Clayton L. Ashworth

      Clayton L. Ashworth of Sheboygan, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Ashippun, passed away at the age of 91 years on Saturday, 03 February 2007. Clayton was born on 02 August 1915 in New Jersey, son of Ernest and Irene (nee Biggs) Ashworth. He married Elizabeth Wieand on 08 April 1944 in New Jersey. Clayton served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Ashippun. Clayton was a member of Hartford Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post 19.

He was survivors by his wife, Elizabeth of 62 years; his children, Jane (Lawrence) Lynch of Sheboygan Falls, Dr. Rebecca (Stewart McNeil) Ashworth of Eustis, Florida and Clayton Lee (Stella Faye) Ashworth of Rock Springs, Georgia; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Clayton was preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Dorothy Hildebrant, Earl, Ernest Jr. and Parker Ashworth; his grandson, Jared Lee Ashworth; and by one great-grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, 07 February at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Ashippun. Interment was in St. Paul Church Cemetery.

Craig Hammon Arnold

M, b. 29 April 1932, d. 03 February 2007
      Funeral services were held on Wednesday, 07 February 2007 at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Craig Hammond Arnold. Craig died at Columbia St. Mary Hospital in Mequon at the age of 74 years on Saturday, 03 February 2007. Visitation took place at the church on Wednesday. Reverend Randolph Raasch officiatec the funeral service. Interment took place at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg.

Craig was born in Milwaukee on 29 April 1932, son of William J. and Irene M. (nee Hammond) Arnold. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Craig married Martha Cauthen on 29 October 1966 in Decatur, Georgia. He worked for the Amoco Company for over 30 years before he retired in 1987. Craig and Martha wintered in Florida after his retirement. He was a member of the Cedarburg Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288 and was also a member of the Elks Club #46 for many years. An avid sportsman and sports fan, Craig enjoyed going to the Cedarburg Mercs games, watching all sports and truly loved golfing. He was especially proud of his hole-in-one from the #6 hole at the Squire’s Golf Club in Port Washington. Craig was fond of the stock market and reading his USA Today on a daily basis, but his true love was his wife Martha.

Craig was survived by his wife Martha Arnold of Cedarburg. He was further survived by other relatives and many special friends. Craig was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Claire Monahan.

Ronald R. McBride

M, b. circa 1951, d. 04 February 2007
      Ronald R. McBride, also know as Dice and Ron, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 56 years, following a four-year battle with cancer, on 04 February 2007. Ron served with the United States Army during Vietnam. He was an employee of Harley-Davidson and a long-time HOG member.

Ronald was the loving husband of Cheryl Vegter for 36 years; special dad of Heather (Paul) Arnsden and Erik McBride; best buddy and grandpa of Justin; beloved son of Russell and Geraldine McBride; dear brother of Sandra (Dale) Larsen, Dennis and Gary; son-in-law of Gerald and Betty Vegter; and brother-in-law of Karen (Richard) Luebke. He was also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was on Thursday, 08 February 2007 at the Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 1875 North Calhoun Road in Brookfield, Waukesa County where the funeral service followed.

Dr. David A. Sampe

M, b. 12 February 1940, d. 04 February 2007
      Dr. David A. Sampe of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Mequon and Thiensville, Ozaukee County, passed away peacefully at the age of 66 years on Sunday, 04 February 2007. A memorial service in honor of David was held on 07 February at the Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home in Mequon where Reverend Del Sailer officiated. Family greeted friends and relatives at the funeral home prior to the service.

Dr. Samped was born on 12 February 1940 in Branch, Manitowoc County, son of Fredrick and Enanda Sampe. On 13 June 1964, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Beaton. After attending college and serving in the United States Navy for four years during the Vietnam War, David and his family moved to Mequon where he started his private dental practice. Dr. Sampe was a graduate of the Marquette University School of Dentistry and was a practicing dentist in Mequon for 34 years. He was active in local, state and national dental associations and was a past president of the Wisconsin Dental Association, from whom he earned a lifetime achievement award. Furthermore, he was a member of the American and International Colleges of Dentists, and he established the David A. Sampe Most Improved Dental Student award at Marquette University. Dr. Sampe was active in his community with the Mequon-Thiensville Optimists and Jaycees. He was chairman of the first Mequon-Thiensville’s Fourth of July parade. One of his greatest joys was gardening and he made beautiful floral arrangements for friends and family. He also enjoyed woodworking, model trains, photography and entertaining at his home on Silver Lake.

