Allan R. Burgardt

Allan R. Burgardt of Germantown, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County. Allan was born to Eternal Life at the age of 88 years on Thursday, 11 Octobe 2012. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorismae (nee Moore). Allan was the loving father of Ronald W. (Jean), Barbara L. Burgardt, Cathryn A. (Michael) Wetsten and Russell A. (Debbie). He was the proud grandfather of 18 and great - grandfather of 20. Allan was the Brother of Frederick (Arlene), Robert (Joann) and the late Donald. He was the brother-in-law of Carol, Russell and Bettylou. Allan was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Allan proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He volunteered for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. Allan retired from the Milwaukee Police Force after 32 years of dedicated service. He also worked for Shorewest Realty for many years. Allan was a longtime member and Ruling Elder at North Presbyterian Church.
Visitation was on Tuesday, 16 October at the Schmidt and Bartlet Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County. Private entombment was at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Allan proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He volunteered for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. Allan retired from the Milwaukee Police Force after 32 years of dedicated service. He also worked for Shorewest Realty for many years. Allan was a longtime member and Ruling Elder at North Presbyterian Church.
Visitation was on Tuesday, 16 October at the Schmidt and Bartlet Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County. Private entombment was at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Jack W. Lancin

Jack W. Lancin of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at his home at the age of 90 years on Thursday, 11 October 2012. Jack was born in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County on 06 June 1922, son of Jacob and Valerie (nee Krocha) Lancin. He grew up in Milwaukee. As a child, he studied music at the Milwaukee Conservatory, focusing on drums. Jack went on to attend and was graduate from the former Milwaukee Boys Technical High School. For a short time, he was employed at Wisconsin Motors. After enlisting in the United States Army, he served during World War II, being stationed in the European Theater. While working as a mechanic, Jack also played drums with an Army band, performing throughout Europe. Following his discharge, he returned to Milwaukee and also returned to Wisconsin Motors, retiring after 49 years of employment. On 17 January 1952, Jack was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Lindermeyer. Dorothy predeceased him on 12 December 1981. Jack loved the outdoors. His passion for fishing, camping and traveling and this passion was passed on to his children. The family would take trips to many different places throughout the United States. Jack married Joan C. (nee Kowalski) Miller on 21 July 1984. He was a member of the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post No. 36 and the Pius Father’s Club.
Survivors include his wife Joan; six children Helene (Al) Glasl, Jack, Jr., Ann (Timm) Miller, Tom, Christine (Stephen) Peterson and Kathy (Dan) Dvoran; three step-children Sharon (Don) LaPlant, Janet (Bob) Parkison and Kim (Todd) Kohler; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister Lorraine Gillan; other relatives and friends. Donald R. Tiefenbacher

