John C. Bandy

      John C. Bandy passed away peacefully at the age of 80 years on Thursday, 19 April 2012 at St. Michaels Hospital in Stevens Point, Portage County, Wisconsin, USA. John was born on 21 April 1931 in Sheboygan to Earl and Amelia (nee Lubach) Bandy. A short time after graduating from Sheboygan North High School, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Cherry Point, North Carolina. He married Marian Walter of Menomonee Falls on 16 April 1953 in New Bern, North Carolina. After being honorably discharged, the couple settled in West Bend where John worked at the Gehl Company until his retirement in 1994.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Marian, his daughter Barbara, brother Joe Reif and sister Esther Hadden. He was survived by his son Jack (Silvia) of Reuggisburg, Switzerland, and grandsons Christian, Frederick and Timothy of Bern, Switzerland; son Steve (Laurie) and grandchildren Rachel, John, Stephanie and Drew of Amherst Junction; daughter Karen (Dave) Wery of Dickson, Tennessee; and daughter Debbie (Steve) Jacoby and grandchild Laura (Brian) Stensgard, great-grandchildren Charlette, Liam and Annabelle Stensgard of Duluth, Minnesota, grandchild Alicia Jacoby of West Bend and grandchild Steven (Crystal) Jacoby of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is further survived by his sister Charlotte Youngblood of Chaska, Minnesota. and special friend Patty Komar of Amherst Junction.

The family greeted relatives and friends during a period of visitation at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend on Wednesday, 25 April. Burial services with military honors followed at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

Donald W. Hagen

M, b. 20 January 1935, d. 21 April 2012
      Donald W. Hagen, also known as Lefty, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 77 years on Saturday, 21 April 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, Waykesha County surrounded by his loving family. Don was born 20 January 1935 in Hartford, the son of Jacob and Loretta (nee Gehl) Hagen. He was united in marriage to Donna Mae Berschneider on 16 August 1957. Don was baptized to the Lord on 27 January 1935 and confirmed in May of 1964. He served his country in the United Staes Army from 1956 to 1962 and served with the 32nd Division during the Berlin Crisis. Don worked for Harnischfeger Corporation (P&H) for 43 years, and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Don dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be deeply missed.

Don was survived by his wife Donna; children Pamela Bisek, Sharon (Daniel) Licht, Sandra (Randall) Abbott and Brian Hagen; grandchildren Katrina (Matt) Lipman, Krista (Nathan) Rusch, Nicole (Michael) Peters, Courtney Hagen (special friend Jake), Ryan Abbott, Molly Hagen (special friend Dan), Brandon Grudzinski (special friend Jasmine), Kyle Bisek, Hailey Hagen (special friend Grant), Alex Hagen; great-grandchildren Alana, Ava, Finley, Aubrey, and Blake; his sisters Mary Jean Pankratz, Phyllis Ribbons, and Joan (Donald) Kastenholtz; and his sisters-in-law Gloria Hagen, Luella Hagen, Karen Hagen and Beverly Hagen. He was further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Loretta Hagen, his son-in-law Joseph Bisek, his inlaws Raymond and Bernice Berschneider, brothers Robert, James, Thomas and Howard Hagen, and his brothers-in-law Robert Pankratz and John Ribbons.

A funeral service for Don was held on Wednesday, 25 April at Peace Lutheran Church, Hartford where the Reverend Aaron Steinbrenner officiated. The family greeted relatives and friends on Wednesday at the church. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Thursday, 26 April.

Donald N. Reitz

      Donald N. Reitz, also known as Don, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 79 years surrounded by his loving family on Friday, 24 November 2006. He served his country in the United States Army. Don was past president of The Coachman "Lakeshore Runners" and a member of Wisconsin Camping Group. He was a "winter Texan" enjoying his winters in Alamo, Texas. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved his hobby farm

He was the father of Ronald (Karen Gotwalt) Reitz of Wauwatosa, Linda Reitz, Larry (Janice Covert) Reitz and Michael (Janet) Reitz, all of Hartford; dearest grandfather of Amelia Reitz of Maryland, Timothy (Jessica) Reitz of Slinger, Nicholas Reitz and Brandon Reitz, both of Hartford; dear brother of Margaret Lahn of Tomahawk, Dorothy Tank of Black Creek, Silva "Dollie" Bloedorn of Seymour, Norman (Dorothy) Reitz of Washington, Lois (Donald) Fries of Alabama and Barbara (Melvin) Barclay of Seymour. Also surviving were nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; his son, Allen; a grandson, Michael; his sisters, Myrtle and Adeline; and his brother, Aubert.

