Robert Ledwith

M, b. 27 February 1924, d. 10 March 2013
      Robert Ledwith, also known as Bob, of West Bend, Washington County,Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 89 years on Sunday, 10 March 2013 at Friendship House at Cedar Community with his loving wife at his side. Robert was born in Schenectady, New York on 27 February 1924, son of Fedor and Olive (nee Holton) Ledwith. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force, serving as a navigator on B24s, based in Italy. After his World War II service, he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating from Law School in 1951. While at Madison, he met his wife, Betty Potts. They were married on 26 August 1950 and had 62 happy years together.
Bob found his vocational niche in bank trust work, working for National City Bank in Cleveland, Merchants National Bank in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Peoples Marine Bank in Green Bay and retiring in 1989 as a vice president of Bank One Wisconsin Trust Company. Upon retirement, Bob and Betty moved to Cedar Community in West Bend where they were active in community activities. Bob especially enjoyed their woodworking shop and spent many happy hours there constructing and refinishing furniture. He was a perfectionist and his work showed it. His quiet disposition and lovely smile was missed bu all. May he rest in peace.

Robert was survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Barbara (Steve) Prust of West Bend; son, Jim (Carol) Ledwith of Oshkosh; son-in-law, Dennis Smith of Audubon, Iowa; four grandchildren, John (Lauren) Prust of Escondido, California, Jenna (Adam) Glorioso of Pewaukee. Greg Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Lyndi (Chris) Bieber of Marion, Iowa; two stepgrandchildren, Nicole (Mark) Binder of Omro, and Chad (special friend, Kristin) Gunther of Oshkosh; four great-grandchildren, Gavin and Ella Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Eli and Carissa Binder of Omro; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Nancy Smith, and a sister, Ruth Velie.

A memorial service in remembrance of Bob was held on Monday, 18 March at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 323 South Fifth Avenue in West Bend where Reverend Wesley Falk officiated. A reception followed the service. Visitation was at the church on Monday prior to the service. Burial of his cremated was in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

Leonard Salvatore Marrese

M, b. 22 January 1921, d. 11 March 2013
      Leonard Salvatore Marrese, also known as Sam, of Cedarburg, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years at the Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg Monday, 11 March 2013. Leonard was born in Brooklyn, New York on 12 January 1921, son of Anthony and Stella (DiLorenzo) Marrese. He graduated from high school in Mayville. Sam served his county in the United States Army during World War II seeing duty in the Aleutian Islands and Central Europe (Germany). On 24 November 1951, Sam married Bess Angelos in Beaver Dam. Bess preceded him in death on 08 February 1999. He was a cheesemaker. Sam owned and operated the London Cheese Factory for many years. Later, Sam and Bess ran the London Cheese Cellar in Cambridge. Sam was a longtime member and served on the board of trustees at the London Moravian Church. Sam loved sports. He played baseball, bowled for years in Cambridge, Stoughton and Grafton and bowled a sanctioned 300 game in 1986. Sam golfed and always enjoyed a good day at Potawatomi. He loved Italian food, but most of all he loved being with this family.

Leonard was survived by three daughters, Rosanne "Becky" (Jon) Tuttle of Fort Atkinson, Gina (Norbert Jr.) Studelska of Grafton and Staci (Scott) Marrese-Wheeler of McFarland; and a son, Spencer Marrese of Seattle; a brother, Frank (Ann Mae) Marrese of Lomira; two sisters, Mary Geerts of Waterford and Nancy Smrcina of Pewaukee; seven grandchildren, Nicholas (Diana) Probst of Stoughton, Anthony Probst of Paraguay, Dustin Studelska of Minneapolis, Madeline Studelska of St. Paul, Sam Marrese-Wheeler of McFarland, Sky (Morgan) Marrese of Munfordville, Kentucky, and Daniel (Holly) Marrese of Louisville, Kentucky; four great-grandchildren, Ayden and Elia Probst of Stoughton, Dixie Marrese of Munfordville, Kentucky, and Mason Marrese of Louisville, Kentucky. He was further survived by many loved nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bess; and four sisters, an infant, Anna Rose, Angelina Habel and Connie Graf.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, 16 March at London Moravian Church in London, Wiscomsin where Reverend Jane Follmer Zekoff officiated. Interment took place in Kroghville Cemetery in the town of Lake Mills. Friends called on Saturday morning at the London Moravian Church.

