Simmelink of Kewaskum and Megan (Pat) Hoff of West Bend; five great-grandchildren , Charles Neuiszer, Danielle Neuiszer, Emily Halterman, Ian Camarillo, and James Camarillo; a brother, Noel (Connie) Himes of Arizona; three brothers-in-law, Frank (Elaine) Gelhar of Iowa, Ralph Gelhar of Illinois, and Harry (Kathy) Gelhar of Illinois; a sister-in-law, Monica (Laurie) Plaskan of Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Lorraine Gelhar.

A funeral service in remembrance of Chuck was held on Thursday, 29 March at Fifth Ave. United Methodist Church, 323 South 5th Avenue, West Bend. The Rev. Wesley Falk officiated. Entombment followed at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation was held at the church on Thursday. There was a AVFW and American Legion walk through.

Arthur Paul Jones

M, b. 21 December 1931, d. 24 March 2012
      Arthur Paul Jones passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years surrounded by his children on 24 March 2012. Arthur was born in East Orange, New Jersey, USA, on 21 December 1933. He was the only child of Johnson and Mildred (nee Harford) Jones. Arthur graduated from Union High School in New Jersey in 1951 and from Roosevelt University in Chicago Illinois with a BSBA major in personnel administration in 1963. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. Arthur married the love of his life, Mary (Wurster) on 03 September 1955. Together they had five children. Arthur worked at Bell and Howell as a human resource manager before transferring to Hartford, Washingtin County, Wisconsin to work as Micro Design’s human resource director. He and his wife opened the Jordan House Bed and Breakfast in 1987. During this time he also worked as the Director of Weatherization Commission for the city of Hartford until his retirement. While living in Wisconsin, he was an avid collector of antiques. For the past 20 years, he was an enthusiastic and passionate collector of marbles, traveling around the United States to attend marble shows and conventions. Arthur was a founding member of the Badger Marble Club of Wisconsin. Arthur was well known and respected for his honesty, integrity and sound advice. He will be long remembered for his captivating stories and wonderfully colorful sense of humor. He will be loved and remembered fondly for these qualities.

Arthur was preceded in death by his son, Michael, who passed on Jan. 29, 1978, and his wife Mary, who passed on April 30, 1992. He is survived by his children David (Anne) Jones, Kathy (Mark) Buchanan, Mary (Brian) Grensavitch and Steven Jones; his Grandchildren Michelle, Dustin, Matthew, Mark Allen, Nicole, Kyle and Derek. Arthur is also survived by his closest cousin Jack (Carmella) Crane. Arthur is further survived by dear friends George and Judy Peterson, Bill and Vicki Bass and fellow marble collectors who have truly enriched his life over the past 20 years. He is survived further still by his three and four legged relatives Sandy, Honey, Cocoa and Rae.

Reminiscing and sharing stories of Art’s life was with the family and friends on Friday at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home in Hartford.

      John Robert Weyker was born to eternal life Thursday, 22 March 2012 at the age of 84 years. John was born on 12 October 1927. He was the loving husband of the late Lorraine (Nee Czecholinski); loving father of Lynne (Joe) Harrings and Lori (Scott Christensen) Buntrock; grandfather of John, Kelli and Katie Buntrock and Kara Harrings; brother of Dick (Nancy) Weyker and the late Elaine Wranik. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.

Visitation was on Wednesday, 28 March at Schramka-Densow Funeral Home, 423 Noth Main Street, Thiensville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. A Mass of Christian Burial was on Thursday, 29 March at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 138 Buntrock Avenue, Thiensville. Entombment
with military honors was at Resurrection Cemetery, Mequon. John was a longtime member of the Mequon-Thiensville Lions Club, a World War II Marine veteran and a member of the Northshore American Legion Post 1289. On behalf of the family, memorials to the Honor

