Norman L. Mertes

Norman L. Mertes, also known as Jiggs, of Sheboygan died at his home with his family at his side at the age of 80 years on Saturday afternoon, 14 September 2013, following a 30-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Norman was born in Oostburg on 24 March 1933, son of Raymond and Elva (nee Glass) Mertes. He attended Oostburg schools and served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. On 22 October 1955, he married Donna Schultz in Sheboygan. Donna preceded him in death on 16 October 1995. On 10 May 1997, Norman married Kim Black in Cedarburg. Norman was a sales manager for Sommer’s Auto in Mequon for over 30 years before his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9156 and the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR, hunting, card playing and traveling.
Norman was survived by his wife, Kim; three daughters, Barbara Mertes of Grafton, Cheryl Mertes of Grafton and Gail (Ron) Burchardt of Jackson; two sons, Michael (Diane) Mertes of Hingham and David (Carole “CJ”) Mertes of Grafton; five grandchildren, Amanda, Sara, Kyle, Brandon, and Austin Mertes; one stepdaughter, Tiffany (Tom) Chamberlain of Plymouth; one stepson, Tim (Frosina) Traver of Lutz, Fla; five stepgrandchildren, Randy, Victoria, Madison, Colton and Abrianna; one sister, Gladys Sargent of Sheboygan; and two brothers, Gilbert (Virginia) Mertes of Sheboygan and Aaron (Shirley) Mertes of Sheboygan; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Mertes of Sheboygan Falls, and Louise Mertes of Sheboygan. Norman is also survived by Christy Mertes of Grafton. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; one sister, Irma (Richard) Janey; two brothers, Jerome and Roland Mertes; a sister-in-law, Shirley (Morgan) Mertes; and a brother-in-law, Earl Sargent.
A funeral to celebrate Norman’s life took place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on 17 September where Reverend Mark Janzen officiated. Military honors followed. Burial took place at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg. Family and friends gathered at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg prior to the service.

Ronald K. Michaelson
M, b. 30 August 1930, d. 10 September 2013
Ronald K. Michaelson, also known as Ron and Mick, of Ironwood, Michigan, passed away at the age of 83 years on 10 September 2013. Ronald was recently diagnosed with malignant melanoma. The Lord relieved him of this cancer as he rested comfortably at his daughter's home in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. Ron was born in Ironwood on 30 August, 1930, son of Leonard and Linnea (nee Johnson) Michaelson. He was graduated from Ironwood High School, serving as class president. Ron earned an associate degree in engineering and played football at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood. He also continued to study engineering at Marquette University in Milwaukee for a year and a half. Ron served as an airman first-class in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was awarded a Korean Service Medal, a United Nations Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. Ron then returned to Milwaukee and established his career at Evinrude Motor Company, where he worked as a manager of tool engineering. In 1955, Mick married Sylvia Estola. They raised a family in the Milwaukee/West Bend area. The family lived in Wisconsin for more than 50 years and then returned “home” to Norrie Location in Ironwood. Sylvia preceded Ron in death on 28 August 2005. Ron was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood and remained dedicated to serving others as a volunteer driver for the Veteran’s Association. He diligently served the community as a member of Ironwood American Legion Post 5.
Ronald was survived by five children, Ronald Jr. (Sarah “Sally”), Cascade, Jeffrey (Susan), West Bend, Gerald (Kathleen), Sussex, James, Crystal Lake, Illinois, and Jodi (Jeffrey) Logan, West Bend; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard, Ironwood; two aunts, Lorraine DeMarte, Duluth, Minnesota, and Delia Johnson, Onalaska (formerly Hurley, Wisconsin); a sister-in-law, Priscilla Estola, Ironwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Per Ron’s wishes, his body was cremated. Memorial service was held on Friday, 20 September preceded by a visitation at Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood, where Reverend Kurt Kovanen officiated. Committal and interment followed in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, with full military honors by the Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard. Lunch was served in the church fellowship hall immediately upon return from the cemetery.

