Kenneth Schultz

      Kenneth Schultz, also known as Ken, of Cedarburg and Thiensville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away on Friday, 07 December 2012 at the age of 91 years. Kenneth was born on 16 July 1921. Ken was a former fire chief of the village of Thiensville Volunteer Fire Department and a department member for over 60 years. He retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a rural route mailman. Kenneth was a beloved and longtime employee of the Schramka-Densow Funeral Home.

He was survived by his wife of 72 years, Caroline Opsahl. His children were David (Sheri) Schultz of Theresa, Donald (Mary) Schultz of West Bend, Ellen (Rodney) Newlin of Rosendale and Gordon (Christine) Schultz of Mequon. Ken was survived by his brother, Gerald (Mary) Schultz of Fond du lac, 12 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, 13 December at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 247 South Main Street, Thiensville. Burial with military honors took place at Zur Ruhe Cemetery on Friday.

      James R. Zilke of the town of Jackson, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died on Thursday, 13 November 2012 at the age of 77 years. He was born on 24 November 1935.

James was the beloved husband of Karen Zetterlund. He was the dear father of Jane (Mark) Teasley and Brett. James was further survived by 3 grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services was held on Monday, 17 November at Christ Lutheran Church, N168 W20152 Main Street, Jackson. Gathering of relatives and friends was on Monday at the church.

Wilfred W. Streff

      Wilfred W. Streff, also known as Bill, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, died at the age of 100 years at his residence in Cedar Bay East on Friday, 11 January 2013. Wilfred was born in Chicago, Illinois on 22 July 1912, son of Nicholas and Mary (nee Even) Streff. He married Ethel Method in April of 1947. Ethel preceded him in death in 1958. He then married Marie L. Ocvirk on 07 May 1960 in Milwaukee. At the start of World War II, Bill took a job with the civilian branch of the Air Corps, maintaining the plywood training planes. In 1943 he entered the United States Navy as a chief carpenters mate and was involved in ship repair. In 1947, Wilfred opened the Streff Shop in the old Poole Blacksmith Shop in Port Washington and began making cabinets. In 1950 he built a new shop on Spring Street and operated the business until retiring in 1977. Bill and Marie moved to West Bend in 1980. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

Bill was survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie, two children Mary Lu Wallace of Kenosha and Paul of Milwaukee, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Mary Streff, his wife Ethel, his son William, two sisters, Cecil Dahm and Florence Ollrogge, and his son-in-law George Wallace.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, 17 January at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend where Reverend Nathan Reesman presided. The visitation was at the church on Thursday.

Mary Margaret Riehle

      Mary Margaret Riehle (Nee Walsh) known to all as "Meg", was born to Eternal Life on Wednesday, 16 January 2013, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was 92 years old. Meg was born the middle child of 11 children in Lannon, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA on 27 October 1921, to Richard and Anna (nee Millan) Walsh. Mary was the beloved wife of Herb and the loving mother of Richard, Mary Ellen, Peg (Ben), Bob (Diane), Jane (Preston), Thom (Barbara) and Jim (Lynette) Riehle. Dear sister of Catherine (Robert) Lund and Joseph (Nancy) Walsh. She was further survived by 11 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Edward, Paul, Frances Roets, Reverend Richard, Delores Maher, Virginia, John and Elizabeth.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, 19 January at St. James Historic Chapel, W220 N6588 Town Line Road, Menomonee Falls, followed by burial at St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, Menomonee Falls. Visitation was Saturday prior to the Mass at the Chapel.

Meg was a proud graduate of St. Mary School of Nursing in 1942 and enjoyed the friendships and many reunions with her fellow students. As one of the greatest generations, she enlisted in the army immediately after graduation and spoke often of her experience during WWII in Guam and New Guinea. She married another army veteran, Herbert Riehle, on 03 May 1947 and they settled in Menomonee Falls and raised 7 children. Meg was widowed at the age of 39 and returned to school to receive a public health nursing degree. She worked for 20 years as a public health nurse in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties. After her retirement she spent time traveling to Ireland, Europe and various places in the United States with family and friends. Meg enjoyed reading and going to the movies, theater and symphony with family and friends. Her greatest pride were her children. Meg loved and cherished each one of her children and grandchildren. She was loved, respected and admired by many and was often sought out to answer medical questions that she always willingly answered. Meg will never be forgotten as her spirit lives on in family members left behind. They will forever feel the loss of her presence and her caring heart and good humor.