Visitation was on Tuesday, 28 November at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home in Hartford and on Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 255 West Lincoln Avenue in Hartford. The funeral service was on Wednesday at the church. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with a military graveside service under the auspices of Hartford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8834.

Ervin Gerhard Waala

M, b. 15 October 1927, d. 27 April 2012
      Ervin Gerhard Waala Jr., also known as Mickey, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 84 years on Friday, 27 April 2012 surrounded by his loving family at the Kathy Hospice in the town of West Bend. Ervin was born on 15 October 1927 in Barton, son of Irvin and Frieda (nee Otten) Waala Sr. On 07 April 1945, Ervin was united in marriage to Betty Geib at St. Mary Catholic Church in Barton. Shortly after their marriage Ervin enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably during World War II. Upon his return from the war, Ervin worked at McGraw-Edison as a supervisor. He had many talents including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, moving houses, building and remodeling homes. He became quite an entrepreneur who built, owned and operated several businesses including the Snack Shack which is now Tomaso’s Pizza in Barton, as well as Waala Wheel and Tire. Ervin and Betty later “retired” to Little Green Lake near Markesan where they ran a motel and rented out cottages, returning to West Bend in 2010. Ervin was an avid sports fan playing baseball for Barton in the Land O’ Lakes league. He also loved the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. Above all, Ervin was a loving family man and enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ervin was survived by his loving wife, Betty; 10 children, Ervin (Susan) Waala III, Samuel (Margaret) Waala, Stephen (Debra) Waala, Gay (Frank) Heimerl, Gary (Ursula) Waala, Todd (Sandra) Waala, Kay (George) Gudex, Lori (Jay) Schneider, Michael (Jill) Waala, and David (Shelly) Waala; 35 grandchildren, Andrea, April, Brooke, Katie, Anne, Greg, Luke, Andrew, Angela, Jaime, Michelle, Laura, Christian, Dana, Amy, Kara, Jessica, Travis, Amber, Benjamin, Jason, Tracy, Jason, Tony, Brandon, Grant, Evan, Macie, Bethany, Harrison, Madeline, Hayden, Elijah, Keaton, and Mia-Faith; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Varnes. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Jeanne; two sisters, Joan Dickmann and Jane Kleinhans; and two brothers, Gerald and Ronald Waala.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial in remembrance of Ervin was held on Friday, 04 May at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1610 Monroe Street, West Bend. Visitation was on Friday at the church.

Ken Miller

M, b. 04 November 1928, d. 22 April 2012
      Ken Miller passed away at the age of 83 years on Monday, 22 April 2012 at Cedar Bay Rehabilitation center after complications from a hip fracture suffered earlier in April. Ken was born on 04 November 1928 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of John and Ida (nee Lincoln) Miller. After graduating high school in 1946 and working in sales positions which took him across the country, Ken served in the United States Army from 1951-53 in a journey which took him across Europe. He was stationed in Germany but had many travels and told wonderful stories of those years that he often described as the adventure of his life. After an honorable discharge, Ken continued his travels across the United States and Mexico, eventually earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa with the help of the GI Bill. He tried on many hats and explored many careers during this period of his life, eventually landing in Sheboygan as a social worker and then a Probation and Parole officer, a job he loved and held until his retirement. Sheboygan was where he married Althea Hill and began a family that expanded in Port Washington and ultimately came to settle in West Bend. Ken’s love of adventure continued with trips to the four corners of the United States, Europe, Africa and Australia, but he always returned to his adopted hometown of West Bend. His natural curiosity and gift of gab led to countless encounters around town and across the world, both of which are a little bit less interesting without him.

Ken will be dearly missed by his daughter Karen of Atlanta; son Steve and daughter-in-law Josephine of New York; grandson Justin of Lawrenceville, Georgia; granddaughter Simone of New York; great-grandson Caden of Lawrenceville, Georgia; nephew William Sirowy of Redlands, Calififornia; niece Linda Gibbons of Ventura, California; and his many friends in the West Bend area.

A private service was held for immediate family on Thursday, 26 April and Ken's ashes were laid to rest at the Washington County Memorial Park cemetery.