Walter A. Spradau

      Walter A. Spradau, also known as Wally, of Kewaskum, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Jackson, died at the age of 78 years on Thursday 22 March 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County. Walter was born on 02 May 1933 at the family home in the town of Ashford to Walter F. and Esther (nee Krueger) Spradau. He married Sharon Jordan on 14 June 1958 in Lomira. Walter served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 and was a member of the Germantown American Legion Post 1. He was employed at the Gehl Company in West Bend for 13 years and then at Briggs and Stratton Corporation in Wauwatosa for 13 years until his retirement. He was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ in Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; two sisters, Mae (special friend Bob Beisbier) Spradau of Kewaskum, and Sandy (Jim) Stroh of Eden; a brother, Roger Spradau of West Bend; five sisters-in-law, Julienne Smith of Racine, Florence Jordan of Racine, Lou Ann Gudex of Campbellsport, Marjory Jahn of North Fond du Lac, and Judy (Jim) Geib of Cascade; two brothers-in-law, Norbert Theisen of Campbellsport , and Joe (Jane) Seis of DePere; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenny Spradau.

A memorial service in remembrance of Walter was held on Saturday, 14 April at New Hope United Church of Christ, 4360 Jackson Drive, Jackson. Reverend Jim Hill officiated. Inurnment of Wally’s cremated remains was in Peace Cemetery in Jackson. Visitation was at the church. Per Walter’s wishes, no flowers or plants please. Memorials to New Hope United Church of Christ would be appreciated.

Milton G. Kuehl

      Milton G. Kuehl passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years on Tuesday, 27 March 2012 at Cedar Community. Milton was born on 02 September 1924 to Edward and Eleanore (nee Schreier) in the town of Addison, Washingtn County, Wisconsin, USA. He was baptized on 21 September 1924 by Pastor Julius Uhlmann and confirmed in 1937 by Pastor Herman Cares at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He grew up speaking German and later interpreted German, while serving in the United States Army from 1944-1946. Milton married Lilas (nee Groth) on 04 October 1947 at Redeemer Lutheran Evangelical Church in Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County. Milton enjoyed caring for his rose garden, traveling after their retirement to Branson, Missouri. And most of all, loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter Kathleen (Mark) Mertes; grandchildren Stephen (Krista) and Rebecca. He is also survived by his brother Russell. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Harold.

Funeral services for Milton were held on Friday, 30 March at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church (777 South Indiana Ave.) in West Bend where Pastor Robert Hein and Pastor Richard Lauersdorf presided. Visitation was on Friday, 30 March at the church. Entombment was on Saturday, 31 March 31 at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Bernard J. Wolf

M, b. 11 January 1931, d. 28 March 2012
      Bernard J. Wolf passed away at the age of 81 years on Wednesday, 28 March 2012. Bernard was born in Richfield, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, on 11 January 1931 the son of John and Anna (nee Schmitt). He graduated from Slinger High School in 1949 and then served in the Army during the Korean War until 1953. Bernard married Dolores (nee Hamm) on 16 June 1956. He was a truck driver for CW Transport (formerly Olson Transport in West Bend) retiring in 1988. Bernard then drove for the Threshold for 10 years. He enjoyed gambling, deer hunting and spending time with family. He especially loved watching his grandkids play sports. Bernard was a member of the Slinger VFW Post 3358 and the Moose Lodge.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, 02 April at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church (1025 South Seventh Ave., West Bend) whereh Father Nathan Reesman presided. The visitation was at the church on Monday, 02 April. Interment of cremains took place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Allenton immediately following the Mass.

      Marson James Koberstein, age 88, WWII veteran, AAF, born to eternal life on 30 April 2012 in Wilmette, Illinois. Formerly of Shorewood, Mequon and St. Germain, Wiscnsin, USA. Marson was born on 26 July 1923, the son of Anton and Gertrude (nee Konop) Koberstein; beloved husband of 56 years to the late Ruth Patricia Semmens ; loving father of Nancy Koberstein, Dr. James (Barb) Koberstein and Mary Koberstein (Richard Hansen); grandfather of Charlie (Michelle) Hipwood, Carey (Paul) Kasbohm, Brian Koberstein, Michael Koberstein and Paul Medlin; great-grandfather of Conner and Ryan Kasbohm, Zoey and Cameron Hipwood; brother of Calvin (Ellie) Koberstein and the late Daniel, Robert, Anthony, David and Ronald Koberstein; also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was on Friday, 04 May. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Joseph Church, 1747 Lake Avenue, Wilmette. Interment was private at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, Wisconsin.