Gerald V Filo

      Gerald V. Filo, also know as Jerry, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 67 years on Tuesday, 15 January 2013. Jerry was born in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, on 26 April 1945, son of Paul and Irene (nee Proschinger) Filo. He dedicated years of service in the United States Armed Forces during the Vietnam Era and belonged to the LaPorte, Indiana Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1130. Jerry met Helen “Lenee” on 10 May 1997 and married her on 10 May 2000. He was a former Lions Club member and also a volunteer firefighter in Newburg.

Jerry was survived by his wife Lenee; children Mike (Jody) Filo of Newburg, Cindy (Jamie) McDonald of Massachusetts, Chris (Rick) Gaspardo of West Bend and their mother Carol Filo; stepdaughters Jennifer (Steve) Larson of Indiana and Heather Gordon of California; and siblings Jim (Sharon) Filo of West Bend, Judy (Dick) Behling of Cottage Grove and Jane (Claudius) Adebayo of Illinois. He was further survived by his grandchildren Brittany and Jake Filo, Ryan and Ellen McDonald, and Megan and Tony Gaspardo; step-grandchildren Dominic and Carter Gordon, Wesley Yeargain, and Jacob Larson; and best friend Al Gosewehr of Newburg. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and treasured granddaughter Rebecca. He will also be dearly missed by his canine companion, Sally, and feline companion, Straycat.

A funeral service for Jerry was on Friday, 18 January at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive in West Bend. Visitation was at the funeral home. Interment followed at St. Finbar Cemetery in the town of Saukville.

Jerry was a kind, warm, and honorable man who loved life with his family and especially sharing his little corner of the world, “his heaven on earth,” with his adoring wife, Lenee.

Ronald Robert Bintzler

      Ronald Robert Bintzler, also known as Ron, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Port Washington, Ozaukee County, passed away at the Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center in Milwaukee in the early morning hours of Tuesday, 15 January 2013. Ronald was 68 years. He was born in Grafton on 07 June 1944, son of Nick Bintzler and Thelma (nee Pattison) Bintzler. After high school, Ron served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as a mail carrier for the Grafton Post Office. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching TV.

Ronald was survived by his two sons Ben Bintzler of West Bend and Bobby Bintzler of Green Bay. He was further survived by one granddaughter Aleah Stoll-Bintzler, four sisters Fran (Don) Zautcke, Letha Schecher, Rita (Louie) Hamilton and Effie (Merlin) Plier and one brother Donny (Linda) Bintzler, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, 19 January at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 West Grand Avenue in Port Washington where Deacon Tom Surges officiated. Ronald was laid to rest with military honors at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Funeral Home on Saturday.

Donald A. Hoffmann

      Donald A. Hoffmann, also known as Don, died unexpectedly at his home in Pacific Township in Columbia County on Thursday, 17 January 2013. He was 83 years. Don was born in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA on 26 June 1929, son of Frank and Althea (nee Behm) Hoffmann. He was the grandson of Ernst Hoffmann, founder of Hoffmann’s Meat Market. Don graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1947. He was a member of the football and basketball teams throughout high school. Don was MVP in football in 1946 and was prom king in his junior year. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1954. Don served his country in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of 1st lieutenant. He married Beverly Lauson on 02 July 1955. Don entered the Lauson family business with Jack and Faye Lauson and in later years, took over management of Lauson Office Supply. During his business years, Don was a member of the Portage Jaycees and served a term on the Columbia County Board of Supervisors. He was a member of the Portage Presbyterian Church, and in retirement, Don was a church elder and church treasurer. He also volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels, the American Red Cross Blood Drives and was a member of the Friends of the Library. Don was an avid reader!

Don was survived by his wife, Beverly Lauson; his children, Paula (Daniel) Greco, Crestwood, Kentucky, and Dr. Jeffrey (Mai) Hoffmann, Golden, Colorado; his grandchildren, Benjamin (Erika), Jared and Ryan Greco, and Lien, Kyle, and Connor Hoffmann; his brother, Wayne (Geri) Hoffmann, Waukesha; his sisters, Laurice Hoffmann Bell, Cedarburg, and Dr. Joan Hoffmann (Anne Marie Cullin), Oak Brook, Illinois; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Monday, 12 January at Portage Presbyterian Church where Reverend David Hankins officiated. Military Honors, provided by Portage area veterans, followed the service. Inurnment was private. Visitation was held on Sunday, 20 January at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Monday at the church.