Dr. Sampe was survived by his beloved wife Mary Ellen; his loving children Pamela and David; his daughter-in-law Aliisa; and his cherished grandchildren Madison, Kieran and Sylvia. Also surviving him are his siblings William (Lee Ann), Raymond, Beatrice (Carl) Ebert, Fredrick; and twin sister Dorothy (Dean) Christianson. He wass further survived by many special nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Robert R. Ludkey

      A memorial service was held on 15 February 2007 for Robert R. Ludkey of Nashotah, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA, at St. John Lutheran Church, W334 N6990 Stone Band Road, Oconomowoc. Robert entered eternal life on Friday, 09 February 2007 while at Angel’s Grace Hospice. Reverend M. Richard Druckrey officiated the memorial service and friends visited after the service. The burial took place at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.

Robert was born on 09 October 1927 in Wausau, Marathon County, son of Richard and Myrtle (nee Eagan) Ludkey. On 31 May 1952, he was united in marriage to Audrey Klapel in Edgar. Robert was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Stone Bank. He worked as a barber in Thiensville and Mequon for 50 years. A military veteran, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. Robert was a member of the Mequon Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post 457 and the Mequon Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf.

Robert was survived by his wife Audrey; his children Wayne (Heidi) Ludkey of Mesa, Arizona, Pam (John) D’Amour of Baraboo, Steven Ludkey of West Bend and Lynn (James) Peterman of Hartland; and his brother John (Marcie) Ludkey of Wausau. He was further survived by seven grandchildren.

Michael S. Manchester

M, b. 17 January 1952, d. 09 February 2007
      Michael S. Manchester of the town of Mayville, Dodge County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 55 years on Friday, 09 February 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. Michael was born on 17 January 1952 in Milwaukee, son of Eugene and Frieda (nee David) Manchester. On 30 January 1972, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jean E. Mikus in Port Washington. As a teenager, the family moved to Port Washington. After graduating from Port Washington High School in 1971, Michael entered the United States Army, serving in Germany. Following his discharge in June, 1973, he returned to Port Washington and began working for Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac. In the late 1970s, the family moved to Cedar Grove, where they lived for five years before settling in Kewaskum for 20 years. For the past three years, Michael and Jean have lived in the town of Mayville. In addition to enjoying sports, Michael spent time hunting, fishing and traveling with his family. He was a devoted family man who will be deeply missed by his wife, whom he had oiginally met when he was 14 years old, their children and grandchildren and many dear friends.

He was a beloved husband of Jean; loving father of Joshua Michael and Laura (Gary) Womack, both of Milwaukee, and the proud granddad of Michael and Solomon. He was further survived by his twin brother, David of West Bend, many other dear family and friends. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan; a brother, Eugene Jr; his father-in-law, Ernest Mikus; and a sister-in-law, Lori Mikus. A private family services was held.

Eldred L. Johnson

M, b. 13 October 1924, d. 13 February 2007
      Eldred L. Johnson, also known as Ellie, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 82 years on Tuesday, 13 February 2007 at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk. Eldred was born in Green Bay, Brown County on 13 October 1924, son of Chester and Louise (nee Vander Wegen) Johnson. He graduated from West Green Bay High School in 1943. Following his high school graduation, Ellie enlisted in the United States Army Air Force and served two years as a maintenance technician in the Pacific Theater during World War II . Ellie was united in marriage to Billie Anderson on 10 May 1947 at St. Patrick Church in Green Bay. Billie preceded Eldred in death on 02 June 2000. He was employed as a district sales manager for Metropolitan Life until his retirement. During his retirement, Ellie kept himself busy by working part time in security for Regal Ware in Kewaskum and later for the Paradise Mall in West Bend. He also did the bookkeeping at Pruett’s Floor Coving. He loved riding his motorcycle, but his true passion was bowling. He served as president and treasurer of several bowling leagues at Wieland over the years. Ellie’s faith was important to him, and it was there he found comfort following the death of his wife Billie. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend.