Stanley Louis Hirschmann

      Stanley Louis Hirschmann, also known as Stan, of Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 88 years on Thursday 07 March 2013. Stan will be missed by his wife of over 60 years Carla, son David Sr., grandson David Jr. and wife Shannon and great-grandson Keagan, granddaughter Sheri and friend Marie, brother-in-law Hans, nephew Gary and niece Tammy.

Stanley was a decorated WWII veteran and member of the Cudworth American Legion Post. He was in sales at H.C. Miller Printing Co. and a Past Grand Master of Excelsior Lodge no. 175 F. & A.M. A Private family graveside service was held at Wisconsin Memorial Park as a final tribute to Stan.

Norbert A. Hennig

      A funeral service was held on Saturday, 16 March 2013, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jackson, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA for Norbert A. Hennig. Norbert was born in Jackson on 31 March 1925, son of Henry Hennig and Louisa (nee Schoenbeck) Hennig. He served in the United States Army.

Norbert was survived by his wife, Marie (nee Kelln) Muente-Hennig; daughter, Barbara (Robert) Miller; daughter-in-law, Dawn Muente; and sister, Norma Groth. Norbert was further survived by eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-sons, Thomas and William Muente; and brother, Edgar Hennig.

John C. Torbeck

      John C. Torbeck, also known as Jack, died peacefully at the age of 85 years at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA on Saturday, 16 March 2013. Jack had resided at Lasata for the past year. John was born in Milwaukee on 18 November 1927, son of Edward and Hedwig "Hattie" (nee Sager) Torbeck. After graduating from North Division High School, Jack entered the United States Army. He was a private first class, serving from February 1946 to May 1947 in Italy. Upon returning to Milwaukee, Jack married the love of his life, Marion Rocco, also of Milwaukee. Together they made their house a home, raising three children. For over 40 years, Jack was a meter reader for the Wisconsin Gas Company (We Energies). He liked to keep busy after retirement by fixing small engines at his home. He really enjoyed fishing and would do so whenever he had the chance with family and friends. In the past few years, Jack and Marion lived in Ozaukee County, spending quite a few years at the Maple Crest Apartments in Port Washington.

Jack was survived by his loving wife, Marion, of Lasata Crossings in Cedarburg; daughter, Patty (Dan) Gilbert of Grafton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice (the late Jim) Garfield of Milwaukee and Donna Lidner of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; deceased son Daniel’s dear friend, Denise Knoten of Oconomowoc; daughter-in-law, Kathy Torbeck of Eau Claire; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gregg Torbeck and Daniel Torbeck; sisters, Arlene, Betty and Joyce; and his brothers, Edward, Richard, Robert and James.

Jack’s memorial service was held on Friday, 23 March at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 166 West Dekora Street, Saukville. Pastor Rebecca Johnston officiated. Family received friends on Friday at the church.

Ronald M. Froelich

      Ronald M. Froehlich of West Bend, Washington Country, Wisconsin, USA died at the age of 50 years in Waupun on Wednesday, 06 March 2013. Ronald was born in Milwaukee on 13 September 1962, son of Thomas and Suzette (nee Fowler) Froehlich. He served in the United States Army. Throughout his life, Ronald enjoyed fishing. He fished at many different places including the Behring Sea off the coast of Alaska.