Willian N. Doehling

      William N. Doehling, also known as Bill, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Bend on Tuesday, 22 January 2013. William was 86 years. He was born in Milwaukee on 21 October 1926,son of William E. and Viola (nee Schmunn) Doehling. William attended Milwaukee Lutheran High School. On 21 October 1972, Bill was united in marriage to Doris Johnson at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa. Together they made Wauwatosa their home until 1993 when they moved to Cedar Village in West Bend. Doris preceded Bill in death on 02 December 2000. He served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Bill went on to work for the former Shadbolt and Boyd Tool Company in Milwaukee as a salesman, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Slinger, a former member of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa. Bill was a member of Sons of Norway – Fosselyngen Lodge #82 in Milwaukee.

William was survived by his two children, Kathy (Dale) Reichert of Watertown and Gordon Robinson of Greendale; three grandchildren, Karie (Tony) Wheatley, Andy (April) Reichert, Josh (Denise) Reichert; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Brenna Wheatley and Carter Reichert; one sister, Karla (Donald) Lund of Hartland; sister-in-law, Doris Johnson of Tacoma, Washington; special and close friend, Glenn Bettenhausen of West Bend; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; sister and her husband, Anita and Reverend Chuck Chaviet; and brother in-law, Edward Johnson.

A memorial service in remembrance of Bill was held on Monday, 28 January at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 4860 Arthur Road, Slinger. Visitation was on Monday at the church. Burial of his cremated remains was in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee.

Ronald J. Cada

      Ronald J. Cada, also known as Ron, was born to Eternal Life on Wednesday, 23 January 2013 at the age of 79 years. Ron was born on 02 May 1933.

He was the cherished husband and best friend of Carol (nee Erdmann) for 56 ½ years. Ron was the loving and devoted father of Debbie (Glen) Albrecht, Kevin (Pam) and Karen (David) Koglin. Caring grandpa of Jamie, Jarred, Benjamin, Zachary and great-grandpa of Tierney. He was further survived by other relatives and friends.

Ron retired from Northwestern Mutual after more than 40 years. He was a longtime member of Waukesha County RSVP and a proud Army Korean War veteran.

Visitation was on Tuesday, 29 January prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at St Mary Catholic Church, N89 W16297 Cleveland Avenue, Menomonee Falls. Private entombment took place at St. Mary Church Cemetery.

Thomas F. Pabst

      Thomas F. Pabst, also known as Tom, of Grafton, Ozaukee County,Wisconsin, USA passed away early Tuesday morning at the Lighthouse of West Bend on 22 January 2013. He was 64 years. Tom was born in Milwaukee on Christmas Day, 25 December 1948, son of Raymond and Evelyn (nee Stowasser) Pabst. After school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1972. For 30 years he worked as a metal fabricator at Super Steel in northern Milwaukee. On 28 July 1990, Tom was united in marriage with Cathy Swanson in Mequon. Tom’s wife, Cathy Swanson, was formerly married and went by Cathy Rudie. Swanson is her maiden name. Together, the couple made their home in Grafton, where Tom was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Tom was fascinated with learning about history, the military and the presidents, and took a particular interest in the Civil War, John Adams and Richard Nixon. He enjoyed reading, nature and taking walks. Tom will be remembered for the laughter he brought wherever he went, with his sharp wit and mischievous humor.

Thomas was survived by his wife, Cathy; stepson, Richard Rudie, both of Grafton; and mother-in-law, Sylvia (Al Petajan) Winebrenner of Kewaunee. He was further survived by his sister, Kathy (Daniel) Zeh of Saukville; brother, Kenneth (Carol) Pabst of Menomonee Falls; sister- in-law, Connie (Greg) Boldt of Oshkosh; brother-in-law, Joel (Myrna) Swanson of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service with full military honors was held on Tuesday,05 February at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg. The family received visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Homer W. Schaub

      Homer W. Schaub of Kewaskum, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk on Monday, 28 January 2013, surrounded by his family. Homer was 87 years. He was born in Kewaskum on 19 July 1925, son of William and Freida (nee Bilgo) Schaub. On 08 October 1949, Homer was united in marriage to Mary Slesar at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Mary preceded Homer in death on 13 June 2009. Homer proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and earned a Purple Heart. Following his discharge from the Army, Homer attended barber school in Chicago. He had his own barbershop business in Kewaskum, retiring in 1986 after nearly 40 years of service to area customers.
Homer was a dedicated member of Peace United Church of Christ, a member of the Kewaskum Lions Club for 26 years and a member of the Kewaskum Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 for more than 60 years.