Eldred was survived his four loving children, Gregg (Jan) Johnson of Granger, Indiana, Erin (John) Voss of Ashburn, Virginia, Jeff (Kendra) John-son of Sheboygan and Kevin (Carrie) Johnson of Germantown; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was further survived by his brother, Ralph Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister, Erin Peterson of Green Bay; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Barden of Madison.
Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents and his brother, Doug Johnson.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, 17 February at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend where Father Jerry Brittain was celebrant. Visitation with the family was at the church on Saturday.

Bernard A. Hauser

      Bernard A. Hauser, also known as Berie, of Jackson, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 79 years on 15 February 2007 at the Clement Veterans Administration Hospital in Milwaukee. Bernard was born in Rubicon, Dodge County on 15 September 1927, son of Bernard and Anna (nee Christ) Hauser. He married Elaine E. Kempken on 17 June 1950 in Mapleton, Waukesha County. Bernie served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he owned and operated Bernie’s Market in Jackson from 1952 until retirement in 1969. He was a charter member of the Jackson Area Business Association and a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend. Bernie enjoyed playing baseball on the Rubicon baseball team and is a member of the Rock River Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Fr Caspar Rehrl Council #1964, Knights of Columbus and the Jackson Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 468.

Bernard was survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine and five children and their families, Joan (Daniel) Stoffel of Kewaskum and their children: Erin (fiance Chris) and Carrie, Daniel (Lori) of Bolingbrook, Illinois and their children: Meagan, Alyssa, Sarah, Tom and Emily; Donald (Sherri) of West Bend and their children: Amanda and Jon; David (Mary) of Thousand Oaks, California and their children: Michael, Matthew, Josh and Joclyn (Brian) Hagenow of Lisbon and their children: Brandon, Samantha and Natalie. Bernie was further survived by two sisters, Camille Walker of Wauwatosa and Marie Werner of Slinger, and three sister-in-laws: Carol (Maynard) Eickoff of Genesee Depot, Adeline Kempken of Oconomowoc and Freida Hauser of Jackson; a brother-in-law Paul Casey of Waukesha; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Bernie was preceded in death by three sisters, Sister Margaret, Sister Bernadette and Anna, as well as three brothers, Harold, Edward and Raymond.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, 20 February 2007 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend where Reverend Jeffrey Haines presided. Burial was Wednesday in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation wase on Tuesday at the church.

Norbert Brackmann

M, b. 22 June 1938, d. 15 February 2007
      A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Norbert Brackmann, also know as Norb, of Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, on 10 February at Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Mequon. Norbert passed away at his residence in the early morning hours at the age of 68 years on Thursday, 15 February 2007. Reverend Peter Berger celebrated the Mass. The family received visitors at the church prior to the funeral Mass. Entombment took place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Port Washington.

Norbert was born in Milwaukee on 22 June 1938, son of Joseph and Anna (nee Adamowski) Brackmann. After high school, he entered into service with the United Stares Coast Guard. After his service, he was united in marriage to Judith M. Brahm on 20 August 1960 at St. John DeNepomuc Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Wauwatosa and started their family. In 1973, they moved to Mequon. Norbert worked as a machinist at Kearney & Trecker in Milwaukee. He later advanced to purchasing agent. Norbert also worked at Trak International in Port Washington and recently had been a caretaker at the Art Kroos lake estate. Norbert enjoyed hunting and fishing and had enjoyed being a member of the Ozaukee Fish & Game Club for many years. His family remembers him as a nice, easy-going, lovable man and a humble person. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his grandchildren.

Norbert was survived by his sons Paul of Mequon and Joseph (Sherry) of West Bend; his grandchildren Krystal and Joey Brackmann of West Bend; his sister, Sister Anne Brackmann of the Carmelite Monastery of Terre Haute, Indiana; his mother-in-law Bessie Brahm of Fredonia; and his sister-in-law Joanne Wetor of Grafton. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith and his parents.

Curtis B. Smith

      A memorial service was held on Tuesday, 20 February 2007 for Curtis B. Smith at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 6031 West Chapel Hill Road in Mequon. Curtis died at the age of 78 years at the Lasata Care Center on Wednesday, 14 February 2007. Reverend John Gable conducted the memorial service. Family received friends from at the church, prior to the service. A second service in memory of Curtis was held Wednesday morning, 21 February at the First Presbyterian Church, 121 West Florence in Cambria. Interment took place at the Cambria Cemetery.