Survivors include three children: Tasha (Mike) Radloff, Terri Jo (Luke) Matyske and Cody; two grandchildren; his mother Suzette Harris, his father Thomas (Judy Brogli) Froehlich; two brothers Steven (Tracy) and Marlon; his paternal grandmother Lucy Timm; aunts and uncles Judy Buda, Bill (Mary Jo) Fowler, Gary (Joy) Froehlich and Tom Szydel; long-time friends Donny and Debbie Barrett; special friend Julie Skenandore; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Ronald was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Helen and Vernon Fowler, his paternal grandfather Howard Froehlich, his step-father Ted Harris, an uncle Vernon Fowler, and an aunt Diana Szydel.

A celebration of Ron’s life was held at a later date.

Frank Schneider Jr.

      Frank Schneider Jr. went home to be with the Lord at his residence at the age of 87 years on Tuesday, 12 March 2013. Frank was born in Czechoslovakia on 29 June 1925, son of Frank, Sr. and Frances (nee Bartk) Schneider. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Frank loved fishing and hunting and he also enjoyed dancing and swimming. Frank was an avid Brewer fan and loved “da Pack.” His first love was his wife and his family.

Frank was survived by his children, Frank (Debbie) Schneider, Annette Ferrante, Karin (Glenn) Buttke, Paul (DeeDee) Schneider and Joanne Miller; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ott of Newberry, Michigan. He was further survived by other relatives and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (nee Churka); and son, Mark Andrew.

A Funeral Service was held on Monday, 25 March at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend) where Reverend Enrique Hernandez presided. The visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday. Interment took place at Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Paul R. Ponfil

M, b. 02 October 1929, d. 19 March 2013
      Paul R. Ponfil, of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Crivitz, passed away at his home at the age of 83 years on Tuesday evening, 19 March 2013. Paul was born in Crivitz, Marinette County, on 02 October 1929, son of Anton and Mary (nee Porfilio) Ponfil. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. On 29 August 1953, Paul was united in marriage with Jean Lohff in Crivitz. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2001. Paul was a founder and partner of R & R Excavating and Bulldozing, and in business for 55 years. Some of R & R’s contributions to Ozaukee County include Rotary Park, MATC, Concordia University Wisconsin, along with many subdivisions and roadways. He was dedicated to his career and passionate about the work he did. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed hunting and trout fishing.

Paul was survived by his children, Scott (Jean) of Grafton and Melissa (Roger) Bardo of Manitowoc; and grandchildren, Jamie Raess and Cody Sheveland. He was further survived by his sisters, Helen Franzen, Louise Sprouse and Donna Martens, all of Crivitz, Aggie Witak of Peshtigo, and Vi Dart of Green Bay; sisterin- law, Lynda Ponfil of Port Washington; special friends, Bill and Jane Frederick of Oak Creek; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents, Anton and Mary Ponfil; and brother, Ronald Ponfil.

Funeral services were held on Friday, 22 March at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Avenue in Cedarburg. Paul was laid to rest with military honors at Zur Ruhe Cemetery, Cedarburg. The family received visitors at the funeral home on Friday morning.

George J. Goschey

      George J. Goschey died at the ae of 86 years at the Heartland Orange Park Rehab Center in Orange Park, Florida on Tuesday, 19 March 2013. Geoirge was born in Saukville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA on 12 October 1926, son of John P. and Mary (nee Thill) Goschey. On 27 February 1954, he was united in marriage to Nancy Hilton at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. George was a World War II veteran. He was employed at Bolens in Port Washington for many years. George lived in West Bend up until two years ago when he and his wife moved to Green Cove Springs, Florida.