Donald R. Tiefenbacher died Friday, 12 October 2012 at the age of 89 years at the Dunn County Health Care Center, where he spent the last 3 ½ years of his life after suffering a traumatic head injury from falling down stairs. Thanks to the tender care of the nursing staff there, he spent those years in comfort and good spirits without a great deal of suffering.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Lillian (Senner) Tiefenbacher; his sisters Ruth (Karl) Schoenherr and Virginia Tiefenbacher; and by his son Larry (Deborah) Tiefenbacher. He was survived by his loving wife Arlene (Hildebrand) of Menomonie; his sons Michael of Menomonie, Ronald (Deborah) of Thompsons Station, Tennessee, and John of Wimberley, Texas; grandchildren Nicole (Timothy) Smith, Chad Tiefenbacher, Jennifer (Stephen) Schultz, and Alexandra "Sasha" Tiefenbacher; step-grandchildren Jennifer (Brian) Henderson, Brandon (Amanda) Elfstrom, and Jill Elfstrom; and great-grandchildren Dylan Smith, Zoe and Savannah Tiefenbacher, Devin and Brittany Schultz; step-great-grandchildren Aiden and Austin Henderson; as well as beloved in-laws John Hildebrand, Marjorie Paul, Harold (Yasuko) Hildebrand, Leland (Evelyn) Hildebrand, Bernice Jakel, Penny Stadele, Dallas (Susan) Hildebrand, Gary (Debra) Hildebrand and Kieth (Joyce) Hildebrand; and 45 nieces and nephews and innumerable great nieces and nephews.
Donald was born 21 April 1923 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County. He was part of the North High School class of 1941 and joined the United States Army in 1943. He served from 1943-1946, stationed in Iran in the 788th Military Police Battalion, the 3285th Ordinance Base Depot Co., and the 113th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. After the war ended he was stationed in France until being mustered out in 1946. He received the Rheinland Victory Medal, the European-African Middle-Eastern Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Battle Star, 5 Overseas Bars and the Good Conduct Medal. He married Arlene Hildebrand of Butternut, WI, in 1948. Donald was graduated from Spencerian Business College in 1952 with a bachelor's degree and worked as an accountant for H.C. Schranck Company, Allis-Chal-mers, mailman for the United States Postal Service, and payroll specialist for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 1967 through 1989, when he retired. A month later, he unretired and was hired by the accounting department of Kohls Department Stores in Menomonee Falls,Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA, across the street on which he lived from 1968 through 1993, and remained a Kohls employee even after moving to Menomonie, working at the Hudson and Eau Claire stores' maintenance departments through 1999. After a year in the same position for Menomonie's Wal-Mart, he finally retired for good in 2000. Donald served as Cubmaster of Pack 129 of Milwaukee from 1960-1966 and was a proud member of the Dunn County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26 after moving to Menomonie. Outgoing and generous, Donald made many friends all over the cities in which he lived. He and Arlene, his wife of 64 years, were enthusiastic travelers, visiting 49 out of the 50 states (missing only Alaska), the 48 contiguous states by motorhome, and capped by a flight to Hawaii in 1989. They also visited Mexico and Canada. This wanderlust instilled similar aspirations in two of his sons, with Ronald and John making numerous trips to Europe and Asia between them. Don's love of travel was undoubtedly inspired by his lifelong love of cars and their history, symbolized by his prized collection of over 300 1/24-scale die cast vintage automobiles. He also enjoyed big-band music, his favorites being the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the Dorsey Brothers, Benny Goodman and Les Brown. His favorite song was Brown's "Sentimental Journey," sung by Doris Day.
Donald was buried at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin on Wednesday, 17 October.

Earl Otto Keller

Earl Otto Keller of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the Samaritan Home at the age of 87 years on Friday, 19 October 2012. Earl was born on 05 June 1925 in the town of Polk, son of Paul and Elva (nee Loos) Keller. After high school, he began his career in trucking. Earl served in the United States Army during World War II and after discharge continued a career in trucking, retiring from West Bend Transit. He was a member of Teamsters. Earl enjoyed doing word searches and playing cards with family.
He was survived by his wife Martha and his children, Minnie (Bill) Richardson, Jean (Ron) Erstad, John (Ann) Keller, Terry Keller, and Rose Keller. Earl was further survived by his grandchildren: Debbie Westenberger, Ron, Angie, Curtis, and Corey Erstad, Kristie, Jason, and Scott Keller, Brad, Amy, Mike, Adam, Tobey and Nathan Keller, and Jamie Sabo; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Gary, and brothers, Clyde and Leroy.
The funeral service for Earl was held on Wednesday 24 October at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend) where Chaplain Cheryl Matusiak presided. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Slinger.