George J. Greulich

George J. Greulich passed away at the age of 89 years on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013. George was born in Goldendale, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA on 05 November 1923. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. George married Madalyn F. Casalena in 1947 at Holy Rosary Church in Milwaukee. After marriage, the couple lived in Germantown, Milwaukee and later in West Bend. He was employed as a forklift mechanic for more than 25 years, retiring in 1986.
George was survived by three children, Gregory (Maria), Geoffrey (Cheryl) and Christine Dalton; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Case. He was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. George

Reverend Francis Xavier Cotter

Reverend Francis Xavier Cotter O.C.D. was born to eternal life at the age of 65 years on Tuesday, 18 March 2008 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.
Father Cotter was survived by his sister, Jane (Gordon) Rines; three brothers, Steven, Paul (Eleanor) and Mark (Noreen); his uncle, Phillip Cotter; nieces; nephews; and his religious brothers in the Discalced Carmelites. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Dorothy (nee Wilson) Cotter.
Father Francis was born in Boston, Massschusetts on 01 December 1942. He entered the Discalced Carmelite Friars in 1981 and made his first profession of vows 19 March 1982. Father Francis was ordained as a priest on 18 March 1989. He was a member of the Carmelite friars’ communities of Washington D.C., Elmire, New York, Peterborough, New Hampshire and Holy Hill, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. For the past 10 years, Father Francis served as chaplain to the Discalced Carmelite nuns in Denmark, Wissonsis. He served in the United States Army from 1964-1967 as a military intelligence coordinator. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. From 1977 until the time of his entrance into the Discalced Carmelite Order. Father Francis was director of rehabilitation for the sheriff’s department of Franklin County, Massachusetts.
Visitation was on Tuesday, 25 March with evening prayer in the Shrine Chapel, Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians, Holy Hill, Hubertus, and also on Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday in the main church, Holy Hill, with burial following in the Carmelite Cemetery on the Holy Hill grounds.

James G. Van Roo, also known as Jim, passed away at the age of 62 years on Saturday, 14 September 2013 at The Kathy Hospice of West Bend surrounded by his family. James was born in Milwaukee on 21 May 1951, son of Donald and Elaine (nee Meyer) Van Roo. He graduated from Custer High School, Class of 1969, and served in the United States Army Reserves from 1969-1975. He retired from West Bend Water Utility. Jim married Karen Esselman on 13 June 2003. He loved to golf, fish, hunt, and spend time with family and friends.
James was survived by his wife, Karen; children, Dan (Lisa) of Glendale, Arizona, Julie (Eric) Popple of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Michael (Tina) of West Bend and Emily (Peter) Gutschenritter of Rubicon; grandchildren; Jordan, Hailee, Jake, Skylar, Justin, Allison, Payton, Jacob, Louis, Megan, Camden and Mitchell; mother, Elaine; brothers, Rick (Gloria), Mike (Lynn) and Tom; brothers-in-law, Gordon Esselman, Melvin (Jane) Esselman and Roger Esselman; sister-in-law, Marlene (Jim) Yoost; and his special dog, Molly. Linda L. Young
F, b. 10 August 1963, d. 16 September 2013
Linda L. Young (nee Doers) of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA was called home to be with the Lord at 50 years of age on Monday, 16 September 2013, following an automobile accident. Linda was born in Port Washington on 10 August 1963, daughter of Victor and Caroline “Pat” (nee Preisler) Doers. Following her graduation in 1981, from Port Washington High School, Linda enlisted in the United States Army where she served as a supply clerk. On 01 June 1983, Linda was united in marriage to the love of her life, Marvin Young, at Fort Carson, Colorado. Following her service in the military, Linda and Marvin moved to West Bend and Linda began working for the West Bend Company as a press operator. Her passion for helping those in need eventually led her to change careers and become a CNA. Throughout her career she worked for various nursing homes including the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, Lasata, Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and the Samaritan Health Care Center. Linda was an avid geocacher, “lindafawn,” and model train hobbyist. She loved cross-stitching and spending time at her cabin up north. She was a hard worker and was always on the go. Linda was a proud mother and grandmother who enjoyed watching her grandson play hockey. She was also a very loving sister and friend who always lived by her own rules and had a joy and a zest for life that was unstoppable.
Linda was survived by her husband, Marvin of West Bend; her three children, Nathan (Rachel) Young of West Bend, Joseph (Nicole) Young of Janesville and Lisa (Chris) Wanke of Slinger; two grandchildren, Lucas and Sophia Young of Janesville; her father, Victor (Susan) Doers of West Bend; four sisters, Sharon Carpenter of West Bend, Vicki (Alex) Montañez of West Bend, Dotty (Dave) Broughton of Fredonia and Cindy Rae Doers of West Bend; her brother, Randy (Mary) Doers of McFarland; and many nieces; nephews; and other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Caroline “Pat” Doers; her infant sister, Irene Doers; a brother-in-law, Don Carpenter; and her nephew, Zachary Carpenter.
A funeral service in honor of Linda was held on Friday, 22 September at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home (1315 West Washington Street) in West Bend. Reverend David Kellerman officiated. Burial followed in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation was at the neral home on Friday morning.