George was survived by his wife, Nancy, and his children, Debbie (Peter) Fritz, Linda (Glen/Buck) Haeuser, and Sandy (Curt) Breaux. He was further survived by his grandchildren, Jessie (Jason) Neitzel, Heather (Levi) Prewitt, Nicole (Mark) Riddick, Melissa Haeuser, Courtney Haeuser (fiancé Patrick Heiman), Ellisha Haeuser, and Elizabeth Breaux (fiancé Mike Stinchcomb); his great-grandchildren, Stella and Hank Neitzel, Seth, Olivia and Noah Prewitt, Jacob and Mathew Riddick, Ethan Sowin, and Lexie Heiman; his sister, Dolores Skalla; and other nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Natalie Jean Riddick; sisters, Rose Meunier, Mathilda Rady, Adeline Pfalz, Florence Rady, Marie Behrens; a brother, Arnold Goschey; and a nephew, Dennis Rady.

Cremation had taken place. A a private grave-site service at Holy Angels Cemetery is schedulted for a later date.

Donald C. Hoffman

      Longtime Thiensville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA resident Donald C. Hoffman, also known as Don, was born to eternal life at the age of 84 years on Thursday, 21 March 2013. Don was born on 26 February 1929, son of Clarence and Inez Hoffman. He married Carol Eisch on 16 October 1954 in Green Bay. They moved to Thiensville in 1964. Don was a United States Army veteran and the former comptroller at Concours Motors with over 30 years of service.

Donald was survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol; son, Brian (Linda) Hoffman of Milwaukee; grandson, Joel (Amanda) Cohen of Fox Point; great-grandson, Alan Cohen of Fox Point; and inlaws, George Ovans of Shawano, Gene (Pat) Eisch of De Pere and Ihla (Marty) Zehren of Green Bay. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews along with other relatives and many great friends. Don was preceded in death by his son, Brent Hoffman; and his sister, Bernie Ovans.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, 23 March 2013, at Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Thiensville. Burial was at Allouez Catholic Cemetery in Allouez, next to his son, Brent.

Thomas C. Roy Jr.

      Thomas C. Roy Jr., also known as Tom, of Grafton, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away peacefully at Columbia St. Mary Ozaukee Campus at the age of 86 years on Thursday, 21 March 2013. Tom was born in Milwaukee on 09 September 1926, son of Thomas C. Sr. and Mary (nee Jonas) Roy. He married Lorraine Dahmer at St. Clement Parish in Sheboygan on 08 January 1949. Tom was a member of the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355 for 46 years and was a longtime employee at Automotive & Aircraft in Cedarburg.

Thomas was survived by his wife, Lorraine of Grafton; children, Thomas (Carin) Roy III of Warsaw, Indiana, Timothy (Colleen) of Omro, Therese (George) Mikulski of Kenosha, Tracey (Cindi) of West Bend, Todd (Barb) of Grafton, Tammy (Robert) Harrison of Fredonia, Trudy (Mark) Greenwood of Grafton and Tony (Kris) of Fredonia; and a sister, Betty Verhulst of Sheboygan. He was further survived by 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by one sister.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, 02 April at Mueller Funeral Home, 979 North Green Bay Road, Grafton. Family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Roman Bladzik

      Roman Bladzik of Lincoln Boulevard in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at Cedar Springs in Cedarburg at 83 years early Sunday morning, 24 March 2013. Roman was born in Milwaukee on 10 August 1929, son of John and Ann (nee Bloegett) Bladzik. Following his schooling, he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On 17 March 1953, he was united in marriage with Carol Hendricks in Chicago, Illinois. Roman was a material handler at Caterpillar in Milwaukee, retiring in 1985 after more than 30 years of service. Roman and Carol moved to South Carolina, then moved to Fredonia in 1998. They later moved to Cedarburg in 2007. Roman loved gardening and had flower and vegetable gardens wherever he lived. He especially loved tending his rose bushes. Roman also enjoyed animals of all kinds. He was a quiet, thoughtful man who enjoyed helping others.

Roman was survived by his wife, Carol of Cedarburg; their four children, R.J (Susan) Bladzik of Anderson, South Carolina, Randy (Rhonda) Bladzik of New Ulm, Minnesota, Carla (Kendall) Thistle of Fredonia and Cheryl (Roger) Rodeghier of Sussex. He was further survived by nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugene (Pat) Bladzik of Oak Creek; a sister, Patricia Schwartz of South Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on 26 March at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg. Rita Bert presided. The family received visitors at the Funeral Home.