George Ralph Diercksmeier

      George Ralph Diercksmeier of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died 02 May 2012 at the age of 87 years. George
was born on 16 May 1925 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of George and Isabelle Diercksmeier. He graduated from Washington High School. He married Helen Kinner in 1950 and they lived in Milwaukee before locating to West Bend. George served in the United States Army during WWII as an antitank gunner in the “Bloody Bucket” 109th Infantry of the 28th Division. After serving, he worked at Harley Davidson for 38 years before retiring. He spent his last years under the great care of the staff at Cedar Community, where he was very active.

George was survived by wife Helen, three children, Brent, Michael and Mary, four grandchildren, Ashley, Sara, Derek and Gabriella, and one great grandchild Logan. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter Kyleigh Snuggs.

A memorial service for George was held on Monday, 07 May at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive in West Bend.
Visitation was on Monday, 07 May at the funeral home.

Charles J. Ries

      Charles J. Ries, also known as Chuck, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, went home to be with the Lord at his winter residence in Zephyrhills, Florisa, on Friday, 13 April 2012 at the age of 81 years. Chuck was born on 26 June 1930, in San Pedro, California to Kenneth and Harriet (nee Smith) Ries. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and in 1946, they moved to Slinger. He graduated from Slinger High School, Class of 1949. In 1950, Chuck enlisted in the United States Air Force. On 18 July 1951, he married Ethel Schwartz. He spent 1 1/2 years in England and upon his return, Ethel and he lived in Texas until the end of his enlistment and in Mesa, Arizona, until their return to Wisconsin in 1956. Together, Chuck and Ethel were the owners and operators of Ries’s Standard Service in Slinger for over 30 years. Chuck was also a longtime member of St. John’s UCC in Slinger for over 66 years. Chuck’s main love was his family. He enjoyed dancing and spending winters in Florida. He enjoyed traveling with Ethel in their RV for over 50 years, covering all the mainland states including Alaska. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting events.

Chuck was survived by his wife of 60 years, Ethel; daughter Pam (Greg) Jonas; and grandchildren Bradley (fiancée Brittany), Courtney, and Elizabeth Jonas. He was further survived by his brothers Kenneth (Mary Ann) of Centerville, Georgia, and Gerald (Jenni) of Pinellas Park, Flordia; sister-in-law Bev (Bob) Walter of West Bend; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Chuck wass preceded in death by his daughters Sharon Olsen and Debora Ries.

A memorial service for Chuck was held on Friday, 11 May at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive in West Bend where Reverend Jack Freiheit presided. Visitation was on Friday, 11 May at the funeral home. Private interment of ashes took place at Diefenbach Cemetery in Slinger.

Cedric Hugh Barnett

      Cedric Hugh Barnett, also known as Rick, born to Eternal Life on 10 March 2012 at the age of 81 years. He was born on 18 December 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. Beloved husband of Carole (nee Trupke). Loving father of Carrie McCoy, Cathy (Gary) Bothun, Claire (Rick) Witek. Proud grandfather of Callie, Matthew, Garrett, Grant, Amanda, Ricky and Charlie. Funeral Services was on Saturday, 17 March at Christ The Lord Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1650 North Brookfield Road. Visitation was on Saturday at the church. Entombment was in Wisconsin Memorial Park. Rick was an excellent athlete in many sports. He participated in H.S. track and basketball and also played baseball with the American Legion. He received a basketball scholarship to Marquette University. Rick also served for 17 years as State Adjutant for the American Legion. Rick will always be remembered for his integrity and devotion to the Lord, his family and his country.

He served in the United States Military during WW II.

He was survived by his wife Darlene.

Donald was born on 01 August 1935 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the son of Henry and Martha (nee Mickelson) Hasby. He was united in marriage to Doris Tollefson on 26 January 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Donald served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Falls Foundry in Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County Wisconsin and M B W Incorporated in Slinger, Washington County. He was a member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church and the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36. Donald enjoyed painting, working on cars, and loved watching Western movies and wrestling. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Donald was survived by his wife Doris of 54 years; children Terry (Anne) of Hartford, Julie Hasby of Fond du Lac, Ricky (Dawn) of Rubicon, Kristi Hasby of Hartford, and Randy (Debora) Hasby of Hartford; 13 grandchildren Damon, Amanda (Kevin), Nicholas (Leslie), Jeffery (Katey), Keisha, Donald (Rachael), Breanne, Jeremy, Alexander, Jared, Lucas, Mathew, and Leah; four great-grandchildren Trinity, Korbin, Myah, and Isaac; and his siblings Shirley Maurer, Judy Cameron, Joyce Hasby, Gordy Hasby, and Karen Flatten. He was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Cora, Esther, Howard, Eileen, Joseph, and Burton.