Edward Eloy Coffey

Edward Eloy Coffey, also known as Ed, of Suring, passed away at the age of 78 years on Tuesday, 24 September 2013 following a short illness. Edward was born in the town of Erin, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA on 14 March 1935, son of Eloy and Mary (nee McNamara) Coffeyn. He served in the Army National Guard for 14 years and during that time he married Gloria Pinkert in Milwaukee on 19 July 1958. Edward was employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier while also farming in Johnson Creek. After moving from the farm in the late 1970s, the couple owned and operated The Pines Resort in Crooked Lake. They moved to Suring in 1978 and Ed retired from Gillett Public School. He lived at Meadowlands Assisted Living in Oconto Falls for the last year. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Suring and the American Legion Post 283. Ed enjoyed driving horses, house painting, fishing, playing cards, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mathias Dornacker

Mathias Dornacker Jr., also known as Math, of Wisconsin Dells passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years on Wednesday, 25 September 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells. Memorial funeral services were held on Saturday at the Picha Funeral Home, 321 Washington Avenue, Wisconsin Dells. Visitation was prior to the service. A memorial gathering was held in the West Bend area to accommodate his many dear friends and acquaintances.

Ed Herbst was the owner of Ed Herbst Company. He was a longtime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, and a member of the Grafton American Legion Post 355. Ed loved to work at his business and loved to be with people. His family meant everything to him in every aspect of life.

Ervin F. Mielkie of St. Kilian, passed away at the age of 72 years on Sunday, 23 September 2013, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Theresa on 25 October 1940, son of Ralph and Amelda “Millie” (Steger) Mielkie. On 07 June 1969, Ervin was united in marriage to Darlene DeSmidt at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Armstrong.
Ervin served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He was a member of St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian, and was employed by the Gehl Company in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA for 23 years and later by Dairyland Seed in Kewaskum, West Bend Equipment in West Bend, Weasler Engineering Inc. in Kewaskum and Karlen Catering in Lomira. Ervin loved to hunt, especially deer hunting, and enjoyed gardening and yard work. He will fondly be remembered for his ability to fix anything. Ervin had a generous heart. He was available to help anyone who needed a hand anytime. He was deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Those Ervin leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 44 years, Darlene; two children, Laureen (Dean) Groth of Brownsville and Garett (Debbie) Mielkie of Kewaskum; two grandchildren, Breanna and Justin Mielkie; a brother, Richard (Kathleen) Mielkie of Elmore; two sisters, Bonnie (Darrel) Sabish and Ramona (Ronald Jr.) Dins both of Elmore; and other relatives and friends. Leroy E. Thom