Eugene B. Priesgen, also known as Timy, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 84 years on Friday, 19 October 2012 at the Hartford Care Center surrounded by his family. Eugene was born on 12 March 1928, son of Irene (nee Meyer) and Edward Priesgen. He married Vanilda “Nellie” Moser on 09 October 1948 at Holy Hill in Hubertus. Eugene was a truck driver and farmer most of his life. He also served in the United States Army. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and his dogs, antique tractors, tinkering with tools, and was a Packer fan.
He was survived by his wife Nellie; children Darlene (Dale) Grinwald, Gerald “Butch” (Betty) and Eugene Jr. (friend Cindy) Priesgen all of Rubicon, Janet (Nick) Klink of Hartford, Ronald Priesgen of West Bend, and Jeffery Priesgen of Hartford; grandchildren, Brenda, Ryan, Terri, Troy, Keith, Kristina, Michelle, and Marcia; 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Leroy (Mary) and Jerome (Maryann) Priesgen. Eugene was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. James J. Cuda of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, entered Eternal Life at the age of 92 years on Sunday, 21 October 2012. James was born in Hoopston, ILlinois on 28 July 1920, son of Frank and Rose Cuda. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Vickie (nee Redman) and son James. James was the loving father of Carla (Greg) Von Roenn, Cheryl Cuda, Diane Redman, Elizabeth Cuda, Roz (John) Huber and step-father of Gail (Clete) Kling. James was survived by his sweetheart Ruth Holman, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose. James was the last remaining child of a family of 11. Brothers Nick, Peter, Dominic I, Dominic II, Pat, Tony and Frank; sisters Elizabeth, Mary and Jane.

Walter E. Yanke, also known as Wally, of Jackson, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 92 years on Sunday, 21 October 2012 at the Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County. Walter was born on 20 January 1920 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of Ernst and Alma (nee Sonnenberg) Yanke. He married Ruth I. Dahlinger in Milowaukee on 18 April 1942. Wally served in the United States Army during World War II and then worked at A.O. Smith for many years, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at his homes up north.

Eugene Christopher Lewandowski

Eugene Christopher Lewandowski passed away at the age of 91 years on 22 October 2012 surrounded by family and friends at his home in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. Eugene was born in Lodz, Poland on 30 December1920. He came to the United States after serving in the United States Third Army Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) in Eastern Europe. His knowledge of five languages made him a valuable asset in areas of eastern Poland immediately after the war. During the war, he was a member of the "AK," one of five elements of the Polish resistance to the Nazi Occupation, engaging in sabotage action and combat against Nazi forces. Eugene was imprisoned by both the Nazis and the Russians during the war. He came to Chicago in 1949, meeting and marrying his wife, Marie Batelt, in 1952, also from Lodz, while studying at Northwestern University business college and working for Marshall Field. He eventually became the chief buyer of textiles for Marshall Field, displaying the knowledge and good taste he inherited from his family’s long involvement in textiles in Poland. His success there led to his recruitment by Reigel Textiles in North Carolina where he became CEO in 1972. Jack Winter eventually lured him back to the Midwest where he became the CEO of Winter’s 78-store Mary Lester Fabrics chain in Milwaukee in 1975. Eugene retired in 1982 and spent his retirement cultivating magnificent flower gardens on his property and entertaining friends and family.

Romaine G. Robillard

Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, resident Romaine G. Robillard, also known as Robie, died at the age of 86 years on Friday, 26 October 2012 at Horizon Hospice in Mequon, where he was transported the previous day. Romaine was born on 23 May 1926, in Eau Claire, son of Godfrey and Hazel Robillard. Robie is survived by his five children, Richard (Christine) of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Susan of Grafton, Michael of Chicago, Illinois, Thomas (Lorie) of Grafton and John (Barbra) of Wheaton, Illinois; grandchildren, Brett (Melanie), Heidi, Kelly (Ken), Dan, Erin, Ben and Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren, Hayley, Abigail and Brady. He was further survived by his elder sister, Lorraine of Eau Claire. Robie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Janet.
Robie graduated early from St. Patrick’s High School (Eau Claire) in 1944 to enlist in the Navy at 17. He trained in electrical maintenance at United States Naval Training School – Purdue and served honorably on the USS Oglala electrical maintenance ship in Leyte Gulf (Philippines), returning stateside in 1946. Robie married his high school sweetheart, Mary Janet Roach, on 01 May 1948, in Eau Claire. They moved to Milwaukee in 1954 and Grafton in 1956. His life work was as an electronic technician with AC Electronics, a subsidiary of General Motors/Delco, building micro- miniature devices used in guidance systems including NASA-sponsored work for the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo space programs. Robie was an avid sportsman, hunting, fishing, camping and canoeing Canadian rivers as well as competing for many years in softball, bowling, archery and golf.
After retirement, and while caring for his wife, Mr. Robillard became a skilled golfer, assembling his own clubs and playing weekly with a goal, frequently met, of "playing his age." Robie enjoyed music, electronic gadgets, hearing people’s stories, trying new food and the weekly Sunday night dinner with his family. Robie was privileged and proud to be included on the 02 May 2010 Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. for World War II veterans. He was a member of the Shorewood North Shore American Legion Post 331 and the Eau Claire Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 305. He and Janet were active members of St. Joseph Church and School in Grafton.