A funeral service for Donald was held on Friday, 10 May at the Shimon Funeral Home, where the Reverend Douglas Stowe officiated. The family greeted relatives and friends at the funeral home. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Earl H. Beine

      Earl H. Beine of Slinger, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79 years on Sunday, 06 May 2012. Earl was born on 15 April 1933 in Slinger, the son of Herman and Sarah (nee Tennies) Beine. He was a graduate of Slinger High School with the Class of 1951. One of his most memorable highlights was playing football for the Slinger Owls and scoring the winning touchdown. Earl proudly served in the United States Army from 1953-55. He married the love of his life, Joan (nee Scholtes), on 30 June 1956 at St. Kilian Catholic Church of Hartford. The couple resided and raised their family in Hartford until settling in Slinger in 1990. Earl worked for the Village of Fox Point as a Superintendent from 1955 until his retirement in December 1989. Earl had a green thumb when it came to gardening and grew the most magnificent prize-winning roses. He cherished special moments at his cabin in Harrison Hills with the family, especially hunting and fishing with his son. Earl was also an avid woodworker. He held a special place in his heart for time spent with his granddaughters and great-granddaughter.

Earl was survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Beine, cherished children Keith (Joyce) Beine of West Bend and Karen (Jeff) Meyer of St. Lawrence, adored granddaughters Nicole Beine, Holly and Amy Meyer, special great-granddaughter Lacey Beine, dear sister Dorothy (Norman) Doll of Slinger, sister-in-law Joan Beine of Slinger, and brother-in-law Frank Otto of Hartford. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by brothers Donald and Richard Beine and sister Bernice Otto.

Visitation was on Friday, 11 May at St. Peter Catholic Church in Slinger. Mass of Christian burial was followed at the church. The Reverend Richard Stoffel officiated. Interment was at St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.

Ralph G. Hegy

      Ralph G. Hegy, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 93 years Thursday, 10 May 2012 at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Bend. Ralph was born on 29 March 1919 in Hartford, the son of Peter and Anna (nee Reitzner) Hegy. He was united in marriage to Ethel A. Radloff on 25 July 1942 in Watertown. Ralph was a United States Army Veteran in World War II serving in Italy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, polka dancing and gardening. Ralph loved flying planes and restoring them. He was a member of the Hartford Garden Club for five years where he volunteered to water the plants in downtown Hartford. He also was a volunteer at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum.

Ralph was survived by his five children, Ronald (Ann) Hegy of Hartford, Tom Hegy of Rubicon, Dennis (Lynnell) Hegy, Diane Hegy and Meg La Cross all of Hartford; nine grandchildren Tim (Gina) Hegy, Krista (David) Reif, Seth (Allysa) Hegy, Peter Hegy (Sara Bader), Scott Hegy (fiancée Michele Wilkes), Andrew La Cross (Kristen Heesen), Adam, Alissa and Luke La Cross; great-grandchildren Morgan and Noelle Hegy, Hailey and Lauren Reif, Andrew Hegy; and his sister Helen Buchanan of Arizona. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ethel, sons Keith and Lawrence, brothers Ray and Clarence, sisters Elizabeth Vogelsang, Margaret (Sister Maureen), and infant sister Dorothy Hegy.

A funeral service for Ralph was held on Monday, 14 May 2012 at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford where the Reverend David LaPlante officiated. Family greeted relatives and friends Monday at the funeral home. Interment was at St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery, Hartford, on Tuesday, 15 May.

Walter F. Peters

      Walter F. Peters of West Bend, Washiington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 82 years on Tuesday, 14 May 2012 at the Aurora Medical Center – Washington County. Walter was born on 05 February 1930, in the town of Polk, son of Frank and Clara (nee Ackerman) Peters. At the age of 17, Walter started working at the West Bend Company. On 28 October 1950, he was united in marriage to Mary A. Weiss at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence. He then enlisted in the United States Army. Following his discharge, he returned to West Bend and continued working at the West Bend Company. After more than 40 years of employment, he retired in 1992. Walter enjoyed spending time gardening, tending to his flowers and bird watching. He was a member of the 25 Year Club at the West Bend Company and Holy Angels Parish.