LeRoy E. Thom of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 91 years on Friday, 27 September 2013 at Froedtert Health St. Joseph’s Hospital. Leroy was born in Woodland, Dodge County on 31 July 1922. He was raised on a farm just outside of Rubicon. LeRoy attended school until sixth grade after which he was needed for work on the farm. During World War II, he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably in the Pacific theater. Upon returning from service, he became employed at the Washington County Highway Department and retired as a highway patrolman. On 04 June 1947, LeRoy was united in marriage to Elma Quaas at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend. Together they made their home in the town of West Bend where they hobby-farmed, raising horses and cows. LeRoy was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, the West Bend Fred A. Schaefer Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1393, and was the former weed commissioner for the town of West Bend. He enjoyed aviation and flying his plane, along with attending many auctions and making new friends. LeRoy was a master at fixing all types of farm machinery, which turned into a good side job.
He was survived by his wife, Elma; a daughter, Bonnie Streese of West Bend; three grandchildren, Melissa McKee of Red Wing, Minnesota, Eric (Nadia Margulis) Dvoracek of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and David (fiancée Hannah Krause) Streese of West Bend; two great-grandsons, Ian and Brennen McKee; a sister, Carol (John) Schwartz of Hartford; four sisters-in-law, Delores Hauser of Ft. Meyers, Florida, Myrtle (Dan) Fischer of Kewaskum, Altta (Clayton) Stautz of Kewaskum, and Orlean (Gene) LePien of Hartford; three brothers-in-law, William Burns of Decatur, Georgia, Wilmer (Edna) Quaas of Port Washington, and Donald Quaas of Kewaskum; and other relatives and many friends. Roger Douglas Johnson
M, b. 29 November 1949, d. 26 September 2013
The life of Roger Douglas Johnson, who many simply knew him as R.D., came to a close on Thursday, 26 September 2013. A well-respected man by many people and by many standards there is no doubt that he was greatly missed. He was survived by his loving wife Lavonda (nee Ball) Johnson of 41 years, sons James, 29, and William, 25, both of Milwaukee, along with the family’s beloved 14-year-old dog, Ella. He is further survived by his two sisters Jeanette (Duane) Fryer of Brooksville, Florida, and Vicki (Raymond) Jorgensen of Racine, and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was born on 29 November 1949 in Racine, son of Frederick and Anna (nee Krizan) Johnson. He was graduated from Racine Horlick High School in 1968. Roger then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served in Vietnam. Upon his return to the United States, he was selected to serve in Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1). While serving in the Marine Corps, he earned the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. While stationed in Quantico, Virginia, he met his wife, Lavonda, and was united in marriage on 03 November 1972. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, he and his wife returned to his hometown of Racine, where he attended Gateway Technical College in Kenosha. Upon his graduation, he became a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard, where he served as a crew chief in the 832nd Medical Company in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. During his service, he had more than 3,000 flight hours and was at the center of countless rescue operations. He retired in 2005 after 37 years of service to his country.
Roger not only took great pride in serving his country, but also his community. Roger was the scout master of Troop 762 in West Bend from 1991 to 2010. Known simply as Mr. J to his scouts, he helped 51 young men attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Service projects performed by his scouts can be seen all around the West Bend area. He took great pride both his service to his community and being able to have a positive impact on the lives of many young men.
A military service took place on Friday, 04 October at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery located in Union Grove, followed by lunch at Infusino’s Restaurant located on Rapids Drive in Racine. On Saturday, 05 October, a celebration of his life occurred at Ridge Run County Park, town of West Bend, accessible using the south entrance off of Scenic Drive and Wheat Ridge Lane. Roger was born on 29 November 1949 in Racine, son of Frederick and Anna (nee Krizan) Johnson. He was graduated from Racine Horlick High School in 1968. Roger then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served in Vietnam. Upon his return to the United States, he was selected to serve in Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1). While serving in the Marine Corps, he earned the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. While stationed in Quantico, Virginia, he met his wife, Lavonda, and was united in marriage on 03 November 1972. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, he and his wife returned to his hometown of Racine, where he attended Gateway Technical College in Kenosha. Upon his graduation, he became a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard, where he served as a crew chief in the 832nd Medical Company in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. During his service, he had more than 3,000 flight hours and was at the center of countless rescue operations. He retired in 2005 after 37 years of service to his country.
Roger not only took great pride in serving his country, but also his community. Roger was the scout master of Troop 762 in West Bend from 1991 to 2010. Known simply as Mr. J to his scouts, he helped 51 young men attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Service projects performed by his scouts can be seen all around the West Bend area. He took great pride both his service to his community and being able to have a positive impact on the lives of many young men.
A military service took place on Friday, 04 October at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery located in Union Grove, followed by lunch at Infusino’s Restaurant located on Rapids Drive in Racine. On Saturday, 05 October, a celebration of his life occurred at Ridge Run County Park, town of West Bend, accessible using the south entrance off of Scenic Drive and Wheat Ridge Lane. Earl Ollinger

Earl Ollinger, also known as Bud, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA died at the age of 86 years on Monday, 30 September 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in the town of Polk. Earl was born in West Bend on 20 December 1926, son of Daniel and Ione (nee Gengler) Ollinger. He married Sarah A. Hacker on 17 September 1955 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Granville. Bud was graduated from West Bend High School with the class of 1945. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Italy. Following his discharge, he worked at Ollinger’s Garage at Gumm’s Corners until buying the business in 1962, and operating the garage until retiring in 1990. He retired to the family homestead where he grew up. Bud loved gardening, woodworking, metalworking and antique collecting. He was a member of the Jackson SSgt. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 486 and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, 04 October at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend where Reverend. Pat Heppe presided. Burial followed in Holy Angels Cemetery. The family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Friday.