Dustin Joshua Heyn

M, b. 14 December 1982, d. 22 March 2013
      Dustin Joshua Heyn of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA found peace with his Lord at the age of 30 years and set his journey to Heaven 22 March 2013. Dustin was born in Tucson, Arizona on 14 December 1982. He attended grade school there and graduated from Vail High School outside of Tucson. After high school he worked as a plumber’s assistant in new home construction. In August 2004, Dustin decided to move to Wisconsin to be with his mother and family. He was a student at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County where his goal was to major in botany. While living in Wisconsin, Dustin enjoyed the outdoors, helping plant the family garden and trees in the yard. He had a great love for the family dog, Gunner, who was constantly at his side. Most of all, he enjoyed being outdoors regardless of the season; hiking, camping, fishing in the summer with his mom and his brother Eric, hunting in the fall with Craig, and ice fishing in the winter with his brother Eric and his friend Andy. Needless to say, Gunner was always right there, too. Dustin along with his brother also liked to debate football, especially with Craig.

Dustin served in the United States Army Infantry for approximately two years. In 2011, Dustin decided to relocate to Marseilles, France where he joined the French Foreign Legion exploring the surrounding countryside, making new friends and enjoying the European culture. While in France, he improved his French vocabulary, which he had studied prior to leaving Wisconsin. Due to a knee injury, Dustin returned to West Bend in the spring of 2012. In the fall of that year, Dustin met Mackenzi Polzin and they became fast friends and soon after became engaged. At the time of his passing, Dustin was employed as a maintenance and grounds person with Deer Crossings of West Bend.

Dustin was survived by his mother, Pamela Stiver; his cherished brother, Eric Graham; his friend and hunting partner, Craig Wentz; aunts and uncles: Robert (Laurene) Heyn of Hiles, Wisconsin; Patricia (Wesley) Brown of West Bend; Richard (Ronda) Heyn of Alburn, Washington; Sandra Heyn of West Bend, and David Heyn of Alburn, Washington. He was also survived by his fiance, Mackenzi Polzin; his stepfather, Terry Graham; and many cousins and friends.

A memorial service for Dustin was held on Friday, 05 April at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive in West Bend. Gathering took place at the funeral home that sdame day.

Thomas F. Abbott

      Thomas F. Abbott, also known as Tommy of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away unexpectedly at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford on Wednesday, 20 February 2013. He was 74 years. Tommy was born in Hartford on 18 October 1938, son of Douglas and Lucille (nee Wagner) Abbott. He was united in marriage to Delores Kuehl on 27 December 1958 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. Tommy and Delores owned and operated Tommy’s Corner Tap in Hartford for 45 years. He was a member of St. Kilian Church, the Washington County Tavern League and the Pike Lake Sportsman Club. Tommy was the longstanding president of the Duo County Pool League. He shot pool, loved hunting and loved the Game Show Network. He would watch it every day without exception. Tommy loved bartending at his tavern because it gave him the opportunity to socialize. He loved spending time up north at their cabin in Eagle River. Tommy loved his family deeply and was so proud of his grandchildren and cherished their time together.