Survivors included his wife Mary; one daughter Linda (Tom) Peter of Lake Havasu, Arizona; one sister Sally Zingsheim of West Bend; seven sisters-in-law Mabel Peters of West Bend, Shirley Peters of West Bend, Sr. Dorothy Weiss of Campbellsport, Helen Mueller of West Bend, Kathy Weiss of Allenton, Dorothy Weiss of Hartford and Gloria Weiss of Campbellsport; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter Christine and six brothers and sisters Alphons, Hillard, Marvin, Sylvester, Dolores Wenninger, and Evelyn Zingsheim.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, 17 May at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial followed on Friday in Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation was at the church on Thursday before the Mass.

Koch, also known as Mickey, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years on Tuesday, 15 May 2012 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Victor was born on 20 April 1930 in the town of Rubicon, son of John and Ruby (Christenson) Koch. He was united in marriage to Donna McMillan on 19 October 1957 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, Dodge County. During the Korean War, Victor served two years in the United States Army, including one tour in Korea. His passion was for his family. Victor also loved everything “outdoors;” farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, making maple syrup and his many dogs. He enjoyed attending auctions where farm equipment and antiques were listed. Victor was a lifelong carpenter, with more than 50 years with the Carpenters Union. He worked on many homes, churches, schools and businesses in the area.

Victor was survived by his loving wife Donna; children, Bruce (Janet), Brad (Sally) and Charlie Koch (special friend Jenn and children); grandchildren Katie, Drew, and Steven; and his brothers and sisters-in-law Melvin Frank, Pat Roedl and Hans (Arlene) Oelke. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Victor was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Roberta, Stanley, Lloyd, Lovell, Bernice, Verna, and Robert.

He will be missed by his neighbors; the Abbott family, Ritter family, Becker family, many co-workers and his dog “Blue.” A celebration of Victor’s life was held on Sunday, 20 May at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford where the Reverend Doug Livingston officiated. The family greeted relatives and friends on Sunday. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford.

Paul Edward Sukalich

M, b. 15 September 1926, d. 14 May 2012
      Paul Edward Sukalich, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 85 years on 14 May 2012 at Lighthouse of West Bend. Paul was born and raised in Milwaukee. He graduated from Boys Tech High School and from Marquette University with a degree in electrical engineering. Paul also served in the United States Army Air Force, attaining the rank of sergeant and the decorations of the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He served in the Philippines, part of the time spent as a cryptographic technician. Paul married Jennie Knapek on 01 May 1948. They had three children: Paul, Patty, and Bob. Paul worked for Cutler Hammer, Schlitz and Badger Meter during his career. He and Jennie lived in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa during their younger years. After retirement, they also traveled yearly to New Port Richey, Florida, before permanently returning to their home on Pike Lake in Hartford. During this time they also enjoyed the company of nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. Paul was involved in his Catholic faith throughout his life as well as his community. He and Jennie were Eucharistic Ministers to shut-ins, hospital patients, and at Mass. Paul participated in the Junior Achievement program and Amateur Radio with the call sign N9XBY. The couple also enjoyed traveling the world, visiting much of Europe and the United States, as well as special trips to China, Egypt, and Rome. He was known for being able to fix just about anything, a passion he shared and inspired in grandson Corey (nee Christopher). Paul also had an insatiable sweet tooth, which coupled perfectly with Jennie’s talent and passion for baking. His favorite sayings that personify him include:

-But for the grace of God, there go I.
-There is no such word as “can’t”
-The glass is half full, not half empty
-Think positive!

He was preceded in death by his father, Anton, mother, Mary, and elder sisters Elizabeth and Helen who both died as children. Paul was survived by his best friend and loving wife of 64 years, Jennie, his beloved children Paul (Sue), Patty, and Bob (Lynelle), his beloved grandchildren Sara, Kim, Maggie, Corey (nee Christopher), Maggie, David, Katie, Stephen, Mark, Mary, and great-grandson Samson. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, 18 May at the Chapel of Saint Therese at the Basilica of Holy Hill in Hubertus. Mass of Christian Burial followed in the Chapel. The Reverend Fred Alexander officiated. Entombment was at Holy Cross Cemetery on Friday, 18 May.