Curtis was born on 07 November 1928 in Fall River, Pierce County, son of Leonard S. and Lessie M. Smith. On 08 October 1950, Curtis married Eleanor A. Smith in Cambria. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Curt served his country during the Korean Conflict as a United States Marine. He went on to work in the insurance industry for over 45 years and became president of Smith & Company Life Insurance. Curt was a longtime member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Curtis was survived by his wife Eleanor A. Smith of Cedarburg; children David C. (Cathy) Smith of Cedarburg, Jean M. Smith of Cedarburg and Carol A. (Mark) Meske of Lisbon; grandchildren Sean Smith of Milwaukee, Kevin Smith of Milwaukee, Lori Meske of Lisbon and Kelsey Meske of Lisbon; and brother Stuart (Lois) Smith of Columbus. He was further survived by one niece, three nephews, other relatives and friends.

George Carl Edwin Wendt

M, b. 06 July 1916, d. 17 February 2007
      George Carl Edwin Wendt, of West Bend, Washington Couny, Wisconsin, USA, entered into eternal peace at the age of 90 years on Saturday, 17 February 2007. George was born in Watertown, Jefferson County on 16 July 1916, son of Otto August and Ruth Clara (nee Schulz) Wendt, where he was also raised. After graduating from Watertown High School in 1936, George entered the National Guard, and was able to travel throughout the United States while serving his country. He became a dedicated employee of The West Bend Company for 38 years, retiring in 1981. In 1943, he married Florence Emma Watson, who preceded him in death. George remarried twice in his lifetime, once in 1963 to Dawn Eda and the second time in 1987 to Mary Harriet. His favorite pastimes were gardening, Christmas tree farming, woodworking and repairing televisions. George was a member of the 25-Year Club at The West Bend Company. He was also a member of Taxpayers Against Airport Growth/Watershed Watchers and the Wisconsin Wetlands Association. He faithfully attended each one his high school class reunions.

George was survived by his nine cherished children, Bette Renae Pouros of Kewaskum, Marlene Elaine Wendt of Milwaukee, Dennis Robert Wendt of West Bend, GeorgeAnn (Rick) Wiedmeyer of Adell, George Jr. (Melissa) Wendt of Kewaskum, CarlEda LaScelle of West Bend, Carl (Karen) Wendt of Lomira, Dawn (John) Mineau of West Bend and Kenneth Wendt of Jackson; his treasured grandchildren, Desmond, Andrew, Eric, Kattarina, Alyssa, Jade, Edwin, Justin, Alexander, Jake, Kara, AudreyAnna, AmberLynn and Tony; his step-grandchildren, Angie, Greta, Matthew, Randi, Reagan, Heather and Nicole; one sister, Sylvia Staude of Watertown; and two ex-wives, Dawn Eda and Mary Harriet.
He was also be missed by his nieces, nephews, other special relatives and many dear friends. George was greeted at the gates of heaven by his parents; his wife, Florence Emma; three brothers, Otto, Robert and Fred; a sister, Lucille; a son, Edwin; and a granddaughter, Ciara.

A funeral service in honor of George was held on Friday, 23 February at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive in West Bend. Visitation with family and friends was held at the funeral home on Friday. Interment took place in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown on Saturday.

Melvin H. Groth

      Marvin H. Groth, 69, of Mayville, Dodge County, Wisconsin, USA, died on Monday, 19 February 2007 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Marvin was born on 26 December 1937 in West Bend, Washington County, son of Edgar and Julia (nee Frommholz) Groth. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Jackson. Marvin graduated in 1955 from West Bend High School. On 06 June 1959, Marvin married Lois Keup at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church) in hte town of Theresa. He was employed by the West Bend Company until he joined his father in farming. In 1965, Marvin purchased a farm in the town of Herman where he lived up until his death. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church), serving in various positions on the church council. Marvin served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Tarawa in 1956 and 1957. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and traveling with his wife throughout the state and to his lake cottage in northern Wisconsin.