Those Homer left behind to cherish his memory included four children, Jean (Ken) Crass and Judy (Mark) Biertzer both of West Bend, Jim (Tracey) Schaub and Jenny (Dan) Schroeder both of Kewaskum; eight grandchildren, Sara Crass (fiancé, Jason Hull), Kelly Crass, Gabe (Elisa) Biertzer, Ali (Aaron) Christ, Luke (Rachel) Biertzer, Tanner Schaub, Matt Schroeder (Justin Finseth) and Katie Schroeder; three great-grandchildren, Clara and Elsie Christ and Liam Biertzer, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Homer was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah (August) Koch.

A memorial service for Homer was held on Friday, 01 February at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum where Reverend Eric Kirkegaard officiated. Military honor rites by members of the Kewaskum Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 followed the church service. Burial of his cremains was on Saturday in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. The family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Friday.

Robert W. Seebach

      Robert W. Seebach, also known as Bob, 76, of the town of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at Select Specialty Hospital in West Allis on Thursday, 29 March 2007.
Robert was 76 years. He was born in Milwaukee on 27 January 1931, son of Alvin and Lauretta (nee Tenbruck) Seebach. Prior to moving to the town of West Bend, Bob made his home in Wauwatosa. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Dortch during the Korean Conflict. Bob was a member of the Whitefish Bay Alonzo Cudworth American Legion Post 23 and the Slinger F.W. Zunker-Held Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 3358. He proudly served as the town of West Bend chairman from 1983-1997, and again from 1999-2005.

Survivors include relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by the love of his life, Margaret Robertson. He enjoyed working with people and spending time with his canine companion, Skipper.

Funeral services, with military rites, for Bob were held on Thursday, 05 April at the Washington County Memorial Park Chapel in West Bend. Burial followed.

Kenneth Leroy Brown

      Kenneth LeRoy Brown, also known as Ken, has gone home to the Lord after departing at SynergyHealth St. Joseph Hospital in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA on Tuesday 03 April 2007. Ken was 74 years. He was born in Tomah on 04 December 1932, son of Hugh and Dorothy (nee Wright) Brown and raised in that city. Ken served honorably in the United States Army and was involved in both the Korean War and the Berlin Crisis. He lived in St. Charles, Illinois for 30 years, moving to West Bend later in life. Ken was very active in First Baptist Church in West Bend.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth; and his children, Debi (Pat) Zingale of Jackson, Kevin of Waukesha, Angela (Mike) Rodenkirch of Slinger, Jennifer (Phil) Cortez of Illiinois and Kenneth (Lezlie) Brown of Ohio. Papa Brown left behind 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte Brown. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother; a sister; and a great-grandson, Baby Elyjah.

A funeral service was held on Monday 09 April at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend, where Pastor Dunford officiated. Friends and family visitred at the funeral home. Burial was scheduled on Monday at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Park in Union Grove.

Joseph M. Kolkema III

      Joseph M. Kolkema III, also known as Buddy and Joe, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at his residence on Wednesday, 04 April 2007. He was 72 years. Joseph was born in West Bend on 29 May 1934, son of Joseph and Mable (nee Maaske) Kolkema Jr. At the age of 17, Joe followed in his father’s footsteps and went to work at West Bend Equipment Company. Joseph then entered the United States Air Force in 1952 and served in Korea. Upon returning from the service, Joe continued his employment at West Bend Equipment Company. On 22 June 1957, Joe was united in marriage to Jean Schanen at St. Mary Church in Port Washington. In 1997 Joe retired as plant superintendent and purchasing agent from West Bend Equipment Company. He then worked part-time as a security guard at St. Joseph Community Hospital in West Bend. Joe was a life member of the West Bend Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1393 and the West Bend Moose Lodge 1398. He was involved in starting Boy Scout Troop 762 at the Moose Lodge and was very active as a scout leader for many years. Joe also enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.