Terry G. Garrison

      Teddy G. Garrison of Zion, Illinois, died at the age of 74 years on Wednesday, 16 May 2012 at St. Luke Medical Center, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, with his family present. Teddy was born 24 March 1938 in Fayette, Alabama, and graduated from Fayette County High School in 1955. He served with the United States Army. Teddy retired from Silgan Container in Germantown, Washington County, after 32 years of employment. He enjoyed walking at the Illinois Beach State Park and attended all of his children's and grandchildren's activities. Teddy is survived by his children, Donna (Michael) Blake of Beach Park, Illinois, Ryan (Jamie) Garrison of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Karen (Jeffrey) Ditgen of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Rick (Theresa) Vydrzal of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and Jon Garrison; six grandchildren; sisters, Johnnie (Dennis) Kimbrell and Bonnie (Ray) Thacker, both of Berry, Alabama; and other family, including Mary Ann Garrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Willie Garrison; sister, Judith Garrison; step-mother, Rushie Garrison; and Dursilla Bellomy and Arlene Garrison. A Visitation was held on Sunday, 20 May at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois. Interment was private for the family.

Raymond Dornacker

      Raymond Dornacker passed away at the age of 66 years on Saturday, 19 May 2012 at home surrounded by loved ones. Rayond was born on 28 April 1946 in the town of Addison, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, son of Theodore and Lorraine (nee Hartman) Dornacker. He
served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968. He then united with Lois (nee Rosenthal) on 19 April 1969 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Addison. Raymond cherished his loving wife and daughter, and his devoted son-in-law. He loved being a “Geezer” to his granddaughters, who put a sparkle in his eye that will never be forgotten. He worked at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac for 40 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of and was actively involved at St. Peters Lutheran Church and served as president of the Church Counsel and a member of the Kohlsville Volunteer Fire Department for 39 years and the last 20 years he served as the fire chief. Also a member of the Washington County Fire Chiefs Association.

Raymond was survived by his wife Lois; daughter Tina (James) Herriges; granddaughters Chelsea Rae and Hailey Leanne; siblings Marilyn Legate, Agnes Legate, Delores Sauer, Janette (Dennis) Cardarelle, Kay Dornacker, and Jerome “Sam” (Luann) Dornacker; in-laws Gerald (Luise), Eugene (Charlotte), David (Doris), Gordon (Pat), Kenneth (Doris) Rosenthal, Wilma (Gerald) Giese, and Darlene (Conrad) Scheunemann; godchildren John Sauer, Greg Legate, Beth Janssen, Jamie Dornacker, Terri Schweppe, Todd Fechter, and Ken Rosenthal, Jr. He was further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Many family members were friends and many friends were as close as family, which includes the Kohlsville Fire Department family. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Richard Dornacker and Valeria Legate; father-in-law Arnold Rosenthal and mother-in-laws Dorothea and Evelyn Rosenthal.

Funeral Services for Raymond were held on Friday, 25 May at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church (4930 Beaver Dam Road in Addison) where Pastor Paul Reede presided. Visitation was held on Thursday, 24 May at Phillip Funeral Home (1420 W. Paradise Drive in West Bend) with the Kohlsville Fire Department walk-thru. There was a visitation on Friday, 25 May at the church. Internment took place on Friday, 25 May 25 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

John P. Van Slyke

      John P. Van Slyke Sr. of Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years at Columbia St. Mary Ozaukee Campus on 21 May 2012 surrounded by his loving family after a short illness. John was born in Cross Plains, Dane County on 10 July 1934, son of Lloyd H. and Ruth Ellen (nee Hodge) Van Slyke. He was united in marriage to Diana (nee Berge) on 14 February 1964, in Madison. John served in the United States Army from 22 September 1959, to 21 September 1961. He was a member of the Cedarburg, Ozaukee County Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288. John enjoyed taking classes at the Cedarburg Senior Center and was a lifetime learner and storyteller. John’s greatest pride and joy was his family and everyone knew how much he loved them. He was a gentle and loving person, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

John was survived by his wife of 48 years, Diana (nee Berge); children, John II (Kristina) and Janice (Rodney) Ross; grandchildren, Emily and Shawn Ross; and Josephine and Marguerite Van Slyke; father-in-law, Harold Berge; and brother-in-law, Robert (Beth) Berge.

