Henry was born on 04 December 1918 in Neillsville, Clark County to the late Henry Herian and Ella Meyers. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1940 and saw action overseas in the Philippines and New Guinea. He attained the rank of S/Sgt. and was discharged in 1945. In 1955, Henry married Geraldine Singkofer in Dubuque, Iowa. She passed away on 21 May 1999. They lived in the Wisconsin Dells area since 1981. He was the father of two children. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Perry and Louis, and two sisters, Gwendolyn and Zurelda. A memorial funeral service was on Sunday, 12 September 1999 at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend.

Walter J. Giese

Walter J. "Wally" Giese of Kewaskum, Washington County, Wisconsin passed away at the age of 74 years on Saturday, 04 September 1999 at Cedar Lake Health Care Center in West Bend. He was born on 01 April 1925 in the town of Auburn, Wood County to the late Otto Giese and Alice Zimmerman. On May 1, 1948, Walter was united in marriage to Betty Ann Prost at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum. He was the father of three children. Walter was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. He was employed by Regal Ware Inc. in Kewaskum for 37 and a half years until his retirement in 1989 and was a member of the 35 Year Club. Walter served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a 33-year member of the Kewaskum American Legion Robert G. Romaine Post 384 where he was past commander. He was a retired member of the Kewaskum Fire Department after 17 years of service. Walter was preceded in death by a son, Randall Scott; and an infant brother, Otto Jr. and three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law. Funeral services were held at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum with Rev. Edwin Fredrich officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites, followed at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

George E. Gadow

George E. Gadow of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin died Wednesday, 15 September 1999 at his residence. He was 71 years of age. George was born 22 February 1928 in the former village of Barton to the late William Gadow and Margaret Hauesler. He married Barbara Kieren on 10 September 1955 at Holy Cross Church in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County. After graduating from West Bend High School, George entered the United States Navy, serving on the battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin. Upon his discharge, George attended Marquette University where he received a bachelor degree in business. He was employed at The West Bend Company from 1954 until retiring in 1990. From 1965 until 1968 he was the comptroller at The West Bend Company plant in Barrie, Ontario. George was a very active volunteer with the West Bend Patriots Drum and Bugle Corps for many years, and served on its board of directors. He was a member of The West Bend Company 25-year Club, a former member of the West Bend Jaycees, a former member and officer of the West Bend Lodge 1398 Loyal Order of Moose, and a former advisor in the Junior Achievement program. He was the husband of Mary Michael-Obermeier and the father of their four children. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, 18 September at St. Frances Cabrini Church in West Bend. Fathers Jeffrey Haines and Robert Albers were co-celebrants. His burial followed in Union Cemetery.

Marlin G. "Marley" Kocher of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin passed away at the age of 81 years on Thursday, 23 September 1999 at St. Joseph Community Hospital in West Bend. He was born on 16 November 1917 in Kewaskum to Albert Kocher and Antonie Belger. He married Helene M. McCartney on 24 December 1943 at Zaboth Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Marlin was raised in Kewaskum and graduated with the Class of 1935. After high school, he farmed until 1942, when he moved to West Bend and was employed at the Koehring Company. He served with the United States Navy during World War II and in the Korean Conflict. After the service, he continued working for the Koehring Company of Milwaukee for over 42 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the VFW Post 1393 of West Bend and past member of the Loyal Order of Moose also of West Bend. He was the father of three children. Funeral services were held on Sunday, 26 September at the Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend.

Russell William Schneider died at the age of 75 years on Sunday, 26 September 1999 at his residence in Kewaskum, Washington County, Wisconsin. He was born on 02 February 1924 in Canton, South Dakota to the late LeRoy Schneider and Isabelle Mitchell. Russell married Dorothy D. Gullickson on 10 February 1944 in Mitchell, South Dakota. After serving in the United States Navy during World war II, he joined John Morrells of South Dakota as a meat cutter and worked there for over 20 years. Later he joined The West Bend Company in West Bend, Washington County and was employed there for over 18 years. He loved coaching Little League and did so for many years. Russell was an avid bowler and enjoyed camping and fishing. His greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren. Her was survived by his wife and four children. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Connie Scott, and four brothers, Lloyd, Francis, Loraine and James. He was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend, and the American League of Kewaskum. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, 29 September at the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church. Pastor William Dushek officiated at the service. Cremation took place at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