Survivors included his wife, Jean; five children, Sue (Keith) Stollenwerk of Milwaukee, Cindy (Calvin) Kolkema-Berndt of Shiocton, Debbie (Brian) Schmitt of West Bend, Bruce (fiancŽe Jennifer Roberts) Kolkema of Lincoln, Missouri and Scott (Karen) Kolkema of West Bend; 10 grandchildren, Anita Stollenwerk, Doug (Kimberly) Stollenwerk, Chad Stollenwerk, Chris-topher Kolkema, Cody Berndt, Calvin Berndt Jr., Cailey Berndt, Carrie Jo Schaub, Pacey Kol-kema and Owen Kolkema; eight sisters, Betty Jean (Eugene) Thelen of Grafton, Mary Ann Barsch of Grafton, Gladys (Kenneth) Troedel of West Bend, Donna Mae (Herbert) Timmermann of Kewaskum, Joyce (Kenneth) Endlich of West Bend, Kathrine Bakes of West Bend, Dorothy (Gary) Kittel of Florida and Sandra (Roger) Mayhew of Fredonia; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, 12 April at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sixth Avenue and Decorah Road, West Bend. Visitation was at the church on Thursday. Cremation followed at Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service, West Bend.

Trygve was born in Starkweather, North Dakota on 13 March 1925, son of John and Sverina (nee Myklebust) Bergseth. During World War II, he served with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater. Following his discharge, he returned to North Dakota. After his marriage to June B. Priebe on 28 September 1945, they settled in Devils Lake, North Dakota. The family later settled in Minot, North Dakota. In the late 1970s, he moved to Wisconsin, settling in Washington County. While in the West Bend area, Trygve worked as a maintenance man with Cedar Community and also was employed at the Unity Club and Tennies Hardware.

Survivors included three children Emily (Gilbert) Krueger of West Bend, Lila (Tom) Weltikol of Minot, Trygve, Jr. (Beth Almazan) of Gilbert, Arizona; one daughter-in-law Chris Bergseth of Wauwatosa; eight grandchildren Glenn Krueger, Melisa (John) Martin, Thomas Weltikol, Andrea (Jason) Mattern, Jeremy Weltikol, Elijah (Nikki) Bergseth, Ashley (Chris) Sundsbak and Kristen Weltikol; nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Lena Bergseth of Bath, South Dakota; and other relatives and friends. Trygve was preceded in death by his wife June on 03 February 1979, one son Edward, three brothers Albert, Melvern and Selmar, and a special friend Vivian Bowman.

Funeral service was held on Friday, 08 February at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend. Burial followed in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation was at the funeral home on Friday.

David Zingsheim

David Zingsheim

      David Zingsheim, also known as Dale (1932 - 2013) of Campbellsport, died at Hospice Home of Hope after a lengthy illnesson Tuesday 05 February 2013, with his wife Lois at his side. He was 80 years. Cremation followed. David was born in the Town of Addison on 07 March 1932, son of Leander and Francis Zingsheim. On 17 December 1985, Dale married Lois E. Weiland of St. Kilian. A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the United States Army for two years. After the military, he worked at Gehl Company for 30 years and was a bartender at the Fireside Restaurant, Allenton, for many years.

For the last 26 years, Dale's life has revolved around his business, family, and friends. From 1980-2005, he and Lois owned and operated The Amber Hotel in Campbellsport. Their success at re-establishing The Amber into a local anchor, which served the community and visitors, was a highlight in Dale's life. The business often was chosen for family celebrations and milestones. Friday nights found Dale behind the bar, practicing his lifelong skills as a well-known bartender, ensuring The Amber guests could relax after a long week. In 1989 and 1996, Dale and Lois were presented with the WRA Outstanding Restaurateurs of the Year awards. Dale always held a special place in his heart for his employees and devoted customers.