Marvin was survived by his wife, Lois; four children, Cheryl (Jeff) Giese of Wisconsin Dells, David (Arlesse) Groth of Mayville, John (Debra) Groth of Campbellsport and Paul (Sara) Groth of Brillion; grandchildren, Jeremy (Megan) Giese, Janel Giese, Megan, Katie and Kari Groth, Corin, Nicholas and Adam Groth and Jacob and Julia Groth; sisters and brothers, Robert (Lois) Groth and Marilyn (Eldred) Gierach, both of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Martin (Gertrude) Keup of Theresa; a sister-in-law, Virginia (Herman) Laabs of Mesa, Arizona; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents.

Funeral service was held on Friday, 23 February at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church) in the town of Theresa. Reverend Mark Berlin officianted. Burial was in Hochheim Cemetery, town of Herman. Visitation was on Thursday at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville, and also on Friday at the church.

Harold Carl Zimmerman

      Harold Carl Zimmerman of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 83 years on Tuesday, 20 February 2007, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. Harold was born on 09 August 1923 in West Bend, son of Otto and Anna (nee Plonsky) Zimmerman. He served his country during World War II by enlisting in the United States Army. After the war, Harold was united in marriage to Pearl Schoenbeck on 16 July 1949 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on Pleasant Valley Road. He was employed by the West Bend Company for many years where he worked in the maintenance department. Harold was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend.
He was an avid Chicago Bear’s fan and his favorite pastime was serving as an umpire for the West Bend Softball Association.

Harold was survived by his loving wife, Pearl; a daughter, Debbie (John) Butschlick of West Bend; two grandchildren, Renee (Scott) Altendorf of West Bend and Jamie (Mandy) Butschlick of Jackson; a great-grandson, Quentin Butschlick of Jackson; and great-grandbaby Altendorf of West Bend. He was further survived by a sister-in-law, Marlay Zimmerman of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Donald (Pearl) Schoenbeck of West Bend; and many other nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Bonnie Lee; three sisters; and three brothers.

A memorial service in honor of Harold’s life was held on Thursday, 22 February at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend. Reverend George Mumm officiated. Burial took place in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery on Thursday. A visitation with the family was held Thursday at the church.

Robert B. Cameron

M, b. 19 October 1935, d. 12 February 2007
      Robert B. Cameron of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 71 years on Monday, 12 February 2007 at Columbia St. Mary Hospital in Milwaukee. A memorial service was held at a later date that summer in Pentwater, Michigan. Robert’s cremated remains were interred in Pentwater Cemetery.

Robert was born on 19 October 1935 in Fountain, Michigan, son of Robert G. and Eileen (nee Brunke) Cameron. He served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division for two years. Robert moved to Wisconsin in 1958 to attend the Layton Art School in Milwaukee. On 23 April 1960 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Cope in Janesville. Robert was employed at A.O. Smith / Tower Automotive for 30 years, retiring in January 1999. He was an avid sports fan and he especially enjoyed football, basketball and a good boxing match. He loved dogs and always had a dog in the family. He also enjoyed cooking. Robert was very interested in his Scottish heritage. He enjoyed reading and studying about Scotland as well as researching his family’s history.

Robert was survived by his wife Carolyn; his children Robert S. Orrin Koehn

      Funeral services were held for Orrin Koehn of Conover, Vilas County, Wisconsin, USA, on 27 February 2007 at the Pioneer Lake Lutheran Church in Conover. Orrin died Saturday, 17 February 2007 at the Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Home in Phelps. Visitation was held on Tuesday at the church. Orrin was born on 16 November 1925 in Cedarburg, son of Louis and Louise Koehn. On 02 August 1949, Orrin married Dorothy Asp in Port Washington. He worked and retired from Russell T. Gilman in Grafton after many years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and doing yardwork. Orrin served in the United States Army during World War II under General Patton in the Third Army. He was a member of the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355.

Orrin was survived by his wife of 57 years Dorothy of Conover; his son Tom (Kathy) of Denver, Colorado; his sister Helen Larson of Cedarburg; and his grandchildren Jeffery and Kimberly. He is further survived by two great-grandchildren. Orrin was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Louise; his brother Harold; and his sister-in-law Violet.