Stuart Richard Mitkey, OCUI2, was born to eternal life at the age of 25 years on 24 October 2012. Stuart was the beloved son of Richard and Christine (nee Swatek) Mitkey; loyal brother of Lena Christine Mitkey; loving grandson of Bernice (the late Raymond) Mitkey and Phyllis (the late Ralph) Swatek. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
Stuart graduated from Saint Francis Borgia Grade School and Cedarburg High School. Robert Berger Sr., also known as Buck, of Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, entered eternal life at the age of 93 years on 21 October 2012. Robert was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Doris (nee Blauert) of 64 years; beloved son, James; and sister, Katie Kloster. He is survived by sons, Thomas (Sharon), and Robert Jr; and daughter- in-law, Sue; loving grandchildren, Joseph, Debra (Kyle) Newman, Bethany, Andrew and Robert III; adoring great-grandchildren, Natalie and Nadia Newman, and Emma Berger; and sister, Emma Krueger; nephews and niece; plus a host of many loving and caring friends.

Harvey F. Schmidt

Harvey F. Schmidt of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 93 years on Sunday, 28 October 2012 at the Samaritan Health Center. Harvey was born in St. Michael on 25 January 1919, son of John and Margaret (nee Sommers) Schmidt. As a young child, the family moved to West Bend. He attended Holy Angels Grade School, graduating from West Bend High School in 1937 then attended the former Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary of Science and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1940. During World War II, he served with the United States Navy as a corpsman. Following his discharge, he returned to West Bend and was the co-operator of the Schmidt Funeral Home and Schmidt Floor Covering. In 1953, he started working for Mayer-Hughes Company in Milwaukee as a floor covering estimator. He then managed the Bay View Linoleum Company for a number of years.
On June 4, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mavis M. (nee Krahn) Olson at Zion Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. In 1957, they settled in West Bend. Together they operated the Candlwick Lounge in Hartford for a short time. Later, they co-owned the Schmidtselhaus in downtown West Bend. After they sold the business, he tended bar at the 5 D’s and The Fireside in Allenton. For many years, he volunteered and worked for the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Being an avid tennis player, he earned various awards throughout the years, dating back to his high school years. He also was a faithful Brewers fan, attending, listening to or watching as many games as he could. He also loved animals, including his dogs, Heidi, Snuggles and Penny, and his cat Babe.
He was a member of the West Bend Lodge 1398 Loyal Order Of Moose, the West Bend Noon Kiwanis and a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an usher.
Survivors included his wife Mavis; three children, Kathleen (Gary) Gooding, Harvey Jo and Eileen Siska; three step-children, Karen Bell, Thomas Olson and Bryan Olson; grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; three step-great great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Catherine Schmidt, Ruby Bever, Marilyn (Richard) Backhaus and Virginia “Tootsie” Simpson; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Bohn and Viola Unser, one brother, Leander Schmidt, and one step granddaughter, Barbara Ann.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, 01 November at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend where the Reverend David Schoob officiated. The family greeted relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday.