In his free time, Dale enjoyed his favorite country artist George Jones, humming along to favorite tunes as he pursued hobbies of golfing, fishing and bowling. A fisherman who learned the art from his father, Dale was especially proud of serving the fish he caught and had smoked. Bowling provided a different challenge, with a highlight being a 300 game. He enjoyed his passion for golf with Jack Pesch, his best friend, who was present when Dale scored a hole in one. Whenever possible, the two played many rounds of golf in the Campbellsport area and on the Arizona golf courses. Upon retirement, Dale could be seen mowing the fairways of Auburn Bluffs. Some of the most cherished memories of Dale are how much he enjoyed visiting and sharing good food and drink with all who spent time with him. In addition to his business life, Dale was a member of the Allenton FOHL-Martin American Legion Post 483, the Campbellsport Lions Club, Campbellsport Chamber of Commerce, St. Matthew's Parish, and served two terms on the Campbellsport Village Board.

Dale was survived by Lois, his spouse of 28 years; his six children: Paul (Amy) of Jackson; Pattie Stoffel of Whitefish Bay; Steve (special friend Val) of Slinger; Sandy (Joe) Wisth of Hartford; Scott (Brenda) of Grayslake, Illinois; and Pam O'Hearn (special friend Jeff) of Fond du Lac; his grandchildren Aaron, Amanda, Nicki, Brett, Christopher, Kristy, Gabriel, Alexandria, Savannah, Olivia, Samantha, and Justin; his great-grandchildren Kayle, William, Wesley, Chase and Bentley; his sisters Marian Pfeifer of Kewaskum; Joan (Sonny) Held of Neosho; Joyce Hart of West Bend; his brother Gerald (Judy) of Minocqua; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Weiland of St. Kilian; sisters-in-law Diane Weiland of Mt. Calvary; Jane (Jim) Hutchinson of Pickett, and brother-in-law, Pat Hare of St. Kilian, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Leander Zingsheim; his brother Richard; brothers-in-law Dale Hart and Bill Pfeifer; father-in-law Leander O. Weiland; sister-in-law Bonnie Weiland-Hare; and his good golfing buddy Jack Pesch.

Visitation was on Saturday, 09 February at Twohig Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, Campbellsport. A service celebrating Dale's life, and military rites, was held at the funeral home.

Dale G. Hart

      Dale G. Hart of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the Life Care Hospital in Pewaukee on Monday, 21 July 2008. He was 77 years. Dale was born in Allenton on 03 February 1931, son of Edward and Sylvia (nee Mueller) Hart. Following high school, Dale enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. Upon his return, Dale began driving truck for Don’s Elevator in Allenton. He later drove truck for Farmers’ Inc. before retiring at the age of 65. Dale was united in marriage to Joyce Zingshem on 19 October 1968 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan, and loved fishing year round. Dale was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend.

Dale was survived by his wife, Joyce Hart of West Bend; his daughter, Deborah Hart of West Bend and her boy friend Michael Rollo; his mother, Sylvia Bucher of Walnut Creek, California; two sisters, LaVerne Coon of Jamestown, California, and Mardell (Francis) Ahyee of Walnut Creek, California; and a brother, Fr. Richard Hart of Milwaukee. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale (Lois) Zingshem of Campbellsport, Marion Pfeifer of Kewaskum, Gerald (Judy) Zingshem of Minocqua, Joanne (Walter Jr.) Held of Neosho, and Mary Ann Zingshem of Hartford; and many other dear relatives and close friends. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Edward; his stepfather, Paul Bucher; his parents-in-law, Leander (Frances) Zingshem; and his brothers-in-law, Tom Coon, William Pfeifer, Richard Zingshem.

A Mass of Christian burial in honor of Dale was held on Thursday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. his brother Fr. Richard Hart will be the celebrant. Visitation was at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home on Thursday. Burial took place on Friday in Holy Angels Catholic Cemetery.