Norbert A. Bingen

M, b. 27 June 1927, d. 21 February 2007
      Norbert A. Bingen entered into eternal peace at the age of 79 years on Wednesday, 21 Febuary 2007 at The Kathy Hospice, town of Polk. Norbert was born on 27 June 1927 in Allenton, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, son of John and Katherine (nee Piersch) Bingen. After graduating from West Bend High School in 1944, he served in the United States Army and was then employed by the Gehl Company. On 10 July 1948, Norbert married Alice Bodden. In 1953, they moved to Allenton to farm and raise their family. Norbert was a very active member of Resurrection Catholic Church (formerly Sacred Heart Parish), where he served as a lector, reader, usher and trustee for many years. He valued his role as a distributor of Holy Communion to the homebound. Norbert served on the board of directors and as president of the Washington County Farm Bureau. He also served on the advisory board for UW Extension Agriculture Education in Washington County and on the Board of Directors of Farmers Inc. of Allenton. Norbert enjoyed sports as a participant, especially baseball, and as a spectator, particularly watching his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sheepshead player and learned to enjoy ballroom dancing. He became quite accomplished and even taught dance classes. After retirement, Norbert found more time to travel, garden with Alice, and build furniture and birdhouses. Most of all, he cherished the additional quality time he spent with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by Alice, his best friend and loving wife of 58 years who gave endless love and support.

Norbert was survivors by his children, Steve (Michelle), Jane (Jerry) Pflughoeft, Elaine (Dave) Stra-chota, John (Nancy) and Bob (Kelly); and his sisters, Veronica Yogerst and Virginia Weyer. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andy (Amber), Dayna, Samantha, Ryan, Zack, Chelsea and Jillian Bingen, Matt and Adam Strachota, and step-grandchildren, Mike (Aimee) and David (Kristin) Pflughoeft. He has many surviving nieces and nephews, friends and relatives. His surviving in-laws are, Eleanor Miller, Leo (Delores) Bodden, Esther (Tony) Kirsch, Flora (Dick) Johnston, Loretta Sauer, Al (Ann) Bodden and Norma Bodden. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo (Dorothy), Raymond, Clarence and Wilmer; a sister, Marie Konrath; brothers-in-law, Andy Yogerst, Jim Weyer, Tony Konrath, Lee Miller, Peter (Helen) Bodden, Bernard Bodden and Wally Sauer; a nephew, Jim Weyer; and a niece and godchild, Wendy Bodden.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of Norbert was held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, 215 Main St., Allenton, with Father Rick Stoffel presiding. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends was held at the church on Saturday.

Ralph W. Peters

      Ralph W. Peters went home peacefully in his sleep to be with the Lord at the age of 74 years on Friday, 23 February 2007. Ralph was born in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, on 23 February 1933, son of Alexius and Veronica (nee Schladweiler) Peters. He was raised on the family farm. Ralph served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Ralph was a small engine repairman at Tri Par for many years, and retired from Lorence Manufacturing in Newburg. His favorite pastimes included snowmobiling, fishing and going out to dinner with his fiancé.

Ralph was survived by his fiance and best friend, Jean Beimborn of West Bend; seven siblings, Gerald (Bethana) Peters of Rubicon, Donna (Glen) Becker of Cedarburg, Marietta (Richard) Guenther of Freeport, Iliinois, and Beatrice (Robert) Boldt, Loretta Justman, Alan (Rita) Peters and Leon (Cynthia) Peters, all of West Bend; and two sisters-in-law, Eleanore and Christine Peters. He was further survived by many nieces, nephews, other special relatives and many dear friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon and Linus; and his brother-in-law, Henry Justman.

A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, 28 February at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg, where Father Guy Gurath officiated. Interment took place in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. Visitation with family and friends was held on at the church on Wednesday.

Richard David Thompson

      Richard David Thompson died at the age of 95 years on Friday, 06 July 2012. He was the husband of Bernice Meyer. Dear father of Robert (Mary) Thompson and Linda (Tom) Henrich. Grandfather of Pamela Porch, Jeffrey Thompson, Jennifer (Tim) Miller and Daniel (Jennifer) Marcussen. Great-grandfather of 4 great-grandchildren. Also survived by other relatives and friends. Visitation was on Friday, 13 July at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 1621 Second Avenue in Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. Interment was at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was an United States Army veteran having served in WWII. He was a member of the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355 and the Local Moose Lodge.