Ralph E. Malach

Ralph E. Malach of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Ashland, passed away at the age of 80 years on Saturday, 27 October 2012, at Kathy Hospice in West Bend. Ralph was born in Lugerville, Price County on 28 July 1932, son of Samuel and Anna (Smetak) Malach. When he was 4 years old, his family moved to Park Falls and in 1950, he graduated from Lincoln High School, Park Falls. Ralph enlisted in the United States Navy and completed boot camp at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center and then attended Naval Hospital Corps School. He served at various naval medical facilities and then was transferred to the Marine Corps training center at Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he completed basic Marine Corps and field medical training, after which he joined the First Marine Corps Division in Korea. After Ralph was discharged from military service, he attended Northland College in Ashland.
On 09 July 1955, he married Mary Lou Hetfeld. Ralph then worked 21 years at Columbia Furniture Company in Ashland. He and his wife, Mary Lou, purchased and then operated the Hillmor Supper Club for 12 years. Ralph was active in the Tavern League of Wisconsin and served on the state board and served as the Northern Zone vice president. He also worked for Tervo Motors and Von Holzen Pontiac Buick GMC. At the age of 62, he retired and did part-time work for 16 years at the Ashland County Aging Unit as a bus driver. After the passing of his wife, Mary Lou on 23 February 2008, he moved to West Bend to be closer to his younger grandchildren to see them in their school and sports activities.
Ralph was survived by two daughters, Carrie (Phil) Pierce, West Bend, and Paula (Dan) Vaughan, Hustisford; three sons, Ralph (Clara) Malach Jr. and Scott (Arlene) Malach, both of Ashland, and Michael Malach of Green Bay; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ella “Toni” Boutwell, Ashland; a brother, Renny (Rosemary) Malach, Missoula, Montana; a close cousin, Beatrice (Jerry) Johnson, Park Falls; a brother-in-law, Clarence “Mickey” (Lucille) Hetfeld, Grass Range, Montana; and nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Mary Lou, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Calvin; and a close brother-in-law, Bill Boutwell.

Ernest L. Hippe

Ernest L. Hippe, also known as Ernie, died at the age of 79 years on Thursday, 25 October 2012 at Provena-St. Joseph Medical Center in Elgin, Illinois following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ernie was born in Starbuck, Minnesota on 11 December 1932, son of Oscar and Josephine (nee Pederson) Hippe. He spent his entire childhood in Starbuck and upon graduation from high school, he enlisted for service in the United States Army. Following his discharge he went on to attend St. Olaf College in Minnesota. In 1957 he joined the West Bend Company, where he met his wife, Delores and they married on 27 September 1958. After 39 years of service to the company, Ernie retired from his position as the international sales manager of the Multi-Core Division. His career brought many opportunities for he and Delores to enjoy travel throughout the world, a passion they shared throughout his lifetime. Following retirement they moved to Lake in the Hills, Illinois and enjoyed their time playing golf, continuing to travel and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Glenn A. Bittermann of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 66 years on Wednesday, 31 October 2012, at Season’s Hospice at Merrill Hills Manor in Waukesha, Waukesha County after a long battle with cancer. Glenn was born on 31 October 1946 in Parkston, South Dakota, son of Albert and Lenora (nee Schnabel) Bittermann. He attended Klein Country Grade School and graduated from Delmont, South Dakota High School in 1964. Glenn was united in marriage to Julie Fuerniss on 04 November 1967, in Delmont, and shortly after their marriage the couple moved to West Bend. He was employed at the West Bend Company for 33 years, retiring in 2000. Glenn served in the National Guard and also drove cars for the Bob Fish Auto Dealership for many years. Glenn enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and working on his Mustangs.

John R. Oelstrom of Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 69 years on Wednesday, 10 October 2012. John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He always remained true to the values of the Corps and was never an "ex" Marine. After his enlistment in the Marines, he had a strong career at Forrer Business Interiors. His next big step was to venture out on his own, creating the Delta Group, a sales promotion company. Perfectly utilizing his people skills and solid salesmanship, he built the Delta Group into a solid entity. Looking forward to enjoying retirement, John needed two spine surgeries, which unfortunately limited his physical abilities. John had three years of constant pain … now he has none. In life, John was always fun to be with. He gave 100 percent to every adventure, whether power boating, hunting, riding one of his several Harleys or grilling the perfect steak. He will be terribly missed by the many who knew him and loved him, and especially by his life partner of 43 years, Mary.