A family tribute to John was held at the Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory in Grafton on Friday, 25 May.

Dr. Edger Gustav Wirth

M, b. 30 August 1923, d. 22 May 2012
      Dr. Edgar Gustav Wirth Jr. went to be with the Lord peacefully at the age of 88 years at home on Tuesday, 22 May 2012. He was survived by his wife, Sandy; five children, Pamela (Rev. Randolf) Frank, Steven (Victoria) Wirth, Dr. Scott Wirth, Susan (Stephen) Leonardelli and Craig Wirth; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was born on 30 August 1923 and grew up in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. Edgar graduated from Cedarburg High School and the Marquette University School of Dentistry. He served his country in World War II as a dentist in the United States Navy at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois. Dr. Wirth had a dental practice in Grafton for 38 years. After his retirement, his son, Dr. Scott Wirth, continued the practice. Dr. Wirth was on the board of directors of the Cedarburg State Bank. In his retirement years he spent his winters at his home in Naples, Flordia, and his summers at his lake home in Upper Michigan.

Private services with military honors were held.

Richard J. Bielinski

      Richard J. Bielinski of Omro and Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away at the age of 84 years on Monday, 21 May 2012, due to injuries from an automobile accident. Richard was born on 05 July 1927 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Country, Wisconsin, USA, son of Alex and Veronica (nee Chucka) Bielinski. He married Dorothy A. Edwards on 25 November 1948. Dorothy preceded him in death on 09 August 1987.

Richard was a hard working man who loved his family. You could always find him in his workshop fixing something, relaxing on his beloved "Queen Bie" houseboat, or playing a game of gin rummy with friends. He was a jack-of-all-trades and did everything from beekeeping and running a cafe with his brother, Joe, to being a fix-it man, managing movie theatres, and selling cars and advertising. He was proud of being named the salesman of the decade (1960s) by National Merchandising Company of Green Bay. In 1972 he and his wife, Dorothy, founded Creative Marketing of America, the famous yellow and black phone book covers. He enjoyed the challenge of making a sale and meeting new clients, most of whom became friends. He could sell an icebox to an Eskimo. After his "retirement" to Weslaco, Texas, he took up painting, pottery, and was always the star of their annual musical productions. Richard was proudest of his role as Tevya in Fiddler on the Roof. He was a Navy WWII veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus-West Bend Council 4th degree, and past president of the Slinger-Allenton Rotary Club.

Richard was survived by three children, Joseph (Ann) Bielinski of Appleton, Kathleen (Samuel) Standfield of Duluth, Minnesota, Patricia (Mark) Hauser, of Jackson, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Keith) Savage of Verona, Alex (special friend Megan Krug) Bielinski of Chicago, Illinois, Laura (special friend Jeremy Yenser) Bielinski of Watertown, Wisconsin, Jason (Christy) Standfield of Tacoma, Washington, Amanda Standfield of Tacoma, Jennifer (Ryan) Kunz of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and Krista (Kevin) Dyreson of Brookfield; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Standfield, Andrew Standfield, Aiden Standfield and baby-to-be Kunz; four sisters, Frances Laskowski, Sr. Margaret Mary Bielinski, O.S.B., Marge Van Ryzin, and Mary Wyatt; a sister-inlaw, Mary Ann Bielinski, and his special nephew, John Bielinski; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Joseph, and George.
A Memorial Mass in remembrance of Richard was held on Wednesday, 30 May at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 South 7th Avenue, West Bend. Visitation was at the church. A private burial of Richard’s cremated remains was at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery.

The family wishes to give special thanks to all of the good Samaritans who helped at the accident scene, the first responders, the Winnebago County Sheriff and Oshkosh police, the County Coroner, and all of the caring people with ThedaStar and Theda Clark, and Aurora Hospital.

Wayne F. Oswald

M, b. 13 July 1946, d. 24 May 2012
      Wayne F. Oswald passed away at the age of 65 years on Thursday, 24 May 2012. Wayne was born on 13 July 1946 in Milwaukee, son of Lawrence and Mildred (nee Strothenke) Oswald. After high school, Wayne enlisted and served in the United States Army. He went on to marry Diane Kirchen on 10 October 1970. Wayne started his work career at General Electric in Milwaukee where he dedicated over 10 years of service. After General Electric, Wayne worked for Force Outboards for a several years. He went on to work for Hampel in Germantown for almost the next 15 years and retired in 2008. He continued working after retirement at Menards as a morning stocker for over three years. Wayne was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his family and especially taking trips up to Door County.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane; daughter Jodi (Mark) Jensen; son Steven (Stephenie Smith) Oswald; grandson Michael Sonnen; and granddaughter Hilton Oswald. He is further survived by his sister Bonnie (John) Mussatti, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Mildred.