Theodore M. Conde

Theodore M. Conde, also known as Ted, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 76 years on Friday, 04 October 2013. Ted was born in the Philippines on 28 April 1937, son of Potenciano and Paz (nee Milano) Conde. He came to the United States at age 19. Ted joined and served as a corpsman in the United States Navy. He married Rebecca Thiel on 01 December 1979.
Ted was the medical illustrator for St. Joseph in Milwaukee for more than 22 years. He then was a Milwaukee Park artist and created beautiful designs and murals, later moving to the West Bend area in 2001. Ted was very proud of the art he gave to the community, which included murals at the Washington County Justice Center, Big Brothers and Sisters mural, and Cedar Valley. He also was the artist for a metal sculpture at Cedar Ridge and was the artist-in-residence at Cedar Valley from 2010 until present.
Ted was survived by his beloved wife Rebecca, son Anthony (Jennifer) Conde, two grandchildren and six loving sisters. He is further survived by his mother-in-law Arlene Thiel, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and father-in-law Earl Thiel.
A funeral service was on Monday, 07 October at St. Luke Lutheran Church of Slinger (4860 Arthur Road) where Reverend Matthew Short presided. Interment took place at Union Cemetery in Slinger. Visitation was at the church on Monday.

Milton E. Boldt

Milton E. Boldt entered eternal life on Saturday, 05 October 2013 at the age of 91 years. Milton was born in the town of Lima in Sheboygan County on 11 January 1922, son of Frank and Mabel (nee Stemerdink) Boldt. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Milton married Elizabeth “Betty” Mueller on 20 October 1945. He was graduated from University Wisconsin-Stout with an undergraduate degree and received his master degree from Loyola University. After college, Milton taught machine shop at Milwaukee Area Technical College and later became an associate dean. After his retirement in 1984, Milton spent much of his time on his hobby farm in the town of Jackson.
Milton was survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty; children John, Richard (Sharon), and Margaret (Charles) Schowalter; grandchildren Norah (Lucas) Koskovich, AnnMarie (Joe) DiGangi, Charles Schowalter, Cheryl Boldt and Jeni (Michael) Kiel; and great-grandchildren Hannah, Emma, and Leah Koskovich and Mya, Will, and Tyler DiGangi. He was further survived by his sister, Phyllis Hundley, sisters-in-law Lorraine (Glen) Boldt Lemmenes, and Helen “Carol” Boldt, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Milton was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mabel; brothers Russell and Fred; brothers-in- law Earl Stoltenberg and Ray Koehn; sister-in-law Carol “Kelly” Stoltenberg Koehn; and nephews Ronald Pearce, David Pearce and Carl Boldt.

Earl Sylvesrer Strupp

Earl Sylvester Strupp of Big Flats, passed away at the age of 87 years on Thursday, 03 October 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. Memorial services was on Saturday, 12 October 2013 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship. Pastor Sam Downey officiated. Military honors were presented by the Adams County Honor Guard. Visitation was held on Saturday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home prior to the service. Earl was born on 22 June 1926 in the town of Addison, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, son of Joseph and Isabellia (nee Greiner) Strupp. He entered the military 25 August 1945 and was stationed in England and Germany. Earl was honorably discharged on 02 February 1947. He married Ruth “Eileen” Zernia on 01 April 1949 in Milwaukee. They lived in Hartford and then Milwaukee. Earl and Eileen moved their family to Kohlsville, town of Wayne, were they owned and operated a farm in 1966. Earl was president, owner and manager of the South Side Auto Body for more than 30 years and vice president of the Allenton Auto Body for one year until he retired in 1989. Earl and Eileen then moved to the town of Big Flats, Adams County, where he managed Strupp’s Polled Hereford Farm before retiring.
In 1990 Earl became first supervisor of the town of Big Flats for four years. On 15 November 1994, Earl took on the position of chairman of the town of Big Flats until he retired. He was a captain of the Big Flats Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the American Legion, Post 200, the Moose Lodge of West Bend and the Salvation Army. He was a past president of the Allenton Snow Pacers Snowmobile Club, the Washington County Snowmobile Association and the Black Jacket Company Riders Motorcycle Club of Milwaukee. Earl initiated the use of ATV trails in the town of Big Flats as he had raced motorcycles for few years on tracks in Wisconsin and in other states winning many trophies. He was also a past member of the Kohlsville Volunteer Fire Department.
Earl enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. He loved fishing, hunting, and farming. He enjoyed making a garden every year and was very proud that he didn’t have one weed in his garden. He was quick with a story or joke that always made people laugh and he loved to sing. He was very creative and loved making things by hand from things he had around the yard. Earl enjoyed helping his neighbors and friends and did so whenever anyone was in need.
Earl was survived by his wife, Ruth “Eileen” Strupp; son, Douglas Strupp of Allenton/Big Flats; two daughters, Marlene Ziemer of Hartford and Deborah Strupp of the town of Big Flats; three grandchildren, Carey Hodson, Dana (Chris) Hofmeister and Chris Strupp; great-grandchildren Kayla, Abigail and Samuel Nagrocki, Heidi and Adler Hofmeister; great-great-granddaughter, Ella Lynn Olsen; sisters-in-law Audrey and Rita Strupp, Delores Fisher and Dorothy Zernia-Genet; brothers-in-law Fred and Wallace Zernia; and many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. Roger A. Wach