Tomas was survived by his children, Randall (Sandy) Abbott of Hartford, Lisa (John) Alves of Hartford, Pamela Davis (special friend Ben) of California and Thomas (Becky) Abbott of Slinger; his grandchildren, Nicole (Michael), Ryan, Rachel (special friend Gage), Jason, Meghan, Anna, Katelyn, Aidan, and Ryder; his great-grandchildren, Ava and Blake; his sisters and brothers, Dorothy (Tom) Waddell of Iowa, Douglas (Sue) Abbott of Waukesha, Dianne Abbott of California, and Richard (Mary) Abbott of Hartford; and his brothers and sisters- in-law, Darlene (Michael) Wagner of Hartford, Doris (Don) Lechner of Hartford, Russell Kuehl of Hartford and Lenore Abbott of Cudahy. He was further survived by Pat Grissman, (special friend of Roger Kuehl), nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Also special mention to his neighbors, Donna Koch, Jayne Lemminger and John Steinhofer. Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Delores, his parents, Douglas and Lucille Abbott, his brother, Donald Abbott, his parents- in-law, Clarence and Gertrude Kuehl, and his brothers-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Kuehl and Roger Kuehl.

Mass of Christian Burial for Tommy was held on Tuesday, 26 February 2013 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford where Reverend. David LaPlante officiated. Interment took place at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford.

Visitation was on Monday evening at St. Kilian Church and on Tuesday morning also at the church.

Dr. Rube Hyman Paler

      Dr. Rube H. Paler of Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away peacefully at the age of 95 years on Saturday, 30 March 2013 surrounded by his beloved family. Dr. Paler was survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Esther Berg, sons Ronald (Shari Kaplan), Bruce (Sandra) and daughter-in-law Debra Paler. He was a caring grandfather of Laura, Scott (Dorothy), Brian, Steve (Tanya) Paler and proud great-grandfather of Lucy, Maggie and Hannah. Preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses Jeanne (Paul) Leeb and Eli (Bernice) Paler. Further survived by many other cherished relatives and friends.

Dr. Paler graduated from North Division High School, Marquette University and was a member of Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. He was a dentist in the Milwaukee area for over 50 years after serving in Eruope as a lieutenant in the United States Army during WWII. Graveside service was held on Tuesday, 02 April at Second Home Cemetery, 3705 South 43 Street, Milwaukee.

Darwin Walter Bruessel

      Darwin Walter Bruessel, also known as Darky, of Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin,USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years on Sunday, 07 April 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy A. Barden. Darwin was the step-father of Sharon Thielecke and Dale (Barbara) Pratt. Proud step-grandfather of the late Gary (Connie) and Paul (Emily) Thielecke, Robin (Todd) Taylor, Christopher (Rochelle) Pratt, Kate (Adam) Wachs and 9 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Lloyd and Audrey (Russ) Johnson. Darwin was further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family received friends at Christ Church, 13460 North Port Washington Road in Mequon on Wednesday, 10 April with Funeral Services following. The entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park was private for the family.

Darky retired from A.O. Smith Corporation after 28 years of service as an Inspection Supervisor. He was a past commander of the VFW Post #8292, member of American Legion M.O.C. Post 28, the Mequon Thiensville Lions Club and the Reinesche Vereine German Society. He always enjoyed playing Santa for children. Darky was a United States Army WWII Veteran, having served with the 7th Army in Germany. He greatly enjoyed his Honor Flight Experience.

Leroy J. Beischer

      LeRoy J. Beischer, also known as Lee, of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away peacefully at the ageof 81 years on 27 March 2013 at Horizon Hospice, in Mequon. Lee was born in Milwaukee on 21 January 1932, son of Peter and Margaret (nee Wiczynski) Beischer. He graduated from Rufus King High School in 1950 where he met his future wife, Joan. Lee served his country in the United States Navy from March of 1951 through March of 1955. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the Navy, Lee attended MSOE. He was united in marriage to Joan Bischof on 10 September 1955 at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Their marriage was blessed with four sons, Paul, Mark, Peter, and Robert. Lee and Joan bought their first home in Brown Deer where they resided for nine years and then moved to Cedarburg where they enjoyed living for the past 46 years. Lee was employed by Erie Controls as an international sales manager for 25 years. Throughout his many years at Erie Controls, he traveled abroad, visiting Africa, Australia, Israel, the Orient, and the United States. After retiring from Erie Controls, Lee and Joan spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona, spending memorable times with their son, Paul, and his wife, Lisa. Lee enjoyed reading, playing cards with friends, golfing with his buddies, as well as spending time at the 19th hole. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family at the family cottage at Lake Poygan. Lee was a fun-loving guy, who had a great sense of humor and a quick wit about him. He will be truly missed by all the people who he touched throughout his 81 years. Lee was a member at Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg for 45 years and he was also a member of the Cedarburg Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288.