      John R. Herzer joined his beloved wife Lorraine Ochowicz at the age of 88 years on Monday, 02 July 2012. He was the father of Terry Herzer and Mark (Kim) Herzer. Proud grandfather of Jamie (Steve) Biggins, Jason and Jonathan Herzer and great-grandfather of Wyatt James Biggins and Alexander Mark Biggins. He was further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors. John proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Renerend Ronald E. Riemer

      Reverend Ronald E. Riemer of Coloma, Waushara County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years in the presence of family on Saturday, 14 July 2012 at Wild Rose Hospital. Reverend Riemer was born on 26 March 1935 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of Frank and Bertha (King) Riemer. Pastor Ron grew up in Milwaukee and has lived in Glendale, Cedarburg, Colgate, Germantown, West Bend, and Coloma, as well as McMinnville, Tennessee and Marion, Ohio. He was a sergeant in the United State Marine Corps serving from 1953-1957. He married Phyllis Dreier on 13 March 1957, in Waukegan, Illinois. Pastor Ron served as pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield and was a former Glendale Police Officer, Quality Control Engineer and Manager for Oster Manufacturing Plant, Superintendent for Kelley Company, Vice President of Manufacturing at Pillar Corporation, President of Lift Rite and RER Enterprises Incorporated. He was an avid sportsman always looking forward to "Deer Camp" with his brother, son and son in laws. Pastor Ron loved and enjoyed serving his God, country and family, firmly believing "that all things happen for the good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

He was survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis; four daughters, Debbie (Lloyd) Keesler, Viroqua, Lori (George) Scheidt, West Bend, Sharon Rusch, Appleton and Carole (Layne) Bendekovich, Salt Lake City, Utah; one son, Scott (Maureen), Hales Corners; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Frank (Edna), Germantown and Duane (Linda), Adel; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded to his heavenly home by his parents and sister, Arlene (Jerry) Sanborn, Jackson. A funeral service for Pastor Ron was held on Thursday, 19 July at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield. Inurnment took place at a later date at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield. A visitation was held on Thursday at the church.

Daniel A. Corbell

      Daniel A. Corbell, also known as “Dan the meat man”, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, entered the Heavenly Gates at the age of 69 years on Tuesday, 03 July 2012. Dan was a meat cutter for over 52 years. He was an all-around supporter of Oconomowoc athletics, especially their wrestling club. Dan was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy with three tours to Vietnam and was a member of the West Bend Fred A. Schaefer Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1393.

Dan was the most loving, devoted, and caring husband to Judy (nee Lembck) for almost nine years. He was the loving father of Jeffrey and Christopher (Kirsten); and grandfather to Adriana. “Papa” was like a dad to Fred (Karen) Akeson and his precious granddaughters, Harmony, Savannah, and Paulina. They said he was awesome and “Papa, Papa, Papa” was heard everywhere. Daniel was further survived by brothers, John, Bill, and Joe of Oregon; sisters, Michaelee of Oregon and Charlene of California; his mother-in-law, Esther Lembck; and many other family and friends. Dan was preceded in death by his mother, father and twin brother.

Funeral services in honor of Dan was held on Monday, 09 July at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. Visitation was at the funeral home on Monday.

      Earl R. Schroeder of Legend Lake, Menominee County, Wisconsin, UISA, formerly of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County passed away at the age of 96 years on Wednesday, 19 December 2012 at Maple Lane Health Care Center in Shawano. Earl was born on 07 February 1916 in Hartford, Washington County, son of August H. and Rose (nee Menzel) Schroeder. Beloved husband of Dorothy Rilling. United States Army veteran of World War II. Earl was a former employee of the Geiser Potato Chip Company and retired machinist of the Kroening Company.

Earl was survived by his children, Gary (Judy) Schroeder of Shawano and Rosie (Larry) Lemke of Marion, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Cheryl (Tom) Dasaw; Robert Schroeder; Timothy Schroeder; Sue Bossell and Connie (Charlie) Garcia; six great-grandchildren; and five great - great - grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Rose, and by five sisters, Audrey Czemierys, Marie Juech, Margaret Zinke, Gladys Barkhausen and Ruth Schultz.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, 22 December at the Family Center of Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, Waukesha County. Entombment followed. Relatives and friends called at the family center.