Richard J. Greene Sr., also known as Dick, Age 76, born to Eternal Life at the age of 76 years on Saturday, 13 October 2012. He was the loved and cherished husband of Sandie. They were united in marriage on 02 March 1957. Together they raised five beautiful children; Cindie Zanow, Teresa (Rich) Olroyd, Steven Jr. (RaeAnn), Taylor (Robin) and Richard Jr; "Pa Pa OD" of ten cherished grandchildren, Scott and Aaron (Ashley) Hemman, James Zanow, Danny and Andrew Olroyd, Crystal, Steven Jr. and Jamie Jae Greene, Austin and Ashley Greene; two adored great-grandchildren, Angel Greene and Allyson Hemman; and sister, Elizabeth Bordeaux of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was further survived by other loving relatives and good friends.

Joseph A. Ruplinger Sr. of Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Milwaukee. Joseph was born to Eternal Life at the age of 88 years on 02 November 2012. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Dolan). Joseph was the father of Joseph A. Ruplinger, Jr., Rosie (Mick) Cote and Terri (Steve) Bauer. He was the loving grandfather of Ben Smedema, Veronica and Jessica Bauer. Fond brother of Raymond Ruplinger, Delores Neville and Harold Ruplinger. Special uncle of Thomas Neville and Sharon (John) Aukofer. Great-uncle of Bonnie (Dan) Tesch. Joseph was also survived by other relatives and friends.
He was an United States Army veteran of WWII. Joseph retired of Square D after over 30 years of service.
Visitation was on Wednesday, 07 November at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service and full military honors followed at Schramka Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls.. There was a private burial at Forest Home Cemetery.

Helmuth S. Schwichtenberg, also known as Squeky of Lake Placid, Florida, USA, died at the age of 74 years on Sunday, 21 October 2012 at Florida Hospital in Lake Placid. Helmut was a native of Wisconsin, born 10 April 1938 in Washington County, son of Ms. Mataldae and Adolf Schwichtenberg. He was a United States Army veteran. Hekmut served as a police officer in Washington County and a wrecker service officer in West Bend before coming to Lake Placid in 1988 from West Bend. After moving to Lake Placid, he worked for Tom Clark as a wrecker officer and for George Mason Citrus as a truck driver. Helmut was very generous with his time. He was an avid volunteer for disaster relief, making runs throughout the states carrying relief items for those stricken. Helmut was a member of Lake Placid Church of Christ, Moose, and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was an avid follower of NASCAR and the 12 Hours of Sebring.
Helmut was survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Donna Mae (Ewert) Schwichtenberg; children, Dean (Teresa), James, Scott Sr., all of West Bend, and Jean of Slinger; brother, Walter of Lomira; seven grandchildren. He was blessed with three great-grandchildren.

Alfred A. Bublitz, also known as Al, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, went to his Heavenly Home at the age of 93 years on Sunday, 04 November 2012 at the Harvest Home in West Bend, surrounded by his family. Visitation for Alfred was held at Peace Lutheran Church, 1001 Center Street, Hartford, on Saturday, 10 November. Alfred's funeral service followed the visitation at Peace Lutheran Church where the Reverends Jerome and Jeffrey Enderle officiated. Burial, with military honors, was held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford.
Al was born in the town of Polk, Washington County on 04 July 1919, son of William and Edna (Schwanz) Bublitz. He graduated from Slinger High School in 1936. Alfred served in the United States Navy during World War II from May 1944, to February 1946. He was united in marriage to Fern Derge on 04 August 1945 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Herman, Dodge County. Alfred worked as a toolmaker at the West Bend Company, Chrysler Outboard and the Bayliner Company in Hartford for more than 40 years, being the longest continually employed person when he retired. Al was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and sang in the choir for over 30 years. He was on the building committee for the new church and school and was on the stewardship committee for many years. He also served on both the church council and the school board. He helped start the Pioneer Program at Peace Lutheran in which he was a leader for over 30 years, served as a district leader and was on the National Council. Alfred looked forward to his bowling league Friday nights at Dave’s Lanes in Hartford. He was also an instructor for the Moraine Park Technical College in Hartford. In his retirement. Al enjoyed woodworking and made many wood gifts for his children and grandchildren. During that time he also enjoyed volunteering for the Hartford Auto Museum for more than 20 years.