      James William McCulloch, also known as Bill, passed away at the age of 91 years on Sunday, 01 April 2012 at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport, Fond Du Lac County, Wisconsin, USA, surrounded by his loving family. James was born on 26 February 1921 in Joliet, Illinois, the son of William and Angela (nee Reedy) McCulloch. He graduated from Northwestern University with a business degree after serving in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as the personnel manager of American Medical Association in Chicago, and then as director of personnel management at The Sisters of Holy Cross for over 10 years in South Bend, Ind. He also served as director of personnel for various hospital organizations throughout the United States.

James was survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane (nee Shirk); daughter Maryanne (John) Plant of West Bend; grandchildren Ellice Plant of Brooklyn, N.Y., Joel (Margo) Plant of Milwaukee, Christopher Plant of Waukesha, and Katie (Nolan) Erdman of Wauwatosa; and great-grandchildren Milo, Oliver and Oscar Plant. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his siblings, Vera Mitchell, Jean Stephens and John McCulloch.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, 09 April at Holy Angels Catholic Church (138 North Eighth Avenue, West Bend) where Father Gerald Brittian presided. The visitation was held at the church on Monday, 09 April. Interment took place at Highland Cemetery in South Bend, Indiana at a later date.

James H. Scherf

M, b. 07 October 1943, d. 05 April 2012
      James H. Scherf of Washington Avenue in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at Horizon Hospice on 05 April 2012 at the young age of 68 years. Jim was born in Port Washington on 07 October1943, the son of the Frederick and Arline (nee Koehler) Lubner. Jim was a Cedarburg High School graduate, class of 1961, then attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He served his country from 1967 to 1969 in the United States Army and was a member of the Cedarburg Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288. Jim worked at Doerr Electric in shipping/receiving for 23 years and then was a production supervisor for 21 years at Karak Corporation in Cedarburg. He loved baseballplaying for the Cedarburg Mercs Land O’ Lakes baseball team; was a Little League coach for many years; umpired for over 30 years for WIAA, girls high school leagues, softball leagues and the Land O’ Lakes league.

Jim was survived by his fiancee of 22 years, Patricia A. Buhrow; children, Kristen Scherf and Daniel Scherf, both of Arizona; stepdaughter Christina (Dave) Balister of Port Washington and Marybeth Buhrow of Grafton; grandchildren, Korbin Scherf, Kailey Scherf and Alex Balister; sister, Donna Hertzberg of Hawaii; stepfather, Alfred "Buddy" Lubner of Cedarburg; stepbrother, Thomas (Kathy) Lubner of Grafton; and stepsister Kathy (Troy Stuart) Lubner of Waubeka.

A special thank you to my stepdaughters, Christina and Marybeth, who helped me so much during my time of illness. I would have never made it through all my treatments without you.

A memorial service was held at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg on Sunday, 15 April. Family received friends prior to the service.

Joseph M. Quick

M, b. 26 June 1931, d. 20 April 2012
      Joseph M. Quick, also known as Joe, passed away peacefully on the morning of 02 April 2012 at the age of 80 years in Kissimmee, Flordia. He was enjoying his annual winter vacation, which he loved so very much, when God called him home. Joseph was born on 26 June 1931 in Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, the son of Frank and Theresa (nee Gehl) Quick. He graduated from Hartford High School in 1949. Joseph attended Marquette University until his studies were interrupted by service in the United States Army. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. When he returned from Alaska, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Callahan, on 10 October 1953. Joe owned and operated Joe Quick’s Standard Service for 10 years. He then worked for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department for 24 years, retiring as a detective, a job he loved. Prior to his retirement, Joe established “Joe Quick Realty,” which kept him active building homes and selling real estate until only recently. His faith was important to him, and he was proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe was involved in the community, serving as a city alderman and volunteering at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum. He was also a member of the American Legion. Aside from his undying faith, his family meant everything to him. Joe enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren; he delighted in doing things for them. They will cherish the many memories and special times they shared with him.