Roger A. Wach of Waubeka died at the age of 68 years Friday, 04 October 2013 at Heritage Health and Rehabilitation Center, Port Washington, with his family at his side after his ongoing battle with cancer. Roger was born in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA on 25 June 1945, son of Aloysius and Armina (nee Bonlender) Wach. He grew up in Waubeka, town of Fredonia and graduated from Port Washington High School. Roger attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, majoring in engineering for two years before entering military service. He served our country in the United States Navy as a Second Class Petty Officer from 1967-69 during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he married and started a family, living many years on Chestnut Street in Port Washington. For more than 20 years each, Roger did sheet metal work for J&H Heating of Port Washington and FJA Christiansen Roofing and Sheet Metal of Milwaukee. This took him to many places throughout Wisconsin and surrounding states, including working on the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, amongst others. Roger was a proud 40-plus year member and past commander of the Port Washington Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82, Port Washington High School Veterans Honors Wall recipient in 2011, member in the 40 & 8 military association, Tin Can Sailor Association, National Flag Day Foundation of Waubeka and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, planting flowers, watching sports and playing cribbage with the boys at the Legion.
His favorite pasttime was being grandpa. He was survived by his children Katherine (Jeff) Lathrop of Port Washington and Joseph Wach of Madison, step-daughter Jackie (Rick) Vanden Heuvel of Appleton, grandchildren Jarrett, Jakob, Jayden, Kolton and Karleigh, his mother Armina Wach of Waubeka, his brother Jerry (Darlene) Wach of Germantown, his sister Carol Wach of Eden Prairie, Minn., sisterin- law Connie Wach of Fredonia, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roger is preceded in death by his children Stephanie, Sarah and Edward Wach, his father Al Wach and his brother James Wach.
Roger’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Divine Savior Parish-Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Road B., Holy Cross, town of Belgium, WI. Reverend James Ernster will be the celebrant. Final interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Port Washington with military honors. Family will receive friends on Wednesday at church.

Odin B. Pederson, also known as Buddy, of West Bend, Washington Counrt, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 85 years on Friday, 04 October 2013 at Froedtert Health St. Joseph Hospital of West Bend. Buddy was born in Eau Claire on 13 March 1928, son of Odin and Ella (nee Hogue) Pederson. He married Lois (nee McGee) on 01 October 1955 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Buddy served in the United States Army 45th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. He earned the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantryman, and United Nations Service Medal. He then worked for Chrysler Corporation in Hartford, where he retired. He was a life member and Post Quartermaster for 12 years of the Waubeka Veterans of Foreign Wars Flag Day Post 7037, a member of the West Bend Disabled American Veterans Chapter 58 and a member of the West Bend Korean War Veterans, CPL Richard Bell Chapter 111.

Edward L. Pohle, M.D., also known as Ed, of Thiensville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at Lasata Care Center at the age of 75 years on Wednesday 02 October 2013. Edward was survived by his wife Susan (nee Sisson); children Steven Pohle and Kristin (Paul) Sims; granddaughter Calista Sims and his siblings Betsy Schneider and William (Sarah) Pohle. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Herbert and Elizabeth Pohle. He was also survived by other relatives and friends.
There was a memorial reception held in Ed's honor on Saturday 12 October at the Schramka-Densow Funeral Home, 423 North Main Street in Thiensvill.