Harry M. Idzikowski
M, b. 12 September 1918, d. 03 November 2012
Harry M. Idzikowski, formerly of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away and entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at Kindred Heart Assisted Living in Fond du Lac at the age of 94 years on Saturday, 03 November 2012, with his family by his side. Harry was born in Milwaukee on 12 September 1918, son of Max and Josephine Idzikowski. He graduated from Riverside High School in 1936 and was part of the legendary cross country program there that eventually won the most state championships in Wisconsin state history. After graduation, Harry sold shoes for The Kinney Shoe Company before entering the United States Army in 1941 during World War II. While serving in the Pacific campaign, Harry was a survivor of the USS Calvin Coolidge, a troop transport ship which was hit by a Japanese torpedo and sunk. He served in the Solomon Islands including the battle at Guadalcanal before being sent stateside for an injury. Harry was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Pauline Pucek in 1948 and resided in Wauwatosa and in Jackson, Washington County. Harry worked for 35 years at the Perlick Company in the refrigeration department where he achieved many annual records for perfect attendance. He retired in 1988. Harry loved to fish, bowl, travel and play his harmonicas. He was considered a virtuoso at the harmonica and was asked to demonstrate his talent at many Hohner Harmonica seminars. Harry played for many civic and church organizations in the greater Milwaukee area and had the distinction of meeting and befriending the songwriter and folk singer Eddie Rabbit. He was also a member of the Milwaukee Accordion Club.
Harry was survived by his children: Carol (Cam) Kurer, George (Debbie) Idzikowski, Donna (Bill) Grage, and Robert (Julie) Idzikowski. He was further survived by his beloved grandchildren: Sarah, Katie, and Peter Kurer, Evan and Shawn Maloney, and Justin Curro; as well as other relatives and friends. Harry was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Idzikowski; two brothers: Edward and George and a sister, Elanor; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Idzikowski and a brother-in-law, Carl Schaub.
Harry was a man of many wonderful quotes. One of his favorite quotes was: “It’s easy enough to be happy when life goes along like a song, but a man worthwhile is one who can smile when everything goes dead wrong.” He enjoyed life and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Visitation was held at the Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, on Saturday, 10 November folllowed by a funeral service. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery with full military honors.

Eugene J. Blecha, also know as Gene, of North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of the Port Washington area, Ozaukee County, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 83 years on Wednesday, 24 October 2012 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee County. Gene was born in the town of Trenton, Washington County on 06 April 1929, son of Henry Blecha and Hilda (Eicksteadt) Blecha. He grew up on the family farm in Myra (Newburg). In 1947, he enlisted and served his country in the United States Army. On 19 April 1952, he married Ruth Schanen at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Saukville. Gene worked as a truck driver for Marchese Trucking in Port Washington and Freeman Chemical in Saukville. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, and most recently worshipped at Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac. Eugene was also a proud member of the Teamsters. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, reading, and listening to polka music.