David H. Mathias

M, b. 22 November 1937, d. 10 February 2013
      David H. Mathias, also known as Dave, of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA found eternal peace with his lord and savior in heaven at the age of 75 years on Sunday, 10 February 2013. Dave was born on 22 November 1937, son of Douglas and Loraine (nee Hohner) Mathias of Shorewood. He graduated from Shorewood High School in 1955. Dave served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1959, achieving the rank of sergeant. He was stationed in Heidelburg, Germany. Upon his return, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dave married Kathleen Pallen on 03 June 1961. They started their family in Brown Deer, where Dave served his community as an alderman, commissioner and president of the local Jaycees chapter. Together, Dave and Kathy made their permanent home, family and life in Cedarburg in 1977. Dave loved and committed himself to his family and friends; to his extended family at Scot Pump Company of Cedarburg where he served as vice president and general manager for 50 years; to his community which he served through the Cedarburg Rotary Club; and to the game of golf. He was often in the seats and bleachers of his children’s and grandchildren’s tennis, swim, volleyball and track meets; dance recitals and dance team competitions and basketball games. Dave was a Paul Harris fellow in the Cedarburg Rotary Club having served as president in 1990-91. He remained active in the club until his death. When Dave wasn’t planning or attending a family-related event or serving a Rotary function or running Scot Pump or at his home in
Florida, he was probably on a golf course somewhere in the world. Though he did not take up the game until age 50, Dave had the privilege of playing every one of Golf Digest's 1998 and 1999 Top 100 U.S. Courses and many of Scotland's epic courses. He shared his passion for the game and six holes in one with his children, grandchildren and many friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Robert. He was survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen; his son, Daniel (Lori) of Cedarburg; his daughter, Laurie (Kirk) Thompson of Fox River Grove, Illinois; his daughter, Suzanne Kummet (Tim Spilde) of Wauwatosa; his son, Robert (Kris) of Grafton; grandchildren, Katie and Julia (Thompson), Natalie and Allison Mathias, Collin, Ethen and Brandi Mathias; brother, Richard of Chevy Chase, Maryland; and brother, Stuart (Marci) of Whitefish Bay. He was further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

An open house to remember and celebrate Dave’s life was held Wednesday, 13 February at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg.

Herbert L. Kirst

      Herbert L. Kirst, also known as Herb, of Newburg, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA died at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, 05 February 2013. He was 87 years. Herbert was born in Newburg on 02 February 1926, son of Frank and Anna (nee Kraus) Kirst. Herbert married Emilie H. Gerek at Holy Angels Church in West Bend on 10 September 1949. He played baseball and football while a student at West Bend High School and became a star pitcher for the Land O’ Lakes baseball team. Herb served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater as a Ships Cook 3rd Class. Following his discharge, he became a co-owner of Kirst Meat Market in Newburg before working in the meat department at Paulus Foods in Cedarburg until retiring. Herb was a pitch-perfect tenor and enjoyed singing in the church choir at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg, with a barber shop group and for many years was a member of the Newburg Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Herb was a member of the Waubeka Flag Day Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7037 where he served as a chaplain. For over 50 years, Herb proudly placed flags on the graves of our military veterans in four cemeteries and was recognized for his efforts by proclamation by the Washington County Board. He took pride in his service to our country and was able to see the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Herb was survived by his wife of 63 years, Emilie; his four children, Cynthia (Dennis) Backhaus of the Town of Trenton, Pamela (John) Meyer of Sussex, Paulette (Brian) Kelley of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Thomas (Kathleen) Kirst of Madison; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Jae Hah) Backhaus of Queens, New York, Dan (Nicole Johnson) Backhaus of Brooklyn, New York, Jenn (Kevin) Wagner of West Bend, Jarrod (Sigrun) Meyer of Sussex, John Meyer of Sussex, Patrick Kirst of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Natalie Kirst of Columbia, Missouri. He was further survived by his two great-grandchildren, Jonah and Elsa Wagner; a sister-in-law, Laverne Gerek of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Frank (Donna Rae) Gerek of Apache Junction, Arizona; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Kirst; and four siblings, Lillian Blazel, Dorothy Dorn, Willard Kirst and Jerome Kirst.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, 09 February at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend where Reverend Gerald Brittain presided. Visitation was Saturday at the church.

Alan H. Buttke

      Alan H. Buttke, also known as Al, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at St. Luke Medical Center in Milwaukee on Sunday, 10 February 2013. He was 62 years. Alan was born in Black River Falls on 04 April 1950, son of Harry and Donnah (nee Larson) Buttke. Al served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He lived in Jackson before moving to West Bend in 1978. Alan worked at Schlief’s, Goodyear Tire, and Wallas Wheel & Tire as a mechanic. Al was a member of the American Motors Car Club and raced cars at Slinger Speedway and Great Lakes Dragway. He also enjoyed playing the electric guitar.

Alan was survived by his son, Dean (fiancée, Cassi Griepentrog) Buttke of Slinger; his sister, Alana (Leslie) Dalton of West Bend; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service in remembrance of Al was held on Monday, 18 February at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 West Washington Street, West Bend. Reverend Jeremy Deaner officiated.