Joe is survived by his wife, his children Frank (Mary) Quick of Fond du Lac, Michael (Debbie) Quick of West Bend, Kathleen Quick (Mark) Schneider of Onalaska and Steve (Kris) Quick of Austin, Texas, his grandchildren Betsy, Michael, Erin, Timothy, Robert, Lucia and Peter, and sisterin-law Vivian Quick. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Mary Ann Quick Reis, Paul Quick, Rita Quick Vogelsang, and Virginia Quick Dolder.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, 14 April 2012 at St. Kilian Catholic Church with the Rev. David LaPlante officiating. The family greeted relatives and friends at the Church on Saturday priot to Mass.

Carl Palash

M, b. 06 January 1925, d. 07 April 2012
      Carl Palash, passed away at the age of 85 years on Saturday, 07 April 2012. Carl was born on 06 January 1925 in Amherst, son of John and Melvina (nee Konkol) Palash. In 1950, he was called to service by the United States Army and served honorably in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952. Upon his return from the war, Carl moved to West Bend, where he met Delores Freitag in 1954 and married 04 February 1956 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. After 19 years, Carl retired from the West Bend Joint School District in 1988. He was a loving husband, dad and grandpa who looked forward to family get-togethers. Carl also enjoyed playing sheepshead, fishing, hunting, mushroom picking and making his personal sausage and wine.

Carl was survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Delores Palash of West Bend, children Mary (Ty) Vaughan of Pewaukee, Carl R. (Denise) Palash of Carol Stream, Illinois, Steven Palash of West Bend, and Laurie (Bob) Yahr of West Bend. He is the proud grandpa of eight grandchildren: Jason, Brittany, and Kyle Vaughan, Ryan, Amanda, and Andrew Palash, and Austin and Amber Yahr. Carl is further survived by his sisters, Evelyn Staniscewski of Hales Corners and Florence Muldoon of South Bend, Indiana, his twin brother Clem of Slinger, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings Lucy Sharafinski, Susie Sopa, Jenny Sharafinski, Gertrude Sharafinski, Marie Zale, Sister Immaculate (Bernice), John, Barney, Raymond, Carolina Sopa, Della Weisbrod, and Chester.

A visitation was held on Friday, 13 April at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, 406 Jefferson Street in West Bend, with a funeral Mass following. Father John Radetski presided. Immediately following was the burial, with full military honors, at St. Mary Cemetery (new).

Frank P. Buchholz

      Frank P. Buchholz of Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years on Tuesday, 10 April 2012 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg. Frank was born in Grafton on 27 March 1919, the son of Nicholas and Barbara (nee Oberst) Buchholz. He married Clarice (nee Schmidt) on 18 October 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. Frank was a lifelong active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton. He was a proud United States Army World War II veteran and was a past commander of the Belgium Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5373. He was a member of the Luxembourg American Cultural Society, lifelong member of the Ozaukee County Historical Society, a town of Grafton building inspector for 25 years and was also a member of the Golden Tones from the Grafton Senior Center.

Frank was survived by his wife, Clarice (nee Schmidt) of Grafton; children, Ken (Lucy) of Shorewood, Allen (Cheri) of Cedarburg, Barb (Gary) Frank of Cedarburg, Mary (Dennis) Jaeger of Cedarburg, Pete (Mari) of Newburg and Bill (Terri) of Grafton; grandchildren, John of Milwaukee, Paul (Adrianna) of Claremont, California, Bobbie (Ben) Recob of Cedarburg, Marcie (Donny) Long of Frisco, Texas, Brian Frank of Grafton, Wendy Frank of Wauwatosa, Mike Jaeger of Brown Deer, David Jaeger of Grafton, Ben of Newburg, Emily of Newburg, Renee of Grafton and Matt of Grafton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe, Clem, Leo and Ray; sisters, Leone, Theresa Tennies and Marie Augustin.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, 14 April at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1619 Washington Street, Grafton. Interment was at the church cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday at the church prior to the Mass.