Jack E. Thomas of Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wiscoinsin, USA, passed away at the age of 94 years on 27 October 2012. Jack was born and raised in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, son of Bessie and George Thomas. He was the devoted and loving husband of Lorraine Siekert; dear father of Bob (Sharon) and Jackie (Bill) Niehaus; proud grandfather of Jonathan (Meseret) Niehaus and Emily (Scott) Metcalfe; and loving great-grandfather of Elise Olive Metcalfe. Jack was further survived by brother-in-law Dr. Robert (Mary Jane) Siekert. Nephews Robert, Jr. (Linda), Fred (Glenna), and John Siekert; nephews Gary and Greg (Rebecca) Sagemiller also survive him. His sister Jayne and her husband Fred Sagemiller predeceased him.
Jack received his bachelor and master degrees in accounting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison campus. He and Lorraine were married in December 1941. Soon after, he attended Harvard University in preparation to be a naval supply officer in World War II. He spent four years in the supply corps working with early computers. At the end of the war, he served in the naval reserves. In 1951 he was called to active duty for two years during the Korean War. He eventually retired as commander from the reserves. Jack started his civilian career with Arthur Anderson Accounting. He retired as comptroller of the Falk Corporation after many years. In addition, he served on the faculty of University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Campus for 23 years, teaching adult evening classes in accounting. He maintained real estate broker and insurance licenses. Governor Warren Knowles appointed Jack to serve on the Wisconsin Accounting Examining Board from 1965 to 1978. He was a member of the Wisconsin Institute of C.P.A.s, the Institute of Management Accountants, the National Association of Accountants and Beta Alpha Psi accounting fraternity. He served as a trustee on the Menomonee Falls Village Board. Jack and his family lived in Key West, Florida, Long Beach, California, and Milwaukee. In 1949, the family moved to a home on 40 acres in the countryside of Menomonee Falls where they remained for a memorable 46 years. Jack thrived on the challenges of living in the country. He enjoyed playing Sheepshead, listening to music, attending the theatre, and spending time with his family. He maintained a life long relationship with his Boy Scout troop. Boating on Wisconsin lakes was a favorite outing. He appreciated vacations with his children and grandchildren here and abroad. Jack was remembered as a friendly man with a sense of humor and love of dark chocolate. Jack's body was donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin for medical education and scientific research.

Boating on Wisconsin lakes was a favorite outing. He appreciated vacations with his children and grandchildren here and abroad. Jack was remembered as a friendly man with a sense of humor and love of dark chocolate. Jack's body was donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin for medical education and scientific research.
A private family memorial service was held. Memories of Jack will always remain in the hearts of his beloved family and dear friends.

Edmund J. Parchim, also known as Ed, of Granville Road, Cedarburg, Ozazukee County, Wisconsin, USA, died peacefully at the age of 84 years on Wednesday, 14 November 2012 at the Lighthouse of West Bend where he had resided for the past month. Edmund was born in Milwaukee on 28 April 1928, son of August P. and Clara (nee Schwartz) Parchim. The family moved to the Newburg area where he attended a one room schoolhouse. Ed later moved to the town of Cedarburg. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. On 11 September 1954, Ed married Rosemary Gerlach of West Bend at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Together they started a family. In 1964 they moved to Granville Road. Ed was a hard-working family man, a concrete mason and brick layer by trade. He started with Krause Construction and Tews Concrete for many years. Ed also worked with many construction companies through the Cement Masons Local Union, retired in 1985. He drove truck for Liesener Soils of Jackson for almost 10 years. Ed will be remembered as a fun grandpa, a “jack of all trades,” able to tear down and rebuild almost anything. This trait he certainly has passed down to his children and grandchildren. He is also a gamer for his generation, excelling in bingo, sheepshead and the slots.
With great pride he was a member to the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355 and Cedarburg/ Grafton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10171.
He was survived by his wife Rosemary, his children Sue (the late George) Pujanauski of the Town of Saukville, Patty (Rich) Vey of Grafton, Kenny (Brenda) Parchim of Cedarburg, Nancy (Owen) Cherry of Eagle River, Terry (Diana) Parchim of Sheboygan, Randy Parchim of Waldo and Dennis Parchim of Cedarburg. Ed was further survived by 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister Delores (the late Dave) Mueller of West Bend, a brother August “Augie” (Bernice) Parchim of Little Kohler, two brothers- in-law Ralph (the late Delores) Rosbeck of West Bend and Herbie (the late Evelyn) Strupp of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters Frances and Leona, a brother John, and granddaughter Sara Pujanauski.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, 20 November at Divine Savior Parish-St. Rose Chapel, 305 Fredonia Avenue., Fredonia. The Reverend Todd Budde, pastor was the celebrant. Visitation was on Tuesday at the church. Interment took place in St. Francis Bourgia Catholic Cemetery, Cedarburg.