Visitation was at the funeral home on Monday.

Andrew J. Weninger Jr.

      Andrew Weninger Jr., also known as Andy, of Lac Du Flambeau, passed away at the age of 81 years at his residence on 14 February 2013. Andy was born on 01 February 1932, son of Andrew and Mary (nee Schmidt) Weninger. He worked on the family farm in Nabob,Dodge County and graduated from West Bend High School. Andrew proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Shortly after his honorable discharge, he joined the Milwaukee Fire Department and worked there for 30 years, then retired to his new home in Squaw Lake near Lac Du Flambeau. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, downhill skiing in the western states and golfing in his later years. Andy also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Andrew was survived by his sisters; Margaret (Franklin) Bales and Marian Vogt, sister-in-law Ethel Weninger, 25 nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe, brother- in-law Denis Vogt, and three nephews Nick Vogt, Paul Bales and Allan Weninger.

A funeral service for Andy was on Tuesday, 19 February at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA were Reverend Richard Stoffel presided. Interment took place at St. Mathias Cemetery Nabob.

Visitation was at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Robert James Boylan

      Robert James Boylan, also known as Bob, 66, born 14 July 1946. Robert passed away on 08 February 2013. Bob was 66 years. He was a resident of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA and snow bird of Fort Myers, Florida. Robert was survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Nancy (Kupfer) Boylan; son, Eric (Robyn) Boylan of Eagle, Colorado; and daughter, Amy (Mark) Cain of Brookfield, Wisconsin; and four wonderful grandsons, Brian and Joey Cain and Ayden and Max Boylan. He was also survived by his brother, John (Geri) Boylan; sister-in-law, Carol (Glenn) Young; brother-in-law, John (Cheryl) Kupfer; uncle, Ralph (Joy) Hauser; and cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Helen (Hauser) Boylan.

Bob was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an Army veteran. He traveled the world, enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people. Robert truly loved everyone he met. His passions were his family, travel, gardening and painting, spending time with his grandsons, and being on the water or at a beach.

The family will have a private service and scatter his ashes at sea. His life will be celebrated at a gathering in Wisconsin in early May.

Roger J. Hanson

      Roger J. Hanson of Germantown, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away on Sunday, 17 February 2013, following a longtime illness of multiple strokes and lung cancer at Cedar Springs Health and Rehab in Cedarburg at the age of 64 years. Best friend and husband of Gail (nee Graczyk) for 28 years. Loving brother of Joanne (Patrick) Shallow, Mike, Ron, and Patricia Hanson. Beloved son-in-law of Matthew and Jenny Graczyk. Dear brother-in-law of Stan and Tony (Connie) Graczyk. He will be deeply missed by his cats Agatha and Christie. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Bette (nee Hawkey) Hanson, brother Jimmy, nephew Michael Shallow, and niece Michelle Shallow Boyd.

Roger was a proud Army veteran and served from 1965-1970. He was a member of Coleman American Legion Post 280. After serving in the Army, Roger worked his whole life in the transportation industry.

Visitation was on on Sunday, 24 February at the Funeral Home followed by Time of Celebration.

Roger F. Krell

      Roger F. Krell of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA died at The Kathy Hospice on Tuesday, 19 February 2013. He was 76 years. Roger was born in Newburg on 26 September 1936, son of Sylvester and Dorothy (nee Monday) Krell. After graduating from West Bend High School with the class of 1954, he started working for Mercury Marine. Roger then volunteered for the draft and was drafted into the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, he returned to Newburg and resumed working at Mercury Marine. On Sept. 5, 1964, Roger was united in marriage to Judith Strenke at Holy Angels Catholic Church. The couple made their home in West Bend. In 1998, he retired from Mercury Marine after more than 43 years of loyal service. Roger was a member of the 1954 class reunion committee, member and past president for 13 years of the Newburg Lions Club, member of the Newburg Fire Department Athletic Club and was a member for more than 55 years of the Newburg Fire Department.

Survivors included his wife Judith; two brothers Ronald and Ellis both of West Bend; one sister Mary Rose (Donald A.) Smith of West Bend; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his parents-in-law Joseph and Emily Strenke and one sister-in-law Jane Casper.

At the family’s request, private services was held.