Reuben W. Harter

M, b. 02 October 1923, d. 11 April 2012
      Reuben W. Harter died peacefully at his home in Beechwood at the age of 88 years on Wednesday, 11 April 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born on 02 October 1923 in the town of Scott. Reuben was te son of Charles and Ida (Hintz) Harter. On 26 April 1947, he was united in marriage to Alice Fredrich at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. Reuben served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force. He farmed the family homestead retiring in 1978. Reuben was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott where over the years he served as an elder, usher, Sunday school superintendent and on numerous other committees. Reuben was a member of the Kewaskum Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 and was an active member of the Beechwood Fire Department, later becomming a department honorary member. Reuben also served terms as a town of Scott supervisor. He will fondly be remembered as one who enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, playing cards, gardening, reading and spending time with his family. He was deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.

Those Reuben leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 65 years, Alice; two sons, Gale (Mary Jane) Harter of Random Lake and Steven Harter of Adell; three granddaughters, Stephanie (Matthew) Huff of Milwaukee, Rachel (Dan) Mayer of Adell and Rebecca (Adam) Schneider of Sacramento, California; four great-grandchildren, Maya and Keagan Schneider, Stella Huff and Brynn Mayer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Reuben was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives, Alton (Florence) Harter and Marlin (Evangeline “Vannie”) Harter; a sister and her husband, Laverne (Fredrick “Fritz”) Kleinke; two brothers-in-law and their wives Clarence (Helen) Fredrich and Gordon (Ruth) Fredrich; two nephews Ronald Harter and Kenneth Harter.

Funeral services for Reuben were held on Sunday, 15 April at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott (1.5 miles straight south of Beechwood on Highway A, then Highway HH – or from West Bend, north on Highway 144 to Highway 28, left on Highway 28 less than a mile and then right on Paradise Road at the church sign, W8497 Brazelton Drive, Random Lake) where the Reverend Kurt Ziemann officiated. Burial, with military honor rites was performed by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post followed the church cemetery. Relatives and friends called at the church prior to the services.

Albert J. Asch

M, b. 22 September 1932, d. 14 April 2012
      Albert J. Asch, also known as Bud, of the town of Wayne, Washington Conty, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 79 years on Saturday, 14 April 2012 at his residence. Albert was born on 22 September 1932, in Ludlow, Kentucky, the son of Albert G. and Lucille (nee Jenkins) Asch. Bud attended Ludlow High School and went on to attend the University of Kentucky – Lexington where he earned his bachelor’s in music education. On 12 June 1954, he was united in marriage to Anna Akers in Carrollton, Kentucky. Bud then served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1955-1956 playing in the military band. After serving in the army, he taught music at Dupont Manuel High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Bud went on to earn his master’s in music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He then began teaching at the University of Kansas – Wichita. In 1968, Bud and his family moved to West Bend where he began teaching at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County until 1997. He loved teaching music and received the teacher of the year award many times. He was the Kettle Moraine Symphony’s Orchestra founder and director emeritus, and the director of the Lake Shore Band. Bud was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Kohlsville, and Pleasant Valley Tennis Club. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, caring for his apple orchard and gardens at home and riding his motorcycle.

Albert was survived by his wife, Anna; four children, Glenn (Laurie) Asch, Dan (Masayo) Asch, David (Sheryl) Asch, and Carol (Randy) Stubbs; 11 grandchildren, Andrew, Charlie, Eric (Janelle), Ariel, Carrie, Megan, Haley, Marissa, Nathan, Devon, and Alex; sister, Mary Lou (Russell) Asch Ross; extended family including, Kristin Hillman (Patrick) Wanzeck, Pat (Ann Marie) Rian Wanzeck, Jade Wilder, Andrea (Dennis) Bartsch, George (Barbara) Staerkel; and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura Staerkel; and parents-in-law, Dewey and Harriet Akers.