James W. Kissel

James W. Kissel of Glenview, Illinois, passed away at the age of 83 years on 08 September 1999. He was the husband of Penelope J. and the late Katherine V. He was the father of two children. Mr. Kissel was born in Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin in 1915. James was an heir to the Kissel Car Company, which made fine automobiles and trucks in the 1920s. Mr. Kissel served as a supply officer in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a 1932 graducate of Hartford High School and attended the University of Wisconsin where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Fraternity, Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, Northwetern University, and John Marshall Law School. He was an active partner with the law firm of Sidney & Austin where he practiced for more than 50 years. His accolades include being president of the Chicago Bar Association, a distinguished member of the Society of Trial Lawyers, and a "Fellow" in the American Trial Lawyers College. He represented the interests of several well known Chicagoans, including P.K. Wrigley, Mohammed Ali, J.D. Searle, as well as Illinois Bell Telephone Company. He spearheaded several cases before the Illinois Supreme Court, lectured extensively, and authored many legal works. James dedicated much of his life to working with youths in the Glenview Little League where he managed baseball teams for more than 17 years and earned five champoinships during that time. Visitation was held on Friday, 24 September followed by a wake service at Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 1104 Waukegan Rd., Glenview. Interment followed at Graceland Cemetery in Racine, Racine County, Wwisconsin.

Charles Metzo

Charles Metzo of Jackson, Washington County, Wisconsin died at the age of 81years on Sunday, 03 October 1999 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital in West Bend. He was born 08 January 1918 in Westline, Pennsylvania to the late Fedor Misco and Eva Ledney. After graduating from high school, he entered the United States Navy where he served in the South Pacific. During World War II and the Korean Conflict, he sailed on the Battleship New Jersey. On 15 January 1960, he married Ruth K. Hedinger in Bellingham, Washington. After his retirement on 02 October 1962, he served in the U.S. Navy Reserves, retiring on 01 October 1970. Charles then was employed by Chrysler Marine Corporporation, Midas Corporporation and until 1997, was employed at Technology Plus. He was a member of the Adrian W. Frankow Chapter 58 Disabled American Veterans, the Cleveland Johnson Post 574 American Legion, and Post 6374 Veterans of Foreign Wars. His wife and four children survived hm. Preceding him in death were three brothers, John Miczo, Peter Metzo and Michael Miczo, and a sister, Mary Miczo. Graveside services were held Wednesday, 24 November at the Bridge View Cemetery in Mt. Jewett, Pennsylvania.

Eugene Lynch

Eugene Lynch of Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Duluth, Minnesota., died at the age of 73 years on Friday, 01 October 1999 in Sun City Center after a long and courageous battle with Parkinsons Disease. Gene was born on 05 September 1926, near Hartford, Washington County, Wwisconsin to the late Charles Lynch and Lillian Powell Lynch. He graduated from high school at the age of 17, then entered the United States Navy and was decorated for his service in World War II. As a boxer Gene compiled a 23-2 record. He graduated from college in 1951 and earned advanced degrees from the University of Wisconsin. As a life-long educator, Gene was a classroom teacher, football and basketball coach, elementary principal and curriculum coordinator for 17 years in West Bend. He spent two years as an associate professor of education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In 1969 he accepted the assistant superintendency for curriculum in Duluth where he remained until retiring in 1982. For several years following his retirement, Gene served as court mediator, often traveling to other states to mediate cases. Gene will always be remembered for his passion for education, his sense of humor and his ability to conciliate. He was a loving and generous husband and father. Surviving Eugene were his wife of 47 years, JoAnn, and their five children. Preceding him in death were three brothers, Ray, Gerry and Joe. Memorial services were held on Saturday, 09 October in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 East Fourth Street, Duluth.