Joseph E. Gindt

      Joseph E. Gindt, also known as Joe, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 81 years on 07 July 2012 surrounded by his family. Joseph was born on 15 January 1931, son of Joseph and Viola (nee Mueller) Gindt. He was united in marriage to Joan Koepp on 08 June 1957 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford. Joseph worked at Knippel's Barber Shop for 42 years, owning and operating it since 1959. He retired in 1997. Joe served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1953, attaining the rank of sergeant during the Korean conflict. Joe was a quiet and loving husband, father and proud grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, attending his grandchildrens' sporting events, volunteering at church, watching sports on TV, especially the Brewers and Packers and spending time with friends for coffee and lunch.

Joseph was survived by his loving wife Joan of 55 years, their son Joe (Wanda) of Green Bay, grandson Jordan (Kristi) of Scottsdale, Arizona, granddaughter Claire of Milwaukee, and grandson Connor of Green Bay. He was also survived by his sister in-law Helen Gindt of Mayville, brother in-law Armond Sterr of El Paso, Texas, sister in-law Diane Gindt of Kewaskum and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin, sister Dorothy and brother Dennis.

Visitation was on Wednesday, 11 July at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 462 Meadowbrook Drive in West Bend. A funeral service followed. A private burial service was held on Thursday at St. Luke Lutheran Church Cemetery, Knowles, Dodge County.

Edwin H. Reichelt

      Edwin H. Reichelt, also known as Ed, of Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Grafton, at the age of 80 years peacefully joined his deceased wife, Maryanne, on 09 July 2012. Edwin was born in St. Louis, Missouri on 18 October 1931, son of Edwin C. and Marie (nee Hoelter) Reichelt. After high school, Ed proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy on the Aircraft Carrier USS Roosevelt. He was honorably discharged 27 October 1954. He married his sweetheart, Maryanne Hoffmann, on 12 November 1955. Ed worked as a pressman and pressroom supervisor for Northwestern Printing Company, Jens Printing and Visual Systems. He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355. Ed loved his family. Nothing made him prouder than being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a committed friend ... always looking for ways to serve and assist. He will be sorely missed!

Edwin was survived by seven children, Todd (Cindy) Reichelt of O'Fallon, Illinois, Eddie (Carol) Reichelt of Port Washington, Candace (Mark) Pape of Grafton, Christopher (Sue) Reichelt of Sheboygan Falls, Gregory Reichelt of Milwaukee, Julie (Jim) Flatley of Port Washington and Kim (Matt Lesch) of Milwaukee; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great grandchildren on the way. He was further survived by two brothers, Denny (Sandy) Reichelt of Minocqua and Daniel (Karen) Reichelt of Grafton; one sister, Jackie (Don) Torn of Menomonee Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maryanne, in 2009 and his brother, Don (Bea) Reichelt.

Visitation was on 13 July at St. Francis Borgia North Catholic Church, 1375 Covered Bridge Road in Cedarburg. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the church where Father Ken Herian, S.J., presided. Ed was laid to rest with full military honors in St. Francis Borgia Parish Cemetery in Mequon.

William J. Hauser

      A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, 12 July 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton for William J. Hauser, who passed away at the age of 82 years on Sunday, 08 July 2012. The family received friends on Thursday at the church. Father Mike Barrett officiated the memorial Mass.

William was born on 06 September 1929 in Milwaukee, son of Joseph A. and Josephine (nee Burg) Hauser. He married Rose Marie Hauser in Milwaukee in September of 1953. Their marriage was blessed with four children. William worked as a plant manager for Frank Mayer and Associates for over 50 years. He served his country in the United States Armed Forces from February of 1951 until February of 1953. He was a proud veteran and was a member of the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355. William was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed spending much of his time at his cabin, in the north woods. He was also an avid bowler and was honored to be inducted into the Ozaukee County Bowler’s Hall of Fame.

William was survived by his children, Mark (Cheryl) Hauser, Michael (Mary Jo) Hauser, and Jane (John) Derler; and grandchildren, Steven Hauser, Matthew Hauser, Jessica Derler, Joseph Hauser, Jill Derler, Nicole Hauser, and Michael Hauser. He was further survived by two sisters, three brothers, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. William was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose Marie; and a son, William Hauser.