A memorial service in remembrance of Bud was held on Tuesday, 17 April at St. John United Church of Christ, Highway WW and Beaver Dam Road, where the Reverend Bret Myers officiated. Visitation was on Tuesday at the church prior to the service. A reception followed.

Alvin J. Bruendl

      Alvin J. Bruendl, also known as Al, passed away at the age of 94 years on 16 April 2012. He was born in Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, on 27 January 1918, son of John and Mary (nee Hansen) Bruendl. He was raised on a farm in Newburg. After his schooling, he traveled for a few years before returning to Wisconsin and marrying Angeline (nee Tadych) on 02 October 1941 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Beaver Dam, Dodge County. He entered the United States Army in December of 1942 and served overseas during World War II. Upon his return, he lived in Milwaukee where he started his career in the metal stamping industry. Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing sheepshead at family gatherings and watching sports on TV.

Alvin was survived by his wife, Angeline; children, Ronald of Hayward and Kathleen (David Ritter) Vaughan of West Bend; grandchildren, Debbie (Jan) Lucas, Kristine Bruendl, John Bruendl, Sheilah (Russell) Krebs, Jennifer (Bryan) Ziegler, Jodi Taylor, and Ronald Vaughan; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Nicole Lucas, Kaylyn and Kyle Krebs, and KimberLee Emmrich; sister, Lorraine Zimdars; and sisters-in-law, Ann and Angel Bruendl. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Arndt; brothers, George and Viol; sister, Florence (Vic) Wollner; and brother-in-law, Earl Zimdars. A Mass of Christian burial was on Friday, 20 April at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (406 Jefferson Street, West Bend, Wisconsin (53090) where Fathers John Radetski and Pat Wendt presided. The visitation was held on 20 April prior to the Mass. Entombment took place at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac.

Melvin Allen Kertscher

M, b. 20 December 1942, d. 16 April 2012
      Melvin Allen Kertscher of Campbellsport, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, USA, went to his heavenly home at the age of 69 years on Monday, 16 April 2012 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Melvin was born in West Bend on 20 December 1942, the son of Melvin and Bernice (nee Stemper) Kertscher. He graduated from Random Lake High School in 1960. Alvin served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. On 14 May 1966, he married Rita Jacky at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. Melvin owned and operated Vista Sales Inc. He was a member of the Fond du Lac American Legion Post 75. He was a former member of the Kettle Kruisers Snowmobile Club from 1978 until 1988. Melvin coached baseball from 1978 until 1990 for the Long Lake Baseball Association. He loved his grandchildren and loved to ride his Honda Trike.

Survivors include his wife Rita, his mother Bernice of West Bend, three sons: Jim (Kay) of Sheboygan, Bill (Traci) and Rick (Shannon) both of Fond du Lac, one daughter: Kim (Nick) Konen of St. Cloud, six grandchildren: Kyle, McKayla, Emma, Spencer, Abby Kertscher and Maci Konen, four brothers: Ron (Joan) of Hot Springs,Ark., Floyd (Helen) of Campbellsport, Larry of West Bend and Robert (Vicki) of Milwaukee and twin sisters: Jean Mansfield of Green Bay and Joyce Haeuser of Kewaskum, and nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.

A prayer service was held on Thursday, 19 April at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 Highway B, Eden. The Reverend Joseph Juknialis officiated. Visitation was on Thursday, at the church along with military rites performed by American Legion Post 75.

Ralph T. Adamczyk

      Ralph T. Adamczyk formerly of Green Lake, Green Lake Cpunty. Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age oif 82 years on 04 April 2012 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. He was born on 19 January 1930 in the town of Trenton to John and Genevieve (Haug) Adamczyk. Ralpj served in the United States Air Force for three years. He retired from A.O. Smith after 30 years.

He is survived by three sisters, Ruth Primas, Esther Retzer and Evelyn (Norbert) Krautkramer, and other relatives.

Gravesite rites were held on 09 April at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Newburg, where Deacon Mike Koebel officiated.