Harvey F. Maas

His funeral service was held Saturday following at First Immanuel Lutheran Church. Reverend Randolph Raasch officiated at the service. Burial was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg with arrangements handled by Mueller Funeral Home of that same city. Mr. Maas was born in Cedarburg on 19 April 1917 to Fred Maas and Martha Kannenburg. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He returned from the service to marry Viola Jaeger on 23 February 1946 at First Immanuel Lutheran Church. A lifelong member of First Immanuel, Mr. Maas was an illustrating artist by profession and also belonged to Cedarburg’s Peter Wollner American Legion Post. He was survived by his wife Viola and their two children.

Former Mequon mayor and alderman James F. Egan died at his Milwaukee home at the age of 76 years on 06 October 1999 of congestive heart failure. A memorial service was held Saturday at Feerick Funeral Home in Shorewood, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Mr. Egan was born in Milwaukee on 15 December 1922 to William and Viola Egan. He graduated from Riverside High School, served in the United States Army during World War II and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Egan married Penelope Stout in 1950. The couple moved to Mequon, Ozaukee County in 1954. He was the father of four children. In 1959 he was elected to the Common Council. Mr. Egan ran successfully for mayor in 1965 and served through 1971. He was a past president of the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission and a member of the governor’s study committee on mass transit in the 1970s and a study group of the Comprehensive Health Planning Agency of Southeastern Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by a son Colin.

Myles was born on 04 October 1942 in West Bend, Washington County to the late Roy G. Steber and Leona E. Ernst. Following his graduatiom from West Bend High School, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a military policeman. After his marriage to Ruth A. Schmidt on 07 April 1984, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, the couple lived in Monroe, Green County for a short time. They then moved to the East coast. In 1991, Myles and Ruth returned to West Bend. He was employed in the printing industry for 23 years. At the time of his illness, he was employed at Pope Scientific in Saukville, Ozaukee County. For 28 years, he was a band member with Bernie and His Jolly Lads, and also Cherokee Rose. Myles was a member of the West Bend Lodge 1398 Loyal Order of Moose and also the Monroe Lodge Loyal Order of Moose, and was volunteer for Barton Share. Survivors include his wife and two children. Funeral services were held on Wednesday 20 October at Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend. Reverend James Eckblad officiated. Burial was on Thursday at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

He was of 70 years of age. Chester was born on 12 August 1929 in Hartford to the late Walter J. Sterr and Theckla E. Schwabenlanderr. Chester married Mary E. Rindt on 25 June 1955 at Holy Angels Church in West Bend. Mary passed away on 20 April. When he was a youngster, the family moved to West Bend where he lived until moving to Crivitz in 1989. Chester served in the United States Air Force, serving in Okinawa. Following his discharge, he was employed by The Gehl Company and remainded with the company for 33 years. Chester enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, traveling, playing cards, especially sheepshead, snowmobiling, and life in northern Wisconsin. He was a member of the VFW Fred A. Schaefer Post 1393 where he served as post commander. He was also a member of the Hexelbank Club at The Gehl Company. Chester was survived by three children. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, 08 November at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Father Jerome Repenshek presided. Burial followed at Holy Angels Cemetery in West Bend.

He owned Herriges Firewood, was a life-long member of St. Michaes Catholic Church, St. Michaels. Raymond was an honorary member of the Boltonville Fire Department. He was the stepfather to three children. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, 12 November at St. Michael Catholic Churchin St. Michaels. Father Robert Artmann officiated. Burial with military graveside rites will be on Saturday in St. John of God Catholic Church Cemetery, town of Farmington.

Leland Olderman

Leland "Rex" Olderman of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin died Tuesday, 09 November 1999 at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee at the age of 68 years. He was born on 14 December 1930 in Oconto, Oconto County to the late Lebrecht Olderman and Grace Pellow. Leland was a graduate and a 50-year alumnus of Gillett High Schoo. He served in the United States Army in Korea. Leland married Anita Nehls on 21 March 1964 in Milwaukee. He was self-employed as a custom cabinetmaker, owning and operating Rex Cabinets. He also worked at P.J.’s Dental Lab. Leland was survived by his wife, Anita, and two sons. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter "Jack." Funeral services were held Friday, 12 November at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. Reverend Jerry Repenshek officiated. Burial was on Saturday at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