A Memorial Service for Wayne was on Friday, 01 June 2012 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive in West Bend. Gathering was on Friday, 01 June 1 at the funeral home.

Steven Wayne Jaschob

      Steven Wayne Jaschob of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 65 years surrounded by his family on Saturday, 26 May 2012 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital due to complications from a stroke he suffered on 20 May. Steven was born in Sheboygan, Sheboygan County on 29 March 1947, son of Ralph and Margaret (Spetta) Jaschob. He graduated from West Bend High School in 1965. Steven worked at Mercury Marine until his retirement in November 2009. He also served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. Steven married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Adele Monday, on 07 May 1966.

Steven was survived by his wife and four children: Charlene Ann Jaschob of Jefferson, Deborah Jean Kaetterhenry of Eden, Tammy Jo Prinz of West Bend and Shawn Michael (Holly Menke) Jaschob of Fond du Lac. He was further survived by his 12 wonderful grandchildren: Amy Jaschob, Ryne Prinz, Zaccaria Jaschob, Nathaniel Tennies, Alyssa Prinz, Andrew Jaschob, Bryce Prinz, Tobias Jaschob, Claire Jaschob, Mikaela Jaschob, Montana Prinz, and Elijah Jaschob and also by his dog, Buddy. Steven was also survived by his sisters Darleen (George) Diana of Menasha and Sandy (Dennis) Dunek of Sparta and three brother-in-laws: Norbert (Mary Jo) Monday of West Bend, Kenneth Monday of Jackson, and Michael Monday of Las Vegas and three sister-in-laws: Mary Ann Monday of Las Vegas, Cathy Matthiae of Iron Ridge, and Rosie Spartz of West Bend. Steve was godfather to Timothy Diana, Amy Dunek and Ryne Prinz. He was further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Per Steve’s wishes, the family had a private memorial service. They also honoring him with a celebration of his life at a later date.

Lewis E. Gatzke

      Lewis E. Gatzke passed away at the age of 75 years on Tuesday, 29 May 2012 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee County, Wisconin, USA. He was born on 25 July 1936, son of Walter and Lorinda (nee Remmel) Gatzke. After school, he worked at Regal Ware until serving in the United States Army from 1957-1960. Upon his return, he married Evelyn (nee Lavrenz) on 28 May 1960. Lewis finished his career as an Operations Manager at Regal Ware. He enjoyed watching and playing sports like golf, bowling, darts, horseshoes, and ping pong. He also enjoyed playing cards, going fishing, and gambling. Above all, he loved spending time with family and especially his grandkids.

He was survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Pamela Sengpiel of Kewaskum, Penny (Rodney) Kutz of Campbellsport, Peggy (Scott) Spangenberg of Random Lake, Lisa (Dan) Kunath of Hartford; eight grandchildren, Danielle (Mark) Christian, Derik (Alaina) Gatzke, Jessica (Aaron) Miller, Bryant Sengpiel, Brandon Baumhardt, Melanie Zellner, Samantha Maki, Russ Maki III; great-grandchildren, Mayson Larson and Leila Baumhardt; great-great-grandchildren, Caden and Hailey Christian; brothers, Lloyd (Joyce) Gatzke, and Walter Gatzke Jr; and in-laws, Joyce (James) Clark, Raymond (friend Kathy) Lavrenz, Bernice (Kenneth) Bastian, Clayton (Sandy) Lavrenz, Darwin (Donna) Lavrenz, Spencer Lavrenz, and Beatrice Wendtz. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-inlaw, Gertrude and Gustav Lavrenz; and brothers-inlaw, Donald (Viola), Delbert and Kenneth Lavrenz.

The funeral service was held on Sunday, 03 June at Peace United Church of Christ (343 First Street, Kewaskum, Washington County 53040) where the Reverend Eric Kirkegaard presided. The visitation was held at the church on Sunday, 03 June. Interment took place at Auburn Cemetery (County Road Y, 1 mile east of Campbellsport) on Monday, 04 June.