Lee was survived by his beloved wife, Joan; sons, Paul (Lisa) Beischer, Mark (RoRo) Beischer, Peter (Gail) Beischer and Robert (Marci Jacobs) Beischer; grandchildren, Anna, Sarah, Matthew, Mia, Madalyn and Jacob Beischer; and sister-in-law, Diane (Richard) Fowler. He was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

Lee was laid to rest at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg. There was later held a celebration of Lee’s life in Cedarburg.

Donald H. Riley

      Donald H. Riley, also known as Don, of Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 91 years on Saturday, 30 March 2013 at the Cedar Lake Home Hospice in West Bend. Donald was born in Hartford on 31 August 1921, son of Abner and Ida (nee Trapp) Riley. He was united in marriage to Elsie Schulz on 02 May 1942 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nenno, Wisconsin. Don was a World War II veteran serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with Battery C 210th Field Artillery Battalion, 33rd Division. He was a member of the Hartford Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 8834. Don attended South Side School and Hartford High School Class of 1940. While still in high school, he worked as a meat-cutter at a local market, and later enjoyed a long career as a salesman with the Armour Meat Company. He also taught clock repair at MATC for many years. Don was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Kilian Parish. Don enjoyed repairing clocks and watches, flea markets, wood-working, music, and spending time with family and friends. He especially looked forward to his daily visits with his great-grandchildren.

Donald was survived by his daughter, Sharon (Paul) Speiser of Hartford; Sharon’s mother Elsie Riley of Hartford; grandchildren: Michelle Speiser of Milwaukee, Paul Speiser of Princeton, N.J., Ryan (Karen) Speiser of West Bend and Juliana (Charles) Geraghty of Menomonee Falls; great-grandchildren: Adelynn Speiser, Sophia and Liam Geraghty; and his sister Helen (Donald) Stoiber of Sun Prairie. He was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Walter, Robert and Gordon, and his sisters Gladys Wagner and Jean Hahn.

Memorial funeral services for Don were held on Friday, 05 April at St. Kilian Catholic Church where Reverend David LaPlante officiated. The family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Friday. Inurnment took place in St. Kilian Cemetery.

Donald Peter Schulteis

      Donald Peter Schulteis, also known as Buddy, passed away at at the age of 88 years on Tuesday, 02 April 2013. Buddy was born in Germantown, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA on 18 January 1925, son of Clarence and Antoinette (nee Schneider) Schulteis. He married Doris Beck on 19 April 1952 at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Hubertus. Buddy was a longtime member of the Jackson Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 486 and the Jackson Seniors. He was a member of St. Hubert/St. Gabriel Catholic Church for 75 years. Buddy enjoyed gardening and was an avid sheepshead player. He loved to travel and take long road trips. Buddy was dearly missed for his quirky and loveable sense of humor.

Donald was survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris; and grandchildren Shelley (Eric) Rufener and Tracey Schulteis. He was further survived by his great-granddaughter Abby Rufener; sisters Dolores (the late Harold) Stafford, Jeannette (the late Marvin) Kreuser, Joanne (Gerald) Baumgartner, and Darlene (Richard) Lucka; sister-in-law Elaine (the late Orville) Beck; special neighbors the Morgan family; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Buddy was preceded in death by son Donald in 1999, his parents Clarence and Antoinette, brother Dennis “Mick” Schulteis, and sister-in-law Esther (Fred) Kempfert. A Mass of Christian Burial for Buddy was held on Sunday, 07 April 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 200 East Washington Street in Slinger where Reverend Richard Stoffel presided. Visitation was at the church on Sunday with a military walkthrough. Friends and family meet on Monday at St. Hubert Catholic Cemetery with full military honors to bring Buddy to his final place of rest.

On behalf of Buddy, the family would like to recognize Buddy’s niece, Lisa, for all of her time, care and dedication to Buddy throughout this time.

Clayton M. Leque

      Clayton M. Leque of Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away into God’s hands at the age of 89 years at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington on 02 April 2013. Clayton was born on 14 October 1923 in Etrick. He graduated from Galesville, Trempealeau County in the class of 1940. Clayton served 20 years in the United States Navy during World War II, the Korean War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Grafton. Clayton was a member of the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355 and Grafton Senior Center. He also volunteered at Meals on Wheels for many years.

Clayton was survived by his wife, Annie (Nee Kubicki) of Grafton; children, Debbie (Bruce) Williams of Grafton, Sandra Barry of Grafton, Debra (Shawn) Westmorland of San Antonio, Texas; and Richard of Naperville, Ill. He was further survived by eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many friends. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Donald and Steven; and one sister, Ann.

A memorial service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton on Saturday, 23 April. Family received friends at the church.

Albert Winquist Jr.

      Albert Winquist Jr., also known as Doug, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 88 years on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk. Doug was born on 09 April 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, son of Albert Sr. and Martha (nee Carlson) Winquist. He was a member of the Paid Boy’s Choir at Grace Episcopal Church in New York City and was the Choir Boy of the Year. Doug attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI), the University of Louisville, and Columbia and earned a master’s degree in Chemistry. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war, Doug moved to Connecticut where he met his future wife, Betsy Curtis at church. On 26 June 1954, they were united in marriage at First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. Together they lived in Virginia and West Virginia before moving to West Bend in 1976. Doug was a chemist at the former Freeman Chemical Company in Saukville before retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Chemical Society for more than 60 years. Doug was an active member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. He volunteered at the Riveredge Nature Center, Museum of Wisconsin Art, was active with the Boy Scouts and a driver for the American Red Cross.

Albert was survived by his wife, Betsy of West Bend; four children, Douglas (Katie) Winquist, III of Fredonia; Martha (David) Emrey of Greensboro, North Carolina; Karen (Jon) Williamson, of Sparta; and Stuart (Irene) Winquist of East Hampton, Connecticut; seven grandchildren, Matt (fiancée, Liz Zakany) Winquist, Amanda Winquist, Marty Williamson, Wendy Williamson, Curtis Williamson, Tristan Winquist, and Emilia Winquist; his brother, Robert (Starr) Winquist of Florham Park, New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Grellier of Sudbury, Massachusetts. and Kay Curtis of Trumbull, Connecticut; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers-in-law, Bill Grellier and Ed Curtis.

A memorial service in remembrance of Doug will be held on Sunday, April 7 at 3:30 p.m. at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 323 S. Fifth Ave., with the Rev. Jeremy Deaner officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

      Eugene R. Sandstrom of Germantown, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 79 years on 09 April 2013. Eugene was born in Rewey, Wisconsin on 02 December 1933, son of Eugene and Alice Sandstrom. He graduated from Rewey High School and University pf Wisconsin Platteville Mining School. Eugene was a longtime employee for the city of Los Angeles Deptartment of Transportation as a traffic engineer. He proudly served his country in the Unioted States Army.

Dear brother of Ronald (Letty) of Germantown and Leonard (Barbara) of Oldsmar, FLorida. Uncle of Linda Johnson, Craig Sandstrom, Debra Blodgett, Jeff Sandstrom, Brian Sandstrom and Paula Moser. Eugene was further survived by 17 great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation was on Saturday, 13 April at Faith Lutheran Church, W172 N11187 Division Road in Germantown. Lunch was served at the church. Burial took place at Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville, Wisconsin.
